[FINAL] France v Italy
It will be Italy if they can steer clear of penalties close to the goal (though Buffon would likely even stop a PK). The Italian defense will shut down the French attack, but I see this game going to 2 overtimes just like Italy v. Germany. If any of the French score, it will be Zidane...but Italy has a whole slew of players hungry for a goal. GO ITALIA!

"Speed of Sound" - the meaning of the lyrics?
I just think that it suggest that the world is bigger than all of the material things. There are things that money can't buy and that people can't create.

It's just the fact that he misses the point of Coldplay's music that gets me riled. He acts like Coldplay's music doesn't make sense because it's music claims to be self-affirming but isn't because it just doesn't come out and say "BE HAPPY." In fact in "Low" the chorus sounds very triumphant, and I see it saying "I'm 'low' right now and that's ok because I'm going to come out of it." Maybe that's just me, but I think a lot of Coldplay's "sad lyrics" are placed into a "feel good" musical context to suggest the self-affirmation. BTW here's a NY Times article that might get you more riled. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/05/arts/music/05pare.html?ex=1120708800&en=6c3afb08564ab643&ei=5087&excamp=GGGNchrismartincoldplay

OMG!!! He has no idea. But then again, what else can you expect from NPR??? Besides that Dressy Bessy is made up of musicians not even close to Coldplay's level, there drummer that "mixes it up" actually varies little in style throughout the entire clip. As a drummer who has been playing for a modest six years, I can tell you that Coldplay's drummer has a much better understanding of his role in the band in terms of complimenting the band's esoteric style. Even comparing Dressy Bessy to Coldplay is an insult. Dressy Bessy builds off of basic 4-chord progressions where Coldplay strives to created a layered sound, attaching and withdrawing melody lines as the song's progress--not to mention adding some modulations (key changes) to hold the listener's interest. To Will Champion: Keep doing what your doing, it's working man. I know that you know that one of the best things a drummer can do is not stick out. To all of Coldplay: Your music is life-affirming, and as for communicating the problems in life, you hit the nail on the head. You said it man.

Fix You ain't right
It does sound Colplay and I'd like to reiterate that the WHOLE CD IS GOOD! I just think that the first half is stronger than the second. BTW Till Kingdom Come was written for Johnny Cash to sing but he died before it could be recorded so it was put on "X&Y" as a tribute.

Don't want to start a riot... but...
I liked every song on it when I heard it. Fix You definately gets played more than the rest though.

X&Y Singles
I could see Hardest Part becoming a single. It's got the sound of a song you hear on the radio, you know?

Fix You ain't right
I know, I know. Every song on the album is fantastic, don't get me wrong. But I definately think that most of the CD's power is in the first half! OH WELL AGREE TO DISAGREE! :)

BEST COLDPLAY ALBUM
I don't really think that X&Y is too commercial. I can't really detect any commercial motivation in it. Nothing like the pathetic Weezer sellout. Anyway, Coldplay has been doing a lot of promotional stuff on MTV but I'm all for it. Everyone should get their heads out of the crap on that station and into Parachutes, AROBTTH, and X&Y!

Piano players, favorite song to put to the keys?
What's your favorite song to play on piano? Playing their music is something I have just recently began doing. I've been playing piano 12 years now and though not complex, there music is incredible and gives me goosebumps everytime I play it. Clocks is probably my favorite tied with For You. I can play Clocks and just lose track of time lol. What song is your favorite to play?
-
Best piano in a coldplay song?
Clocks is definately liberating, but I'd have to tie it with Amsterdam and For You. When I play any of these songs I get lost in them.
-
Which "X&Y" song do you play the most....?
Definately Fix You, Square One, and White Shadows.
