I want to add something to this. I think the concept of X&Y is one of the strongest and most powerful. The simplistic "cliched" lines followed up by paradoxal lyrics makes it so much more saying than at least half of the songs in MOTS. I think X&Y really framed their view on problems and how they approach them from a space perspective. Moreover, it feels so so genuine and authentic to me. Especially when you realize that they were looking for a light in the darkness those time. And the instrumentals and vocals support the lyrics and theme in a very lovely way.

My theory of this song is that is more an transition from the poppy My Universe to the artsy Coloratura. Although it's really a track on its own, it starts of with a quite stadium vibe beat where usually fans are singing through, hoping for at least one song more. And when the heaven-esque vocals come layer by layer in, it feels like it's building up to the finale for the fans. 'Take us all into sun', as if it's pulling you away from the ground. The drums stop and mark sort of the end of the catchy dance album, while the almost classical vocals take some more time to end the track. You might not realise then how catchy the track started. Your are transitioned to another part in the universe. Then Coloratura starts with all those ambient sounds and you are in a complete other dimension. So wonderfully done.. this track really makes sense.

Yeah for sure, this song haven't reached its full potential imo. I think the lyrics and instrumentals are both very strong, but the production is kinda weird. I like the intro but when it goes to the verses, I didn't get that energetic vibe I got from the live version, where it's so convincing sung. It feels as if Chris is playing with an autotune mic oslt and is totally exhausted to sing (this could be intentional, but idk why?) I miss some emotion. When he yells 'rags' , I finally felt some urge again, let me more believe. It reminds me a bit of the studio version of Talk, very modest comparing to the live version. Anyway, the horn-bridge felt quite flat too and then the build-up verse is already a better part. The ending sounds very lovely, but also missed a last touch. A lot of criticism haha, but I very care about this song. Still one of my favourites❤️

Long time ago I really loved a song of Coldplay at first impression (ex. Arabesque and Coloratura maybe). This is really stunning and my dreams come true now this Viva-demo finally makes its birth. I love the way how they performed this track, so convincing and dedicated. But what I admire the most, is that they don't seem to be afraid to strive again for hard-rock. It reminds me of AROBTTH, X&Y and Viva at the same time. And having said that, I'm smiling and can't wait to hear the studio version!! ps. Am I the only one who thinks Jonny's riff is quite reminiscent to the bassline in Arabesque???

I was listening to Ghost Stories and came suddenly to the realisation that 'Midnight' is the exact middle song of the album. Does anyone know if there has been a reason for this? For me Midnight is the most typical Ghost Stories track; just so cold, it only really comes in when you need it.

I totally agree with you. Last part reminded me a little to the intro instrumentals of Princess of China. That's for me the only part where those generic tones come into its own. Intro feels they wanted to give this song a kind of stadium vibe or pretended being played in a stadium somewhere in the universe. I think all the extras, including the robotic vocal effects, do make this song just less boring. But actually I don't think these effects are all right placed. But I'll give it another judge on October 15 when we've got some more context. In the meantime, I will enjoy listening to Human Heart, Higher Power and Coloratura.

I really love Pink Floyd, and in terms of appreciation, Coloratura is good stuff so the comparison to Pink Floyd is a huge compliment indeed. Initially, when I heard this song for the first time, I thought to Pink Floyd as well. Suppose they are the masters of the prog rock genre. But what I was trying to say is that I like this song as being a Coldplay song as well and you can hear that clearly. Besides they're not much imitating PF oslt.

I feel this whole album is about discovering new worlds and Coldplay did, with this track they're exploring musically seen a new terrain and I really appreciate that. You can hear them experimenting. I think they did it pretty well, because I feel the song through my entire body. Therefore, I'm not so happy with all those references to Pink Floyd. Because it is not Pink Floyd, it will not be Pink Floyd and it doesn't have to be Pink Floyd. This is Coldplay making me proud as producing brand new stunning Coldplay music. That makes it such unique! ❤️?????
