  1. I see. To clarify what I said (or what i've said in the past about this topic); I meant to say that I dont think 'those fans' are fans of the band's current output.
  2. ^then we'd have ppl complaining that we're getting no news. point is, there's always something to complain about, so why not just be happy with what we did get.
  3. I wouldnt say 'as a whole'. I think its just a vocal minority actually, 'cause at this point, the ones who DO think like this are no longer Coldplay fans.
  4. Dont think the general public thinks of them that way anymore. I still think the whole 'coldplay is gay' thing is out there though :/
  5. We're bound to have disagreements, but its when the conversation gets personal and crosses the line that it gets disappointing. Perhaps it was unrealistic of me, but I really did think we were above it. Oh well, back to KEP watch, or lack thereof :/
  6. Really? I've never seen this topic discussed in such a adult manner before. Usually its shit-slinging on both sides. This is a tea party in comparison.
  7. Yeah, i think Beastwars is (thankfully) avoiding that argument again. Good on you for doing it in a classy way!
  8. i dont think thats an indicator that 'something is cooking'. i mean, the band post random things like that on occasion (even when there's nothing cooking). having said that, I do believe the speculations and reports that KEP is not too far off.
  9. https://www.coldplaying.com/postcards-from-far-away-project-send-a-postcard-to-coldplay/ Im afraid most of the users who were here years ago have since left, so we're kinda hard to come by :(
  10. well, their next gig in end of march so thats the max window.
  11. Will kinda said where I thought KEP was at in the progression of things, but its nice to (finally) get real confirmation of it!
  12. I thought the argument/hope was that they drop something without the fanfare and extra attention. Or maybe someone else said it, my bad
  13. sooo....why dont they play that instead...? sorry to make fun, but yeah, dont think its gonna happen.
  14. even without the EP, i wished they changed their setlist a bit, heh, but thats for another thread....
  15. yeah, if the EP isn't done already, its very close. But that's different to when they'll actually release it. I think if anything, they might be practicing a few for the tour start up again?
  16. they could draw a square as the album art and someone will be offended or allege plagiarism...
  17. Gonna get the ball somewhat rolling; this is gonna be VERY rough. Not 100% sure of when Coldplaying actually started, but I think it was in the Rush of Blood era, not Parachutes. Feel free to correct me. Hell, feel free to correct me anywhere! A Rush of Blood to the Head: Nada, wasn't here yet X&Y: I joined, but wasn't vocal Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends: My first real experience with leaks and following along with the teasing the band did. In this era, it was via Prospekt and Roadie #42. The highlight for me though can be summed up with the phrase "IT'S LEAKING IN JUSTIN!". To elaborate, LP4 was leaking on a Justin Timberlake fansite. No friggin idea who discovered it, but once it was posted in the LP4 leak thread, all of Coldplaying went over there and they experienced a massive increase in new users, hah. IIRC, they were actually very nice and welcoming to us. That being said, last I heard, the site has since been shut down #RIP Another highlight came with members of our site discovering where the band make some of their music. The discovered was confirmed with a number of fans showing up and seeing band members! Christmas Lights: Right in between LP4 and LP5 came, what I think, is one of the greatest moments in Coldplaying history. The details are vague to me, and I wasn't involved because of geography, but basically, we were asked by band management to come out for a music video shoot. The result was a lot of our users being immortalized forever! Mylo Xyloto: I was still active on the site, but I happened to be occupied during this leak, but I do recall the first show of the era being Rock Im Park which was unfortunately untelevised and unstreamed. As a result, I vividly recall listening to a potato and heavily bass distorted version of Princess of China. Although it was very potato, I really enjoyed it. That and Hurts Like Heaven. Ghost Stories: Roughly around here things started getting really dark in more ways than one. Musically, the band turned another gloomier direction which we now know is due to Chris's personal life. The future of our site itself was also in question around this time also (I think), and users were particularly "prickily" around this era in a volume and amplitude ive never seen before in my 10+ years on the site. A Head Full of Dreams: Coldplaying ownership changes hands once again. Erm, not sure what else to say here, the usual leaks I guess. Other: also should mention some more Coldplaying related items such as the Postcards from Far Away Project, and Batman Interviews Coldplay.
  18. Hello, Coldplaying lifer here. Pretty neat idea and i'll try and fill in the gaps here and there. I wasn't too vocal in the early days, but always just stuck to reading for the beginning years of my tenure. Joined around X&Y era, but I have a better memory starting from Viva. Looking forward to how this project goes.
  19. oh, and if anyones keeping score, that guy never got back to us :/
  20. Good luck reproducing Politik! I think an entertainment outlet tried to goat him into saying something about Trump and he just responded in a very politically correct manner, not really choosing sides. So, there you have it. And agreed, they had their chance with Brexit, but while they did at least comment on it, it wasn't too in depth and was only a few instances. I mean, the band are still mostly an English band, only Chris has strong-ish American ties. Might be at least a tad out of place for them to comment.
  21. ehh, dunno if jumping into this political mess is a good idea. you either piss off one side of the room or the other, so just stand in the middle and get a nice view of everything. and no, i'm not saying they should be scared sheep, but i honestly dont think Coldplay saying "we love/hate trump" will sway anyone to love/hate trump to try and be like them. a protest song wont magically make trump (supporters) suddenly change their minds either. y'know what i mean? I just see more harm than good that can come from it. my $0.02
  22. Been meaning to talk to you about your subreddit. Could ya brighten it up a lil? I mean, this era was supposed to be about colours and stuff, but its so gloomy in that reddit, hah
  23. Visually it'd be okay I guess, but musically, iunno what that even means hah
  24. inb4 illuminati, but yeah, that's actually pretty cool art whether its related to coldplay or not.
  25. errr, why dont the staff just go on vacation for a little while :)
