You've got to be kidding me. That cover of Hoppipolla reaches new levels of terribleness. The guitarists guitar playing makes you think he has ten thumbs and his Icelandic is absolutely horrible (It's not fair, i know). This is a sleazy American cover of a great song and it reminds me of when Lifehouse covered Keane's Somewhere Only We Know, and believe me I did not wish for reliving that. Sigur Rós are so unique that I think no one can cover them properly, especially not some sleazy american band. I'm sorry if I did hurt anybodys feelings.

He's leaving this summer, no question about that :/

Actually it's not named after it, the town is called Vopnafjörður. The story the lyrics provide is supposed to happen there. And yes I would recommend a trip to Iceland. But come in the summer. Then we have a 24hour daylight and the weather is great most of the time.

Sigur Rós are the best .. Flugufrelsarinn is about my fkn native town! It's population is about 700 people. And it has got a famous song for itself :D

No you're not! I heard it through the webstream (of course no radio station in Iceland will play it so soon :/ ..) and after a few listens i liked it. It is not as catchy as the songs of their first album but it is a grower and i really liked it. Really U2-esque. Can't wait for the rest of the album :)

This band makes me sooo proud to be Icelandic :) .. I saw them in Reykjavik in November and they were amazing! And it is so great that they sing in Icelandic because it might encourage some people to learn our ridiculously hard language :D

It's celcius. It's good to hear that you like the icelandic language, but i wouldn't get my hopes high of learning it, our grammar one of the most complicated in the world :D

Don't get me wrong. It is not like we live in snowhouses or anything. The weather here is really amazing most of the time. In the summer the temperature can reach maybe 25 degrees. The coldest weather i remember was around -20 degrees but that has only happened once so i remember. If you ever visit Iceland make sure you don't miss the South Coast. It has the most beautiful landscape in the world. And also visit Vopnafjörður :) .. my native town and my favourite place on earth. The population is about 700 people and everyone is 100% friendly and it is a great place for tourists. I'm going to sleep.
