  1. I've finally downloaded this album. I did know I had to but I never seemed to find the time to do it...... I totally loved it. The first idea that came up on my mind when listening to The Homeless and the Hummingbirds was "they sound like The Real People", a band which I'm especially enjoying at the moment. Favourite song: Balkan Low Rider Anthem. Both the piano and the violin sound so great together that I feel like crying.
  2. Grace, I totally loved your top 10 list! Gaspard Ulliel. Wow. Just wow :stunned: Who's him?!

Thanks for your replies, I thought this thread would die without any one! :nice: I've checked the average temperatures and precipitations for each month and it's such a COLD place, it looks like it's winter all the time over there. So yeah, I'm gonna take winter clothes, I've been thinking about it! Hopefully I'll get used to the bad weather but I know it's gonna be difficult because it is so much better in my country. Cheers Daryl, I've looked for some flights and I didn't find any direct one!! :O I think that, first off I could fly to London and afterwards take another plane to go to Aberdeen. And speaking about Barcelona, I don't think it's going to snow even if these days have been really cold. Here it snows once every ten years or so. I'll probably get a private room because it'd be awkward to share it with someone I don't know and I might go for a catered one, as you said, but I still have to consider all the options that I've got although at the moment I reckon this is the best one! Mariana, it's nice to see that you're back!! And it'd be lovely that you were offered a place on your Brookes! I'm sure we could meet each other! Has anyone any idea of what this "vacation retainer" and "utility charge" is? I suppose it's an extra fee but still I don't get if this has to be paid monthly or only once or what?! http://www.abdn.ac.uk/accommodation/grid.shtml
  4. oi. I wonder if someone would be able to make a serious and honest post in that thread  more: Zach Condon Paul Banks Björn Dixgård James Sutton Orlando Weeks Benjamin McKenzie Christopher Jones Michael Pitt
  5. ^ Who says so? Of course not! why don't you just type all the women (and/or men  ) you'd like to sleep with? That's what I'd do even if the title of the tread said to write your top 10. Aaand... now it's time to extend the list that I wrote a year ago.

A month ago I applied for a programme called Erasmus because I wanted to study abroad during one term and last week I was told that I've been offered a place at the University of Aberdeen. Now I've got a some questions because I'm not sure about what to do regarding the accommodation. I'm going there on my own and I suppose that the right choice would be to look for accommodation offered by the Uni (the halls of residence) because in this way it'd be easier for me to get to know other people. Anyway, I'm not sure whether I should look for a shared bedroom or a private one? About the catering, do you think it's better to cook for yourself or to have someone else to do it for you if the difference of prices between a self-catered and a catered accommodation isn't that big? But I'm afraid I won't like their cooking because I'm used to the Mediterranean Diet... I'm also concerned about the language. I know some Erasmus students who came to my Uni expecting my teachers and other pupils to use Spanish but they realised that most of the lectures were given in Catalan too late, a language that they didn't even know it existed and I wouldn't like this to happen to me there with the Scots language. Is it widely used? For me it's gonna be difficult with the English because in my country people don't really use it, it's not spoken and it's gonna be a change in my life overnight... and I do hope I'll be able to handle this change. I'm sure that other questions will arise in my mind sooner or later too. I'll post them ... Do you have any advice (in general) or whatever? :)
  7. yes, I second that. Long Live Life is correct and has a meaning (and more than one). Well, I suppose that must be the meaning they actually wanted to give to it. :)
  8. Oh my god. This needs to be cleared up. I was born and raised in Spain and Spanish is my mother tongue. I can assure you all that the first meaning that comes to the mind of any Spanish speaker when hearing "Viva la vida" ISN'T Live Life. Yes, the other meaning that could have is the one you said, but it's written in an archaic way and that's why people wouldn't think about it, nowadays. (Usted) viva la vida. --> This sounds horrible. Usted is the way I would address to an authority or someone important. It puts distance between people and I see it quite cold. I read that someone said that Viva la vida meaning "Long live life" makes no sense but it DOES. As long as it means something "Long live the Queen/ our team / etc etc" or whatever else to you, Long live life does make sense.
  9. I don't want to imagine! I'm sure they had never thought about the title that way. If they had a certain knowlegde of Spanish I suppose they'd have considered the possibility of this double meaning - anyway, I know that they had the best intentions when they chose Viva la vida as the title for their 4th album and I expect its songs to be good :nice:
  10. *nods* it just sounds like the title that could have a song specially written for the Eurovision contest.
  11. Viva la vida? haha, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. :surprised: gosh, this is way too shocking for me. It's the last title I'd have expected for a Coldplay's album because it looks like it has NOTHING to do with them... I do hope the songs in it will be decent.
  12. well, it may help him to remember the word  LALALA! :nice:
  13. ooooh. Zach! How lovely! :nice: *fans self* me too!! we need fresh air, don't we?? Well, at least I know I do.

yeah, we all were quite concerned about it to be honest :(
  15. Oenona replied to bart's topic in The Lounge
exactly!! you remember it well! :) At the news from all over the world people were told that the ones who commited the terrorist attack wasn't ETA but in our own country we were just told the opposite because they DID want to blame ETA so as to get more votes. Aznar = Bush's ass kisser. And people are voting PSOE also because PP put made us take part in a war in which we didn't have ANY interest to take part in.
  16. Oenona replied to bart's topic in The Lounge
no, Aznar belongs to the same party than Rajoy. Rajoy was his successor.
  17. Oenona replied to bart's topic in The Lounge
yes, I am here! :nice: and I'm glad that bloody idiot that is Aznar (& company) are losing elections. This is a good sign, thank god.
  18. I just had the urge to post some pictures. My apologies. Zach Condon... Paul Banks...

oops. I'm sorry to hear that. I suppose that you must be very careful with the people who you put your trust in :\ Maybe it wasn't as bad as it seemed to be... and anyways, you've got to think that it's the girl the one who chooses the guy she wants to be with.

I'm taking this exam in June and I don't think it's a waste of money and time, otherwise I wouldn't do so. I'm also doing a preparation course for it. I don't agree with the idea that "they just want you to memorize things". There're some parts of the paper (Use of English, for example) in which what plays a big role is the fact that you've read loads of English texts and many of my classmates are having a hard time with it because there's no rules or sentences etc that you can be taught - you just know it (or not). Also, this exam is recognized in many institutions - and if you're planning to study in the UK, me thinks it's better to have this certificate.
  21. Voxtrot are coming here on May and I'm happy of thaaaat! LALALALA
  22. hahaha  well, think about it - what you're going to tell him - (I know that you do). Perhaps what could help you a bit is considering the options you've got, I do this at times, especially when I'm way too confused and have no clue of what to do. I create a list with the "options" I've got and I write in a sheet of paper the advantages and disadvantages for each of them. Then, I have an overview, try to focus on the issue and I usually end up choosing one option and carrying it out. nighty night Magda! I'm glad that I was able to help you a bit. so yeah, let me know about your news when you've got some!
  23. that's what I'd probably do - giving it more time - because it's clear you care about your relationship. And I'm sure you did it, but talk to him about your concerns when you've got the chance (not in a "threatening" way like saying "if you don't change, I'm gonna leave you", just tell him some things that could be improved in your relationship and that would make it better). If this didn't "work"... then I guess I'd think of something else to do.
  24. you're welcome! :nice: well, actually it's not that difficult to understand you considering what you're going through with your bf recently. To be honest I think you've got to be really brave for splitting up with someone too because it's not an easy thing to do - it's always a loss because all the feelings, sings of affection there were between you, will never be any more.
  25. This probably happens because you don't feel loved enough, that he doesn't care as much about you as he should, otherwise Im sure that you'd appreciate your freedom I wouldnt want to feel under control . but yeah, I get your feeling.
