O... M.... G For months and months and months I've been listening to the song "Parachute" by some band called Guster... I fell... alienated.. lol... and it's a great song too... But I guess now I know why it never sounded like Chris Martin singing it... OMG.... wow...

"Parachutes" Lyrics
Why is this the only thing that'll show on any of the lyrics sites I've tried (including this one)? "Parachutes in a haze, a stormy haze I'll be round, I'll be loving you always always here I am and I'll take my time here I am and I'll wait in line always always" It's odd... I'm 100% sure that there are more lyrics than this. (I can't even think what part of the song the above words is from).

wanna learn piano, but ... where to start?
I dunno about getting a coldplay book so early... Have you ever played the instrument before... like... actually played it...? If you haven't... go to a teacher... or buy a "teach yourself" book.... Don't purchase any big books of sheet music unless your confident you can play them... ps... learn ALL your scales and ALL your chords... it makes playing music WAYYY easier.

WTF is happening?!
They're all mature adults. With the kind of money they are making, and will continue to make, there not going to let some arguments get in the way. The thing that breaks up great bands is either time or other people. Time: They get old, lose their fanbase, their albums get worse and worse. Other people: On of them gets an offer from some guy, leaves the band.... One of them marries a bitch... (ie. Yoko Ono....)

I noticed...
You will learn on sheet music (or at least you should). If you end up taking lessons, make sure you learn how to read music off of a staff, or you might as well teach yourself from a book. Like I said above, there are some thnigs you can learn for yourself, but there are also things that you need to be taught to learn properly.

I noticed...
Without a teacher you won't get any recognition for you hard work, you can go at your own pace at home, and still have a teacher. This way, your teacher can set you up for the exams, because like it or not, if you don't have proof that you are level ***, then you won't get into any sort of music school, or any music program at a post secondary school.

Is learning to play the piano hard?
As soon as you're relativly skilled at piano, you'll be able to play any instrument you want with a little practise. Guitar, especially drums, bass, whatever. This is because you learn how to use all 5 fingers on both hands at the same time, so your rythme gets better than if you had learned to play another instrument. (cept drums, but you don't use 10 fingers).

Is learning to play the piano hard?
Piano is DEFINATELY very hard to learn. THe thing that makes learning it easy is that many people show genuine interest. I learned piano very fast when i first started (8 years ago), but not because of the teacher, but because I pracitised hard, and enjoyed what I was doing. If you aren't interested in the instrument you're playing, you are likely to be a complete failure. Also, there's a lot more to piano than keys and music. It is definately my favorate instrument, and i play many. Some people could play piano for 10 years, but can't write a note, ad-lip a solo, or build an entire song around a few chords. That's where musical skill comes it. Some people have it, some don't. I like to refer to skilled musicians as the same as skilled sports players. Many people play basketball their whole life, but are never very good. Same goes for musicians. There are only a select few of us that can call themselves skilled. Not just skilled at playing the instrument, but skilled at interpretation, writing, hearing the music, even something as simple as singing in key. Once I had to transpose the music in front of me, on the fly, down 6 semitones because the singer I was playing for was TERRIBLY out of key. Sorry, for going on, but yes, it is definately very hard to learn. I notice many people saying they can play the instrument, but not read music. You have to have ALL the skills in order to say you can really play your instrument.

Sup Hommie G's
Hey there, My names Brian, from Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada. I got interested in Coldplay about a year ago and have since done many covers of their songs with my friends. Speaking of which, is there a specific sticky thread or forum where you post your cover vids/mp3s?

Scientist Piano tab?
Hmmm, that's a good way, but the easier way, and (in my opinion) better way, is to just use the root note of the chord you are playing. For example: (c,d,f,a) x4 is a d minor chord, and its best to use a low D for the left hand. So, changes that I have for the left hand are: D, then Bb, then keep going with F until you go back to D. Trust me, it works better that way, especially if you have a guitar and bass player with you. I used both different ways on stage and the one i just wrote works better.
