  1. Thanks :) You are right, it is kind of difficult to take pictures at a show like that. Flash does nothing, and without flash you have to be really close, or keep still (almost impossible). I originally meant to review the show for the newspaper where I work, but it was a pain in the ass to get credentials with the Amway Arena. They suck with contact information. Imagine if I would have been let into the photo pit, if even for just two songs? Needless to say, I didn't get into the photo pit, and didn't review the show...I was bummed at first, but I'm over it. I still got to go and had a blast both times. I shot some video too, but I put it on YouTube and the quality of it just went to total crap once I uploaded it to there. Yours is rockin'...I think I even commented on your YouTube clip, lol. Post-concert depression is starting to sink in. Told some people at work today that I went to both shows, and all they could say is "Were you drunk when you decided to do that?" Ha, if they only knew I was one of many...
  2. Compared to what I've seen from you guys, my pictures are quite simple, but I love these out of the bunch that I shot.
  3. Thank you for those videos! You guys got so much stuff on film that night! I hope the dude who caught that shirt can sleep okay at night, knowing that Chris Martin is disappointed in him! Also, Chris's moves during "Yellow" make me so friggin' happy. After the concert, my friends and I were hanging around downtown, goofing off after a late dinner and I started doing the moves he does at about 1:55. I almost knocked a guy and his kid over 'cos I got really into it. Dancing like Chris is a hobby of mine. If I ever have the guts, I'll post an old picture of me doing the Chris, with everyone around me looking at me as if I was nuts. And Texasluvsjonny, you were so close, you could see Jonny stepping on his effects pedals...So lucky. Thanks for sharing the goods :)
  4. I guess third time's a charm with Coldplay and me! This was definitely my favorite of all the three times. Maybe because I was close, and the music was just louder and the atmosphere was just very excited. Also, the people next to me left the show after the acoustic set! Did they think the show was over?! You paid all that money, and then you leave halfway through the show? Did anyone else see people leaving after that? Highlights for me: -Chris changing the words to Politik (I love when he does that) and saying "15,000 Floridians on a Sunday night...Open up your eyes.." He said something before that, does anyone remember? He also said a few people in the crowd were up way past their bedtime! -I guess when they go up to the 'cheap' seats it really shocks everyone, because once again the biggest noise of the night came when they went up there. Chris said something like, "For all of those in the front, you can take a break from looking at us. For those of you back here...This is what we look like up close." Chris said "The Scientist" was written by Will after his football team ("that's soccer, by the way," Chris said) lost to Jonny's favorite football team. -Seeing this new version of "God Put A Smile..." up close! The runway stage wasn't too far from me, and man, Jonny really goes off on his whammy bar! Maybe 'cos I'm a guitar nerd, but it was so awesome to see his hands actually play the guitar and do that effect. You can't see that from the cheap seats. I've never wanted a Telecaster, but Jonny makes me want to go out and buy one, lol. -Chris just talking, talking, talking: During the start of the show he noticed a series of electronic Hooters advertisements that go around the arena, and I think he said he'd never seen so many Hooters signs in one place. He said that Coldplay doesn't endorse Hooters, because they're not the type of band that endorses Hooters. He said they WISH they were that kind of band, but they're not, lol. -When he was making his way up to the cheap sets, Chris said something like, "is it just me, or is every woman in Florida beautiful?" or something like that. Overall, one of my best weekends ever with Coldplay Friday and Sunday. Now I have to get back to work, but how am I supposed to get back to work after a Coldplay weekend? Someone help me! The Jonny sign looked great too, and your pictures are all so damn good! I have some video clips too, if you guys want me to put them up, I can. It looks like everyone who was there had a great time. The setlist stayed the same, so I guess those changes will be coming a little later. I was hoping, after reading Roadie #42's entry that it would be last night, but I guess not. (Sorry this was long. I just want to re-live it one more time!)
  5. I was in South Beach last night, and thought there would be a slight chance of running into the guys, but no chance. I wonder if they were hanging around there... Still had fun though, and tonight should be another amazing one. I've officially travelled to see Coldplay, and I LOVE IT. I'm going alone tonight, which kind of stinks, but if I could go to every show, I would. Alone and all. I hope everyone has fun tonight! If you see me, girl with yellow top, say hello if you want :) (Also, the ticket says no cameras, but has anyone been hassled 'cos of that? I didn't take my camera with me to Orlando, so I don't know how strict that is.)
  6. RiaViva: That is so awesome. From being right in there during the acoustic set, to Chris apologizing to you, and then giving you his harmonica. It must have sounded amazing being that close to it... Once in a lifetime experience at a big venue show like this one, that is! That kind of stuff never happens! Lucky!
  7. After months of sitting in my sock drawer, I finally took out my Coldplay ticket. What an amazing night, with a crowd just as, if not more, excited as the last time they came here! I was all the way at the top, and sadly the crowd up there was a bit dead- Believe it or not, I saw some people sitting down and texting during the show!!! But the actual show was beautiful, the orbs were so awesome to see in person, and the side stage was really cool looking too. Chris was also very, very talkative last night, and during the side stage mini-set, he wouldn't stop talking. After he introduced the band, he noticed the group in the front with the sign that said "We're from Devon," and he goes, "Hey! They're from my hometown!" Before he started "The Hardest Part" he said a bunch of little things, mainly probably talking to himself. I wish I could remember everything he said, but he did say he had never heard a crowd sing as good as the Orlando crowd. He introduced "The Hardest Part," by saying it wasn't the best Coldplay song. Not even first or second best....more like 17th best, he said. He changed the words to "God Put a Smile.." to say something about Florida which this morning after the show I cannot remember, but the crowd went crazy. The techno Talk was so damn good, my friend and I loved it so much. During the show, Chris mentioned how it was great to be in the states during this historic week, and I think during "Talk" he changed the lyrics from "I'm so scared about the future" to "I'm not scared about the future." Chris loves Barack Obama! I like to think that "Lovers in Japan" became "Lovers in Orlando" last night, because Chris changed the lyrics to say, "dreaming in the Orlando sun." I don't know if the crowd got that, but I went nuts! If I heard right, he dedicated the song to John Lennon. GIANT sing along during "Fix You," which surprised me. When they went to the back for the acoustic set, the crowd went absolutely insane. It was probably the loudest reaction of the night. Chris introduced "The Scientist" by talking about Joe the Plumber. Apparently he was once a member of Coldplay, and wrote the song, but was let go when he didn't want to spread the wealth! He didn't say what song it actually was until it started, and instead he sang "I'm...Joe the Plumber." The crowd started laughing, and he said something like "ok, ok, just kidding! this is a serious song." Lots didn't know "Death Will Never Conquer," but Chris is right: Will sounds like an angel. I loooooooved it. Also, I just gotta say, stopping the show after that acoustic set, and then starting it back up with "Politk" is genius. To me "Politik" is an opener, not for the middle of the set, so to start it up again like that? I was shaking it and jumping like a psycho, I loved it. And they closed with my Viva La Vida favorite, so it was perfect They didn't play "Yes," but the encore kicked ass purely for the diplomatic efforts shown by Jonny, Guy, Chris and Will with the Magic jerseys...again! Yeah! Great night. FANTASTIC. Can't wait for another round tomorrow in Sunrise! Thank you Coldplay for just coming here and looking like you absolutely loved it. I hope everyone here loved last night as much as I did. Jenjie, thank you for sharing those videos! And Texasluvsjonny, your signed single looks awesome, congratulations on getting that.
  8. Yes! I've taken them out of the drawer about about 5 times since I bought them, just to make sure they're still there and didn't vanish or something scary like that! I'm muy, muy, excited...Once again, just like the last time they came, I'm dreaming of songs they'll play (once again, hopelessly wishing for "Crests of Waves" or "Spies"). Does anyone have a dream song for the set? I've got too many, lol. The guys look like they've really gotten into the shows, all the videos people have posted look amazing. I hope my camera doesn't suck this time around!
  9. Less than a month left! For the first time, today I heard the radio station saying they were giving away tickets to the show (or to the High School Musical 3 premiere. Easiest decision ever). Wooooo! I'll be doing a wave (from all the way at the top seats), so count me in! Man, I cannot wait. I've had these tickets in my sock drawer for way too long!
  10. Oh no, I was not putting any words your mouth, lol...I've actually read interviews where Chris says he wrote those songs out of the blue, about no one in particular. My thing was directed toward him, if anyone (doubt he could give 2 craps on a stick about what I think, though), not at all at you. I even remember once he said he wrote "Yellow" because he saw the phonebook, and it had yellow pages. I don't know if he was joking or not (I still laughed, but I remember my friend was surprised, haha!) Anywho, posting up a picture of Chris from the 'old' days, then. Since I managed to bring that up. Also, once I was really bored and was watching Lifetime and this movie was on. I think it as called "Gossip," or some really lame made-for-TV movie name. Anywho, the guy in the movie looked like Chris during the good old X&Y years: Does anyone know who I'm talking about?
  11. Someone just tell me if I'm crazy for thinking this.... But I call Chris' bluff on that. A big part of me really does not believe some of those old songs like "I Bloom Blaum" and "Shiver" and "Warning Sign" are so abstract that they are not directed toward anyone. After Chris married his wife, I was way more curious about those old love songs. He doesn't have to say who they're about, but as long as he can admit that they're about someone, I'm happy. I can understand why someone who's so in love in the present with his soul mate can push the memory of the old loves to the backburner. I get a little sad when he says those songs had no connections to anyone though, 'cos they are so deep. Imagine if a guy wrote a song about your relationship, but then years later says it wasn't really about you. Little heartbreak there, almost enough to make me write a song, haha :) And so my rant isn't a complete waste of space:
  12. Agreed, but I don't mean physically either. To me (I don't know about everyone else, so I speak for myself here) he seems like a good guy. Just to prove that Chris Martin isn't physical perfection every single time, I'll make my first picture post to this thread a not-so-flattering picture. But I still think he's great. I don't know if he has bad breath though. I remember someone caught his shirt when he threw it out to the crowd in Orlando two years ago, and in the review, she said his shirt was very, very smelly, lol. So yeah, here's my contribution (Thanks Allegra, for directions on how to post this!): Yay Coldplay :)
  13. Maybe this is the right place to go on about this, but I'm listening to "See You Soon," and I started to think about how Chris Martin is really the perfect man...Someone asked me this one, and I said I was sure it was him. If there's another man out there who's modest, funny, loves to dance crazy without shame and writes beautiful songs like "Crests of Waves," and also happens to have a great smile (I love that second picture of him laughing, thank you for sharing that!) and gorgeous eyes, someone please tell me where he is. I just want to tell him that I might love him, lol. If he's English, then that's just icing on the cake too. So yeah, I guess I can say I appreciate all of Chris Martin. Too bad there's only one of him. (And if I knew how to post a picture, I'd share one with you all, but for now I'll just say that this thread is the best boredom killer. Thank you :)
  14. I got my tickets in the mail yesterday, woo! I also wanted to know if anyone here knew how to contact the Amway Arena? They don't really have a proper website, as they're just linked through the Orlando Venues web site. I'm a reporter, and although I strictly cover government news for the newspaper, I begged my editor to let me review the Coldplay show for the entertainment section. He said it was fine, but I'd like to know how to go about doing the media relations thing. I've called twice, and both times I've been directed to some generic Ticketmaster line! I just want to check, and it sucks 'cos I can't get through. I can't wait, it's going to be great for everyone, regardless of where you're sitting. I'm expecting a crowd bigger and louder than last time, and last time it was loud! Ahh, I can't wait (I already said that) I hope everyone has fun!
  15. I just got my ticket...Ticketmaster is a real pain, I swear. It's sad that there's not many alternatives and this is what we have to put up with. I'm in the 202 section with 3 of my friends, so even though it's way up there we've still got a nice view and we've vowed to rock out and sing and dance non-stop throughout the show. It's going to be great to go with them because I'm going to the Sunrise gig by myself. November, hurry up! I hope everyone got all their tickets too! I think these are going to go fast. Who'd ever think that Orlando was full of Coldplay lovers? Not that I'm complaining! But remember when they played Hard Rock Live during "A Rush of Blood to the Head" tour? I was in high school! I didn't go, but it's hard to believe that Coldplay once played a small venue where you could stand wherever you wanted, all under $50 bucks, ha. See you all in November :)
  16. Tom, your kids are not going to want any concessions, 'cos the show is going to be that amazing. If I had kids, I'd be taking them too! And KelKell, do you live in Central Florida? 'Cos it takes me about three hours to get to Sunrise. Right about now I am wishing I was still in college in Miami, just because of the convenience, lol. My friend semi-pressured me to go to the BankAtlantic Center with him last week to see The Cure. That drive was a pain, but The Cure played one of the longest sets of any band I have ever seen live. I hope Coldplay gives them a run for their money and plays just as long! I can't believe I'm seeing them again. I'm trying to wrap my head around it. I hope everyone going has fun. I know it's months away, but still..Have fun!
  17. Just got a decent seat; I guess I can't complain. I think they're better seats than the last time I saw them, section 102, row 1 Does anyone know if they tend to re-sell quickly? I'm only asking because some crazy emergency might come up and I won't be able to make it. And I know this is probably not the place to do it, but screw Ticketmaster and their outrageous "convenience" fees! This ticket would have cost me less than $100 if it wasn't for all that extra crap they add on to make money for themselves! Roll on November!
  18. Very tempted to go to Ft. Lauderdale. I told myself after the last tour that the next time they came, I would go to all the Florida gigs I could get to... ...Two years later, gas is even more a you-know-what to pay for and I hate driving for more than an hour, especially if I'm going by myself. I don't want to fall asleep on the road or something, you know? But it's Coldplay (that's what I keep telling myself). I was hoping some people here could maybe give me some advice, haha. I'm trying to get my old roomie to go with me, since she still lives down there, but if she doesn't want to come with, is it still worth it to get a ticket and go, or should I just stick to Central Florida?
  19. Woah, just a few minutes later and it's totally dissapeared from the home page...Hmm..
  20. Hello Coldplay lovers from Orlando! It has been tooooo long (love some of you guys' avatars with pictures from the last Coldplay gig here!) . I've spent pretty much the whole day listening to "Viva La Vida" and I just checked out Ticketmaster's website. My Orlando home page lists the date for ticket sales as 6/28/08, but then when you click on the "more info" link, it says: "Sorry, but this event no longer exists in our database." What gives? Seems like it was up for a while, but then it was taken down? Anywho, I hope everyone's having fun on this Coldplay-riffic day and I'll be right there with you lot rocking out live when they come back here. Woo :)
  21. I gave a thought, and I had a few that would do. I think my first choice would have to be "Amsterdam" or the cover of "Hunting High And Low," I love that version. "Harmless" is also another good one. It's hard though. Good luck to the person who wins :)
  22. Think: What song would you pick? If you won and had to only pick one..that would be hard. At least for me it would.
  23. nevermind... it's definitely a different version. i just noticed the length of the song and they are not the same. the old version is longer than the one that's up on iTunes right now. sorry for the inconvenience ;)
  24. Uhh yeah...I did some searching about the net and answered my own question...I guess this thread can dissapear. Sorry again
  25. Whaaat? :O What did Paul Weller say about Chris? I've always pictured him to be this super cool classy old man. I can't believe it...
