The Damon Albarn thread.
I know, the interview is very sweet :wacky: even though the interview is awkward and Damon appears kind of uncomfortable with it, I still cant help but love it. Argh, you have dedication putting together that setlist!! I would struggle so much, it would take me a while to put it together. Tracy Jacks ft Noel???   YES to 'You're So Great', that would be magical to hear live. Wow. All of those songs are spot on though :D

Incase anybody here wanted to see the Jools Holland and has not managed to, here are some videos of the three songs Damon performed altogether, and 2 separate short interviews he done. Oh really! So I am guessing they done the shots over like different days or something to make up for it? I am going to go and watch that video again now

Wow  that must have felt weird, Graham responding to something you done, even if it was not in the best way haha. Wait, he was in the Universal video?

 Yea, I suppose its just typical Damon in interviews. That was so funny when they showed him that old clip, covering his face with his hands

Hahaha, Damon seemed so fed up being interviewed on Jools. Apple Carts sounded pretty good though! Will be interesting to see what else he plays on fridays show.

I don't see why anyone who knows his back catalogue would refer to Parklife, which just shows really how little that journalist must have knew about him then.... Damon is on Jools Holland next week here, thats a half hour show on tuesday, with an extended hour long show on friday. Playing Dr Dee songs. Ah thanks for that interview Liz, thats lovely! :wacky: aww, its lovely when you can tell how much he cares about playing in Blur. And its good to hear he would want to make another Gorillaz record one day.

:D very nice. I would have to consider this 21 box at some point.....tbh though do not think I could afford it for quite a while. We shall see.

Damon is a troll  yea sounds about right. Thanks for the scans! I have ordered it online so I shall just read the interview when I get it in the post :) But it looks like a good interview.

I think its just a general interview about everything really! Here's the press release for it; 'Interviewed by Rob Fitzpatrick, Damon talks about writing Dr Dee in his "pastoral place in Devon", how there aren't two different Damons but "four or six". And about what makes Blur reunions possible, that speech at the BRITs and his part in the Olympics. Word Magazine is out now on the shelves and online.'

I do not agree with sites such as Via-go-go, but if it was the only way I could get a ticket, at a price I could afford to pay, I would go for it.

Yea, tis true, its clearly just how the whole Gorillaz project has evolved over the three albums, perhaps its just ended at its natural conclusion? Who knows. Its just how its naturally occurred I think. Not anyone's 'fault' so to speak.

Fair enough though, for Jamie, for him to stop playing his part in the project if he felt that his work was not coming across in the way he wanted it to. Looking forward to the Dee album now!

That is sad about him an Jamie, I hope they start being 'friends' again soon, even if we never see another gorillaz album. I dont like to think about them two as not talking...however silly that sounds. Tbh I do not mind what he does, as long as he is making music that I enjoy, and by the sound of this, he will not be giving up recording and playing music in some form, for a very long time.

Ugh that interview is a good find, thanks Lizzy! Still need to read it, but not looking forward to it judging by people reactions to it :( On the upside, the photos of him look rather nice  :nice:

I'd never watched it before, he does look quite distracted and sad, I agree. 2003, around think tank time... How amazing, that Bowie wanted to sing it with him though :nice:

Yea it a decent album, but you don't get a lot of presence from Damon vocally. Except for two songs I think. It's good musically though as a merging of different things.

That's the thing as well, Damon and grahams friendship is so beautiful, so of course it must all have a special place in their hearts :nice:

Exactly that is the point, they simply have their own separate lives now which is obviously only natural. I also think they could put something together but on their own terms, when they are available and more relaxed pace and schedule. Who knows!

Who knows what is or isn't going on with blur, they all say contradicting things. I would love them to release an album or ep because I believe that 'magic' is still there which was evident from the 2009 shows. I don't really know if damon is as dedicated or indeed any of them, but I think there is a part of them all that wants blur to be together.

Again, totally agree, like with Radiohead, I think OK Computer is their masterpiece, 100%, but with Blur.....I couldnt really pick one. They've had many amazing eras and albums, but not really that one point that was their pinnacle. I am late, but Happy Birthday for yesterday DAMON! :D He is such a style chameleon

I definately agree about The good the bad and then queen project being one of his best albums. Most definately, I mean I am happy to hear whatever he is doing, so much variety, but at the same time, there is a special place in my heart for Blur for me  and he needs to do an album under his own name because well, he is far too talented to not do so, and get the credit for it sorely by himself.
