Nope, in the building I work in as a security guard, they are not my colleagues. I've had conversations with a few genuinely nice people here, but I don't work with them and see them literally as they leave the door. They often have events on here, so a lot of people who have never seen me and never will see me ever again. It's a completely different situation. I really don't get how you can supposedly value life and then allow a child to be born into circumstances where it is not wanted, when an abortion takes place it is not a child, it is merely the potential to be a child. So a girl who is 16, has no job, the father want anything to do with her, her single parent mother can barely afford to keep the 2 of them getting by. She, by your standards, would have to give birth to this child as she doesn't meet your crieteria for abortion. She can't afford to raise the child, the child wont have a proper upbringing and she's going to resent the child for taking over her life, it's a fucking terrible situation to be in. But she has to "deal with the consequences" just because she didn't have sex with her brother, it seems ridiculous to me.

It is though. I was ready to argue about it with people when I was talking about Blastocysts used in Stem Cell Research, they are not alive, they are just potential to be alive. It's not used as a birth control though, like I said it's a last resort. But if you are not equipped to raise a child and it is not going to be raised in ideal conditions, why do it? You're potentially ruining your own life and giving the child a miserable life too. When an abortion takes place it is genuinely a collection of cells, it doesn't resemble a human in the slightest, how can you kill what isn't alive?

I hate the arrogance of the term "pro-life". Abortion is a last resort but it's necessary ins some situations.

I don't mean to apply attitudes to entire nations a la Mark, but I gather from talking to my Swedish friend that this kind of thing isn't uncommon at all in Sweden. I mean obviously there are underlying issues that have to do with your upbringing and that could technically differ from nation to nation. For example time I've spent in America (outside of the major cities like New York, where I imagine they just ignore each other like it's perfectly natural) I noticed that they almost go too far in being polite, to the point where you can tell it's fake and it's just to make you think better of them. That's a slightly different thing to what I was talking about but I still think it's valid.
