I hate being the one trying. Whenever I hit a rough patch with my friends I always try to break the ice, not making jokes but just talking to them when there's an unforgiving silence...and nothing. They just nod, smile and continue to be quiet (or talking between them for that matter, I'm not involved in the conversation).

You're so right, I've gone to movies both with friends and alone, and doing it by myself is better. I hate when the person next to me asks 'what did he/she say, I didn't get to read it (most movies are subtitled over here)' Big no-no. Do not speak during the movie. I know I can laugh at the things I understand and I don't have to explain my reasons, I love it. Somehow I get that same feeling when I listen to music alone, singing and analyzing the lyrics at the same time.

I'm with you. I could never leave with a flatmate, I have lots of unreasonable habits that I enjoy by myself only. I've never lived alone, though I'm wishing to get a job as soon as I finish highschool to be able to afford a place of my own. I shared a room with my brothers til last year, I sleep alone now and you wouldn't believe the difference. I need my own space.
