Yep, absolutely! :) beans must have been below you. She was basically opposite us on a similar level. We had a nice Cross of St George Flag / Japanese flag waving session at each other at one point. Was so great. I feel like I've known some of you guys for years, but for many of you I only met you in the last week. A big hug and  to all. Unforgettable night :)

Congratulations Jen and Ian!
Hehe, yah I thought so. I suggested 'Is This Joe's Jumper' too but that idea was shot down pretty quick :laugh3:

Congratulations Jen and Ian!
I spent the gig tonight sat next to Jen and little unborn-busybeejenburns tonight and I think the mom might have let slip that 'Glowstick', 'Rude Steward' and 'Pete Rocks' are all on the shortlist for names

Thank you for the kind words :) Ah, it's good to keep a critical eye out I think. I believe out of the six shows I've reviewed on this Viva Tour Manchester and tonight were the only ones I mentioned Chris' voice not being perfect - at all other shows he was on top form, even the best I have ever seen him over the last 9 years. Other shows I think the main problems had been the crowd at one or two, the slightly short setlists, and the lack of Politik (of course!!!!!) at Brixton. But, Chris is tired now. He can relax. Sleep satisfied! So, goodnight, Chris and the boys, sweet dreams, you deserve them for all of the magic you've shared with us over all this time :)

Almost didn't make it to the gig today, in fact I almost gave my ticket away outside the Tube station, but that is another story, and I am so very glad I did attend... Not much energy or inspiration to write a full review tonight, so just a few observations. We were sat on Jonny's side, third block from the front next to the aisle, an absolutely superb position to view the whole show, nip to the bar and for food, and also down to the pitch standing where the secret and illicit ciggie-smoking took place :P White Lies were good. A lot of the songs had grown on me a great deal since seeing and hearing them for the first time in Manchester. I'll be checking them out, they have a few very nifty little tracks (even if they do harp on about death too much!) Girls Aloud - EEURGH. Awful. The sound system just wasn't set up for them at all it seems. All other acts sounded great, but GA were just thumping bass and horrible screechy vocals from where I sat. I don't mind pure pop, but this was just pure poop. Jay-Z rocked. Hard. Still a few songs that didn't really hit the mark with me, but his really good stuff is REALLY good. The crowd went crazy for him, and perhaps it was partly the different perspective from Manchester (front row) but the awesome setting of Wembley really showed him in his best light and all his pomp. Lights were much better than Manchester, and I think it suited his show to have the enclosed stadium-setting rather than the very flat and spread out cricket ground of Manchester. SO, Coldplay! There's not much to say here really, lol. It seemed a much slicker operation at Wembley than Manchester, with the different bits of the set hanging together much tighter and far better organised. The band, roadies, all the crew really nailed this tonight, it went like clockwork. It was great to be further back than the last gig too, to have the perpective of the whole scene. Chris didn't seem to play too much to the front rowers again, but I didn't mind this time as I wasn't front row :P And the scene was GORGEOUS. The lighting was brilliant, the video screens looked absolutely awesome from a distance away. It was mindblowing to see Coldplay play to this many people in this setting and seem so at home. Seriously good stuff :) Ah, as always the gig passed in a flash. Before I really knew it Politik was on and I was planning my hasty exit after my beloved LiJ. Chris seemed quite tired again to me, but more relaxed and his voice less croaky than at Manchester. He really seemed to be having fun most of the time. I was bit disappointed he seems to have ditched the best bit of In My Place ('singing please please please...') and again only picked it up halfway through the phrase. LiJ was probably the weakest vocal of the night (BOO!), and he changed 'Osaka sun' to something unintelligible ('London sun'?) which always pisses me off :( (Imagine Bono changing it to Late Tuesday Afternoon, Bloody Late Tuesday Afternoon, or REM singing Losing my Agnosticism). So, not a great night for vocals, but everything else was almost perfect, and in many senses things were better than I could ever have imagined. What a long way we've come! From first gig of the tour at Brixton, to the last at Wembley...I can't believe it's all over. But, Viva La Vida, indeed. Special shout out - the lovely Meg from Lebanon who led me hand in hand around the standing area in search of beer and ciggies :sunny: Villains of the night - the catering crew who didn't know their fish and chips from their packets of crisps (and refused to sell me either even though they had both) and also refused to get a glass of water for a pregnant lady - shame on you :( Tired Tonsu out xxx

Cheeky so'n'so! :laugh3: I recreated the Travelodge breakfast experience by giving myself a tiny portion of breakfast cereal, watering down my orange juice, and leaving the coffee brewing overnight. Good times! :D

I'm having great trouble getting myself out of bed, gig or no gig :laugh3:

Next tour?
I think it'll be Glastonbury plus a South American mini-tour in the first half of next year, followed by a new album Spring/Summer 2011, and resultant tour (probably their last).

Yeah, the boys have been working their whole career from the very first days they practiced in the flat near Camden to play this gig. I'm really speechless the first night has happened. It'll be fscinating to see where they go from here (with releases and touring). Exactly the same. Another sell-out.

'Picnic At The Park' - post-concert Coldplayer Meet Up - RUSSELL SQUARE, LONDON (20 SEPT 2009 @ 1PM)
P.S. If I am fit to travel into London for the picnic on Sunday should I bring my cassette/cd player with batteries so we can have some music?

'Picnic At The Park' - post-concert Coldplayer Meet Up - RUSSELL SQUARE, LONDON (20 SEPT 2009 @ 1PM)
It will be very hard to sell them at the gig (except to touts, for little money). I would get on Scarlet Mist.com asap!! It's a very small park so don't worry, there will only be one big group sitting there! :)

The point is: now they have been converted (as we all were, at some point) :)

Pre-Wembley Coldplayers on Trafalgar Square webstream on Thursday 5-6pm UK time!
No, we went from Trafalgar to the Dublin Castle (pub/live bar in Camden where I believe Coldplay played their first gig under the name 'Coldplay'). Some others then went to the Bakery...not so many, and they weren't so drunk :P We were on the wrong side at the plinth for the web-streaming. The main cameras point towards the fountain to the south-east and the area to the north-east. Oh well!

Sorry about the lack of smile - I'm outta lip-gloss (think Chris ate mine last night)! Aw and I'm sorry, but I do have concerns about the band, which is why tomorrow will probably be my last ever 'proper' gig I go to (I'll still be going to the buzz gigs and acoustic/live sessions for radio in London whenever I can). I'm sick of the same old set for over a year, and the comedy antics are fine, but on the Parachutes and Rush tours they were just an intense, smouldering musical experience, and I really feel like these other distractions take away from that completely, and it's so sad :( Anyway, enough of that! My Dad has some lippy I think so I'll just go borrow that and put my smile back on :) Oh wow, anyone got a linky for download?

They NEVER would for this show Hester, they've been looking forward to and dreaming of this gig since they first started out! They'd never risk any little change at this late stage that could lead to a mess up I don't think (especially as Chris worries so, bless him :))

Ooh, how so?? Is there a download link somewhere?

Aw, not again. They already did that at the o2 last year. LESS comedy antics please Coldplay, MORE serious music. LESS stuff like Billie Jean, MORE Shiver, Everything's Not Lost, Warning Sign, PROPER GPASUYF. Dammit I love this band but they're so frustrating at times!!

Lots of folk seem surprised that many concert-goers are more impressed than they thought they'd be by the gig. But, you have to remember that this is London. More than any other area in the Bristish Isles, people will go to something just because it's a 'big event' even if they have little interest in it. And, most of those 'casual' attendees will no doubt be blown away by the gig :D It's really a shame they play so infrequently here, as they'd have so many more hardcore fans. But the States is more important to Coldplay than anywhere else in the world :(

Quite simply, Coldplay don't play enough gigs in London (or the UK as a whole) to prove to everyone just how amazing they really are. I have a coupla theories on that, but it's probably for another thread.

Me neither, I don't even bother to take my camera now, it's just too much of a distraction from the gig for me :)

It's very possible. The people in charge of these things at the BBC are, from insiders, incompetent.
