The Philippines need your help
I have edited the post about making donations in-kind for people living in Cali to say that Joe (Jsalyers) also now has the contact info for the friend of Ioshi. Anyone who can make a donation of ANY goods to help, which will be shipped free to the Philippines by Ioshi's friend, should now PM him AND me for the details, so that hopefully you will definitely catch one of us online.

Dublin Castle meet-up,: Camden: 11th October
Good man!! There's an error though - Tonsu knows where all of these places are, he just can't remember the bus numbers to take us to them - but it's easy to figure out - actually should be quite an adventure :P Oh, and I think there are two spots missed off the list. Well, one, really - Violet Hill, but it is just around the corner from Abbey Road which is a great place to visit. Must be on the tour! Can't wait to see you all, hope many more will join our party :)

HELP RED CROSS AND UNICEF HELP VICTIMS OF NATURAL DISASTERS
Thank you so much for posting this Nancy. So many disasters recently, so many people needing our help...we are so privileged to have our homes, our food, warmth, and safety, when so many right now have none of them...:(

The official Chavi and Carla and friends off topic thread
Hello lovely people!! :nice: Hope you are all well :) I'm tired and just popping in, but can people try to please bump the threads about the disaster in the Philippines from time to time, please? Just to keep them in view for everyone (even though they are stickies now - thanks to our own dear Lore?) Many thanks, lots of love your very own stone elephant statue, Tonsu xxx

Californians please donate goods to aid the Philippines with FREE shipping
I am still waiting for news from Ioshi about when any donated goods will need to be with her friend by. She has sent a message to her friend in Cali, but Ioshi is no doubt sleeping now after another hard day working as a volunteer in her home village. For those not in Cali, there is much information about how we might help on the other thread about the disaster: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?p=3515014#post3515014 And, of course, there have been a succession of terrible natural events these last few days, it is not only the Philippines that needs the help of the world right now :(

The Philippines need your help
Thank you for posting inengsol, but worrying news indeed :( An inspiring message written by Ioshi some days ago: 'Saturday, September 26, 2009 - Typhoon Ondoy came and caught the Philippines off-guard, leaving us in turmoil. The typhoon was predicted, but nobody anticipated the grave danger that came with it. Everyone is suffering. This tragedy has made such an impact on the lives of every single Filipino, not only those living in the Philippines but around the world. Suddenly, the world became small, it seemed like we are all connected, like one big family. Help which was then impossible has now made easy. It broke barriers. Distance did not even become a hindrance. Then I wondered, should things like these happen first before we start caring? Do we have to experience the gravest situations to break the barriers and reach out and extend help? This devastation we are facing at the moment is a call for everyone. We should stop blaming the government for their shortcomings and instead, we should question our actions. Its useless crying over spilled milk. I am challenging everyone who are sitting comfortably in their homes to have some compassion with the people who are sleeping in cartons and tattered clothes, whose houses got swept by the flood. Let us be inspired by the heroes who bravely rescued their fellow in distress, those who sacrificed their lives for others. Let us help in any way we can, donate goods and money, volunteer to cook or distribute goods, fervently pray for us and for every Filipino to be strong, to be hopeful and to be able to surpass these trials that are shaping our faith. Let us be grateful that we are shielded with God's protection, and let us continue sharing what we have.'

Terrible news that I was alerted to by Ioshi. A second typhoon which could be even more powerful than the last one may hit the Philippines on Saturday: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/8285721.stm

Oh, you've stickied it Lore? Thank you so very much indeed, that is wonderful! I've messaged Ioshi asking if there is a time limit on getting any donations of goods to her friend in California, she did not mention one earlier today. I'd just like to stress again that if anyone in the area can help, I am sure no donation is too small. These people need even the very basics of life right now: blankets to keep warm, soap and other basic toiletries to keep clean, and tins of food (also Ioshi suggested packets of instant food, but nothing perishable).

Please feel free to leave messages of support and encouragement here even if you can't help. This will 'bump' the thread and make it more likely that any Californians who can help will see it. Many thanks :)

Californians please donate goods to aid the Philippines with FREE shipping
I already posted this on the other thread, but I hope it is OK to post a thread on its own so Californians may spot the opportunity more easily to help some of those families devastated by the recent floods in the Philippines. A member here, Ioshi, has a friend in California who can ship any in-kind donations, whatever you can spare, for free if you can deliver them to her. Here is Ioshi's message (she cannot get online at the moment herself): Message from Ioshi: As you already know, I'm at Bulacan at the moment, people from around our farm lost their homes as they got caught in landslides. Oh and my Dad's crops got destructed too. That's sad cos most of these harvests were given to my Dad's laborers and their family. :( Nobody's online, so if its okay, can you please post this over at the Philippines help thread? We are really in need of more in-kind donations (canned goods, used clothes, blankets, for personal grooming like soap, toothpastes and toothbrushes and all that stuff), if ANYONE, please, who's living in California, we are in dire need and I'm asking you to donate thru my friend, Fides Magtoto, she is also a Filipina living in California, she got a free shipping. Just tell her you are a friend of mine (Ioshi Enriquez) so that she won't get freaked out. If they could drop off the goods here, this is my friend's home address (I don't want to put Ioshi's friend's contact details on the internet so please PM me AND Jsalyers for contact info, that way hopefully you will catch at least one of us online. She lives in Anaheim Hills, and her school is in Camarillo)

Your favourite part in LRLRL that is different from album version
At the Manchester gig in the front row I was really surprised to see both Jonny play guitar gently, and Guy his bass, on stage during Postcards. I couldn't here any difference, it still just sounded like piano to me, but they were definitely playing.

CD Giveaway from within the 2009/10 shows - post your experiences
Manchester distribution was a joke (didn't see ANY) and Wembley Saturday was a joke (didn't see ANY). That's four CDs my group were promised that we never even had the chance to get, and some of us have only subsequently been able to get copies from the kindness of people here. An absolute farce of organisation, and it was clear right from the start of this leg that giving them out at the end wasn't working....why not give each person one CD as they entered??? I've made emails about this, but no answers yet. A complete fiasco from start to finish :veryangry2:

The Philippines need your help
Ioshi messaged that she has gone to her home province of Bulacan where the situation is just as bad. She can't access Coldplaying from there and so won't be able to post for some days probably, but may be able to send updates through myself or others she is in touch with.

Ioshi, wishing you well (and a lot of strength) for your volunteering efforts today to help the stricken people of Manila. You are all in our thoughts and prayers :)

42. One of their best ever songs for me, and this version is just amazing :o It's pretty funny, but ruins one of the best lines in the song for me :\ Otherwise LRLRL is pretty-near perfect. If I could only scratch my cd or something so that Clocks didn't play (am so sick of that song )

I don't know if this link on the latest news from Oxfam's been posted, but it can't hurt to re-post if it has: http://www.oxfam.org.uk/oxfam_in_action/emergencies/philippines-floods09.html
