  17. Ok this is my third thread i have created in quick sucesstion, but i am doing you guys a favour introducing you to these new and bands. Ok Ian Brown isn't a new act, he has been about going on 20 years. The band i will now tell you about, aren't spring chickens either, they have been about for going on 10 years now and hail from Failsworth Manchester. Actually all the bands and artists i have brought to you are from Manchester. James Mudriczki, Kevin Matthews, Neil McDonald and Tony Szuminski, who make up Puressnce where signed to Island records and unleased their self titled debut album, in 1996. However the band had released several ep's on independent labels, one of the most sought after ep's is Petrol Skin released in 1992. It wasn't until the album "Only Forever" was release that the band had a commercial sucess. With continious radio plat "This Feeling" crashed into the Top 40. No sooner had they entered the limelight, than they where out of it again. Singles released since such as "It Doesn't Matter Anymore" and "All I Want" have failed to hit the same hieghts. This is not because they aren't as good as "This Feeling" their label Island, just didn't feel the need to promote them, because they weren't U2. The third and latest album to be relaesed was "Planet Helpless" yet again it failed to reach the top 40, and unfortunalty Island decided to drop them. After reading this quick biography, you probably notice a destinct lack of success, but i will say what i have said so many times before "being big isn't what is all about, being important is" and this band with the raw emotion they portray in their lyrics are a damn fine band, and one you MUST discover. Recommended Listening ... *This Feeling *Traffic Jam In Memory Lane *Casting Lazy Shadows *Comfort When You Smile
  18. Another Manchester band, these guys are new on the scene, and have to date released two singles, with very limited commercial success. But then being big isn't what it is about, being important is what counts. How many of you lot have heard of Puressence i'm guessing none, but they are one hell of a band. Anyway back onto the RAin baND. Having released two singles "Fist Of Fury" and "Easy Rider", this band have been supported by Steve Lamacq one Radio One, in the UK. A new single "Knee Deep And Down" as well as an album currently untitled is due for release in June/July. They have recently supported acts such as The Music, Ash and The Cooper Temple Clause. It is imperative that you discover what i am sure you lot are missing out on. Recommended Listening ... *Fist Of Fury *Domestic Terrorist *Easy Rider *Underdogs
  19. There is Mr Brown on the left of the photograph, i really can't stress enough how much you have to check this mans work out, he is one of the most important figures in recent British music history.
  20. This is a picture of the touring band. The guy in the middle in Goldfinger, he is the percussionist and a top bloke and the guy in the green jacket is Aziz, a mighty fine guitarist.
  21. He called his debut album "Unfinished Monkey Business" he plays to the tag he has been given, check him out, you will thank me for it.
  22. Ian Brown ... He's the guy in my avatar, and a musical legend. Along with the Happy Mondays his band (The stone Roses) ruled the Madchester scene. He resembles a monkey, and is proud of it, so proud in fact during the recording of the The Stone Roses second and last album titled the "The Second Coming" he made fellow band member Reni, Mani (know Primal Scream's bassist) and John Squire call him "King Monkey" With his unique vocal's (he sounds like he is strangling a cat) and amazing lyrics, he must be one of Britains musical heroes. His three solo albums my not have the crytical acclaim of the two he made with the Stone Roses, but they are still mighty fine. Recommend Listening (solo work) ... *Gravy Train *F.E.A.R *El Mundo Pequeno *Dolphins Where Monkeys *My Star *Whispers Recommended Work (Stone Roses) ... *Sally Cinnamon *Fools Gold *She Bangs The Drums *Waterfalls *I Anm The Resurrection
