  1. mona lisa smile- saw it today. it was a well done movie with a great cast. i'm into modern art so i found it interesting to see how its early appearances were received. i also thought the movie was interesting as a young women who attends a college not too far from wellesley. thankfully things have progressed! i'm a big fan of julia stiles, i think she is a fantastic actress. kirsten dunst also did a good job in her role of mega-bitch. maggie glynehall (sp?) was terrific, as was the girl who played connie (not sure of her name). all in all it was a good movie. i'd say 3 out of 4 stars, it was very enjoyable, but not something you necessarily need to rush to the theatre to see.
  2. i do agree the howie live experience rocks... but im not sure how that translates to him playing with a full band-- a crossover experience i think mn will also have trouble with... i think that matt is definitely the strongest lyricist though. :)
  3. i have to go with yellow, twill always be one of my favorite songs!! but... when i saw them live, everything's not lost took the cake, and i love rush of blood to the head also. so much coldplay love :)
  4. i have tickets for tomorrow!! :D have read the books tho so i know what's in store. i have heard/read that they dont go back to hobbiton at the end of the film... an interview with the hobbit guys (wood, astin, monaghan, boyd) said none of them were really keen on doing it at that point. at any rate, can't wait to see it, ill have more comments tomorrow night.
  5. matt nathanson "beneath these fireworks" but, i got the coldplay live cd for my birthday yesterday and it has been added into the rotation :D everything's not lost rocks my world.
  6. lesser known but in my opinion most talented :D matt also cites U2 as a huge influence, and plays an excellent cover of radiohead's 'fake plastic trees'... similar to howie... but matt is also a big lover of 80s hair band rock... and often leads sing alongs to bon jovi's 'living on a prayer'. he also plays some cat stevens covers... its impossible to put him in a box. he rules. :)
  7. hmm, i just got an idea for a T-shirt ooooh... can i see what it looks like when you're done?
  8. exams suck, they start next week for me-- good thing i have none scheduled though :P don't worry i still have to hand in 2 fifteen page papers by the end of the week :dozey:
  9. hey all, i would like to urge everyone to check out upcoming singer/songwriter matt nathanson. if you are at all interested in singer/songwriters i can pretty much guarantee you will be impressed by matt. his website is http://www.mattnathanson.com. i have seen him twice this fall and he is energetic, disarmingly funny, and extremely talented in addition to being very very nice and down to earth. so check him out :D
  10. i wish that we could all just get into the heads of members of the opposite sex for the day, because to be quite honest as a girl most of the guys that have approached me have been the 'lee' types, who i am completely uninterested in, not to mention they are usually uninterested in me as well. i wish everyone could just walk around with signs saying "this is what i want." i don't know what the correct answer, but if its any consolation, there are plenty of girls that are sitting around being angry and bitter about guys not liking them... or at least one, which is me....
  11. haha, i hate kenny g. my mom has the christmas album and plays it to death every year. plus, his hair is ridiculous, i agree. :P
  12. tried to get rh tickets for beacon theatre through w.a.s.t.e... didnt happen but i guess a lot of people would be trying to get tickets through such a small venue. as for ticketmaster although their fees are a ripoff i got my coldplay tickets through them so i will love them forever, show was sold out within an hour for MSG and used ticketmaster's website... you can print the tickets off too, at least in the NYC area, and its much cheaper and more efficient. especially for those crazed fans like myself who like the tickets in their hands as soon as possible!! :P
  13. eep! this is hard for me but ill give it a try: (in no order) 1. yellow - coldplay 2. fake plastic trees - radiohead 3. this is not an exit - saves the day 4. wonderwall - oasis 5. free fallin - tom petty 6. where the streets have no name - u2 7. holes to heaven - jack johnson 8. last nite - the strokes 9. hey jude - the beatles 10. never is a promise - fiona apple whew. thats not a definitive list, but it comes close i guess. :)
  14. dead poets society is a great movie... a beautiful mind is one of my favorite movies, has almost every emotion in the book!
