  2. well, i guess you can't use beatles if you are talking about the best song today, but my favorite right now is "happy everafter in your eyes" by ben harper
  3. In case everyone forgot, there was another guitar player positioned offstage for yellow and the scientist (just the songs i know for sure of)...this tour, with the possible exeptions of some keyboards, and guitar loops made by johnny, they played it all live....that is why there is no acoustic guitar on fix you or white shadows like you hear on the album...that is also why there isn't any other keyboard on clocks, everything is raw and live, and perhaps that is why they didn't change it up...but there were special instances where they would change it up---an example is when they played Parachutes.....they also played shiver......i mean, when you realease an album as big as X and Y, and there are a lot of people who only know coldplay because of there hit songs, you have to satisfy the masses at these concerts.....i saw them 3 times and everytime the setlist was different...once it was practically all X and Y, but then two weeks later they played all but 3 songs of AROBTTH, including amsterdam, which is my personal favorite.......i mean, i would love to hear a song like easy to please or see you soon, but i missed their last tour, because they didn't come near where i live, and this tour was as good as you could have ever hoped for

  6. First of all, Blackbird is a great idea, and whoever doesn't know blackbird, go buy the White Album and do yourself a favor, because you need to learn the Beatles, for real--no offense though....Drug's Don't Work would be great to, and when Richard is there, he could help....Have you heard Ben Harper cover it???? Here's what I would like to see for an acoustic set 1. Easy to Please (a classic) or maybe Careful Where You Stand 2. Touble or Green Eyes (a currently great idea by coldplay) 3. 'Til Kingdom Come/Ring of Fire (they have got to play this, this is why they have an acoustic set) 4. We Never Change, Shiver, Parachutes (something off of their first album, and how cool would another acoustic version of shiver be?)
  7. whoever man, i have to go by myself, so i dont care
  8. louisville i live in louisville as well, if you wanna hook up before the concert or anything, just let me know

  10. Oasis and Coldplay are two different bands... To say that Coldplay is popular now because of Oasis is like saying Rock and Roll would not exist without Elvis and the Beatles. Of course Coldplay is what it is because of Oasis, but keep in mind that its not like Coldplay rode in on the coattails of Oasis either. Oasis has done nothing more than influence Coldplay, and to be honest Oasis is also the reason for music that currently sucks now, because everyone puts a capo on their guitars and plays Em, C, G, D, and A's because of songs like Wonderwall. And don't get me wrong, Oasis didn't just play these chords, in fact, Oasis is very talented, probably the most talented band of the nineties, but current musicians have take this philosophy of simplicity and conformity, the is no original music outside of bands like Coldplay, the White Stripes, possibly Ben Harper, and a couple other bands........Coldplay is totally different than this, they combine different tunings and totally different music ideas as well as broader, larger than life lyrics.....Both Oasis and Coldplay are original though in what they come up with....Who is better? Well, currently Oasis is more proven, especially considering the success of their newer albums and the fact that Liam and Noel are getting along again...But I really think in another 5 years, Coldplay will be more proven, because Coldplay doesn't do drugs, they don't fuss like 2 brothers, and as long as they don't get too cocky, why aren't they better than Oasis? But just to cap it off, Oasis is definately the best band right now in the past 15 years, and the most important (but like I said, I don't know if that is a good thing), but come on, Coldplay will be just as good if not better the way they are headed right now.
  11. Stones are alright The stones are alright, but all they wanted was the popularity like the Beatles, and when are they going to die?
  12. can't stand 80s music Sorry man, I just can't satnd 80s music, to me it's just a sign that music went downhill after the 70s....Maybe I shoudn't really say they suck, because that really isn't true, but definately not my style, I don't know why, I just don't like it...
  13. Jack White Yes it is Jack white, probably the best one stage musician right now, and you know what I mean if you've seen what he can do in concert... Robbie
  14. Why coldplay has potential to be 2nd greatest band ever... First of all, we have to look at what Coldplay is doing for music at a time when music is down...They didn't really have anything to build off of...For example, the Who, Zeppelin, Cream, and all the bands of the 70s built off of the last few albums of the beatles as well as blues...They took what was already began and then added drugs and Satan to it (well, not Cream), as well as 8 minute guitar solos...But what happened during that time is musicians began focusing on how quick someone hands move up and down a guitar or on a piano instead of how the music affects the mood of the song...That is something that the Beatles and Coldplay are perfectionists at...If you've listened to some of coldplays covers, you notice that Johnny is one hell of a guitarist, but does that mean he goes nuts when he gets the chance, absolutely not...And how often do you see Chris Martin write lyrics that don't go with the music at all? I don't recall one song..... On a totally different topic though, Coldplay has already proven to be more consistent in their music that Oasis, and I am sure we haven't forgotten how popular they were....Also, there isn't a very good chance for Coldplay to get caught up in drugs to ruin their career...And while this is a reason for some to call coldplay "gay", it is added stability... But most importantly, it is the way coldplay wants all their music to be original...Early B-Sides and Parachutes was mostly acoustic guitar, a lead electric, and piano for slow ballads....We remember songs like trouble, careful where you stand, only superstition, Don't Panic, Everything's Not Lost, and Yellow during these times.... But then, with the release of A Rush Of Blood to the Head, you see totally original work with a song like Politik to open it up, and GPASUYF, as well as one of the greatest songs ever written in the Scientist, and I don't know where to begin with the musical genius behind clocks....I mean, I know for those of us who play guitar and piano, it is easy to read the sheet music and play what Coldplay plays, but to write the music they write is amazing... And then we see more evolution on X&Y...We hear a lot more electric, dark sounding tracks, with organs, and a lot more effects on guitar, as well as a trial in their music, releasing the hardest part...It is definately not their most popular, but an experiment none the less...Not to mention we have the song Chris wrote for Johnny Cash, Til Kingdom come....Name another member of any band that has been able to write successful material for other bands in rock, music for techno/pop music, and folk country, as well as dominating their own rock/pop culture.... It's because of all this, I can say that Coldplay at the current rate will be the second greatest band ever...I mean, yeah, stuff happens, but probably not to these guys....We still need to remember that they have only realease 3 albums..... And on a final note, guys, I know you all might love other bands, but give the Beatles their due, No one will ever do what they did...I mean, look, even Paul is still one of the best in pop right now....
  15. Hello, I am Robbie, and I stand by a statement that at the current rate, Coldplay will be the second greatest band of all time, right behind the Beatles...Thats right, better than Zeppelin, Cream, the Who, U2 (who really just sucks), and etc.
