  1. haha, well there's always possibility for offtopic conversation!
  2. wow. since i wasn't around all day, i expected this thread to be miles longer! ah well, i guess we're all just sitting and waiting anyway :P. monday is when things will probably pick up again :D
  3. oooh! if you can give me the exact link, i'll post a suggestion that people do that in the thread! (it would also be awesome if you told us how much that costs :D)
  4. YOU ARE TOO AMAZING. what is this "it's not worth posting" stuff?! i LOVE this :nice:
  5. does it?! if it does, i've never noticed
  6. i just spent the last 5 in a car too. wiiiith the world's biggest asshole. so, no, i'm probably crazy for saying there's a start date. i guess we don't really need one  and the board is REALLLLLLY slow right now, at least for me :bigcry: i have to restart my computer too, so be back in a few mins :D
  7. ^yes, that's the plan  i think the question right now is: why wait till nov. 1 if we have the deets all hammered out before then? my response: good question :D. i just think we need to warn people of when we're posting the address, because it's going to be a bit nutso once it's up. whenever the start date is, i think the address should only be posted like, two days before that, even if we have it before.
  8. i'm creating a date-table now on the assumption that the START date is november 1 and the STOP date is november 30, but it can always be changed if we decide differently :D
  9. ok, so if for the sake of argument the DEADLINE is november 30, then the START DATE in my mind should be november 1. if the start date is november 1, i think we should announce the address on october 30.
  10. ok. i think we all need to start talking dates to start sending. debs will probably be the one to set the DEADLINE, because she's the one that's giving the cards to the guys. we assume that this deadline will be sometime in mid december, around christmas. this is what i say: for the sake of argument, let's say debs will deliver the cards on december 13 (right before the O2 gig). that means we should make sure she has all the cards by...december 10 at the latest. meaning the deadline for sending should be...november 30th at the ABSOLUTE LATEST? what do you say? if people think it would be helpful, i plan to put together some sort of crude table with each region in it, and the date that the coldplayers in that region should have their cards in the mail by for best results.
  11. ^i'll find it; i actually know where to look for once. any suggestions about the other thread? what needs to be added/made clearer? i'll write a better (short) intro in a bit. i know there are a lot of words there; i'll try to make it not too many more.
  12. PMing Ian now; CCing you :P and i linked to this thread twice :D
  13. also, question: what is debs's official title? something liason? i'd like to write an intro to the thread and put her actual title in for the people that don't know.
  14. hmm. i still think a thread for JUST the rules etc is necessary, since this thread is SOOO messy now. i just wish it was lockable AND editable  i guess i'll make it clear that the thread is ONLY for questions and not for suggestions?
  15. nope, can't still edit it :bigcry: i guess it'll just have to be unlocked :uhoh: can you unlock, pretty please?
  16. posted lore, can you lock it ASAP? can i still edit it frequently once its locked?
  17. http://www.coldplay.com/newsdetail.php?id=322 THANK YOU, DEBS WILD :bigcry: If you can't watch the video, download it here Video Screencaps: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/gallery/showgallery.php/cat/1730 (Thanks Ian!) Here are Debs's most important and currently relevant posts (newest to oldest): FEBRUARY 16, 2009 FEBRUARY 11, 2009 January 29, 2009 THIS THREAD IS NOW STRICTLY FOR PROJECT-TALK ONLY. That means no Jaffa Cake or Doritos talk, people. I know I did it and encouraged it, perhaps more than anyone else, but apparently people were upset by it, and everything came to a head. Now, this thread has been heavily edited, and all posts that were not related to the project have been moved. If you're looking for old posts, please search for them HERE. To avoid further tensions, please keep the talk on the Project only. It's all for clarity's sake. SCREENCAPS: (thanks, Zemy101 :D) OLDER TOPICS (for nostalgia and reference's sake :D): These are the rules and guidelines for participating in the Postcards from Far Away Project. THIS THREAD IS ONLY FOR QUESTIONS REGARDING THE PROJECT. Please post all your suggestions and comments HERE.
  18. i'm going to need to go back and edit it several times, so once it's posted, bear with me. it's something i need to look at and go back to several times for clarity. parts of it may be entirely rewritten.
  19. OK, starting it :D  once it's created, can you lock it?
  20. personally, i think it's about time for the RULES thread, as long as i make it very clear that we don't have an address or dates in there yet. anyone else agree? lore? should it be a locked thread?
  21. HIII i'm BACK!! and i heart debs!!! (and lore and coldplaying :nice:) i'll PM you the rules as they stand now if you'd like. i feel like we're VERY close with that...pretty much all that has been *generally* agreed upon is in there, but it can be edited. really, we're just waiting for the address i can make a thread if you'd like, but if we're just updating this one than that's fine too. maybe it can be a locked thread with JUST info in it? if that would make people less confused, i'd love to do it :D
  22. i thought i lost this thread. then i saw it was sticky! i have to head out soon, to eat and then to drive home for like 5 hours, but i'll be back tonight, probably  :D
  23. i just found a really helpful PDF document for US postcard senders: http://www.pb.com/bv70/en_us/extranet/contentfiles/editorials/downloads/ed_ECEd_Shape_Based_Price_2008_Postcards.pdf (the table on postage is helpful, anyway, as is the picture about size) i'll look for an international one now :D
  24. i put the thing about airmail in the rules document, under the part about bringing the cards to the post office. thanks for that! :D i feel like it might be MORE expensive to put two cards in an envelope, but that's just me and might only apply in the US. to mail an envelope within the US, it's like around 45 cents, but to mail one postcard, it's around 15 cents, so two postcards are cheaper than one envelope. might not hold true everywhere, though, so it's a thought!
  25. i actually bet some will be like this, or at least one of the two people send  don't they do this for you at the postoffice when you ask them to put on the correct postage? if not, then i'll add it to the list :D (do you mean airmail sticker rather than email sticker? just checking )
