  1. :stunned: EXACTLY. add in the beatles (why i became an anglophile in the first place) and hugh laurie, as well as various other bands, books, and authors, and that's the BEGINNING of why i love england. i was seriously considering applying directly to british uni's, but you have to know EXACTLY what you want to do with your life, and i don't. also, the expense, especially now with the american economy in the toilet. and lore: liverpool is AWESOME!
  2. i'll live in london for a month next september, yes, then on to norwich england for a full year! i really have a hard time thinking about anything else besides living in england and coldplay :P
  3. when i'm in london next year, semy and i were talking (jokingly, of course) of pitching a tent and waiting out there for them on my 20th birthday, however long it took :laugh4: now THAT'S disturbing them. but making a little pilgramage, taking a photo...how can they expect us to resist?! (however, wouldn't it be amazing if they happened to be going in/coming out when we were there?!)
  4. well i WANT to enter, but i never would. i don't really see a problem with taking pictures from the outside and at most, putting something through the mailslot. if they were really that adamant about not recieving mail there, they wouldn't have a mailslot and would only have a PO box. and they wouldn't have let "the hour" put that image of the host walking into it, either :P semy and i were getting some baaaad ideas that day, though. i was like "HOW CAN I GET TO SEE IN THAT WINDOW?" i wanted to climb the tree on agincourt to look in :P
  5. i hope she isn't one of those that thinks us dropping off some cards and doing nothing more is violating the sanctity or whatever it is of the bakery :uhoh:
  6. :bomb:  :worried: weeoo, we're one step closer!
  7. brillo lore :nice: SEND SEND SEND. and be sure to let us know the second you get a response! :P
  8. OOH SHIT. thanks for that, zoe! i typed out that sentence while watching TV :uhoh: @lore: i just added it to the MSword document i already had with that line in there :bomb:. lo siento :D
  9. heyyy, you took out the word "WONDERFUL" in "wonderful member and moderator" :dozey: :P
  10. *continues offtopicness* OMG me too! (well besides the internship at applecorps! that's AWESOME :stunned:). i know i would have been one of those screaming girls tearing their hair out because it was acceptable at the time.
  11. seeeeeend it lore!! :D (as long as you think that it says everything we need to say...i feel weird about people saying everything i've written is great with not many other things to add--i want this to be as collaborative as possible!)
  12. hmmmms. that's kind of ironically coincidental, the last part in pink, anyway. i don't know, i don't really feel that the band would mind us putting some letters in the slot and walking away...i don't count that as "disturbing," really. knocking on the door or doing anything more than taking a photo of the outside or putting something in the mailslot, yes, that's disturbing. i just think that letters are harmless, as long as that's the extent of it. i'll definitely add in the letter that we hope they don't mind that we dropped them off at the bakery if that's what we vote to do. i just think they'll be more touched by our notes and our unified effort than anything. i guess this is sort of why i had the EMI address in mind from the beginning, since we know it both works and is acceptable, but i've so been swayed by everyone else into thinking that the bakery-route is just too potentially perfect to ignore :D.
  13. haha, you're definitely right, pete :laugh4:. but in our (basically my own :P) defense, i think it's better to think of everything that could go wrong beforehand rather than being sad later that we made a mistake. i still stand by my worries, even though they are excessive . thank you for your offer, though! i definitely like that plan if alison can't do it for any reason.
  14. i think it should be the other way around, personally. actually, i don't think gig-drop-offs should even be on the table, but if that's what people vote for then that's what people vote for.
  15. in my mind, the optimal weekends are the second and third weekends in december (the 13th and 14th and the 20th and the 21st). we know the band is in london for the london concerts the first weekend, and though they are away for the second weekend (in ireland), they finish up the tour as we know it now on 12/23 and will pretty much definitely be going home after that, so at worst the cards sit there in the bakery for a couple days. i'm of the mind that we deliver them directly on time, and whenever the band sees them is when the band sees them. as long as they see them directly, i don't really care if it takes weeks. all the other alternatives in my mind scare me into thinking that the band won't see the vast majority of them, which really defeats the purpose
  16. i've also finally figured out how to express why the "drop them off with a crewmember somewhere in london" plan bothers me: a common practice with fanmail for very popular bands and people like coldplay is that there are hired people to open and sort through it all who set aside only the most interesting letters or whatever for the band to read. i feel like if alison arranged a meeting with someone to pick up the cards for the band in london, that person would then give them to someone in management (because i can't really imagine the management sending anyone more than a gopher with no direct band contact to pick up some letters from a fan), and then management would sort through them and only pick out the coolest/most interesting cards, and the vast majority of our work would go to waste. i don't know if this is how EMI and/or coldplay handle their fanmail, but its a very real possibility. i feel like if we threw the letters in the mailslot of the bakery, the band would DEFINITELY see them since the bakery is their place, not official management HQ. in all honesty, i would feel better about the cards sitting on the other side of the door for months with a guarantee that the boys would see them eventually the next time they popped by rather than only having the ten coolest cards ever get seen by the band.
  17. keep in mind that they all live within minutes of the bakery, and i bet they pop in from time to time when they're not officially recording, whether to get away from the house or record an idea or because they've forgotten something there. as long as we keep our drop-off date sometime around the O2 concert dates or close to christmas, which i'm under the impression the plan is, they're probably going to be at home, meaning near the bakery. as long as you're willing to do it and there is a mailslot so we don't have to leave them out anywhere, i think this is still the best way of going about doing it. every method has its risks, this one being that the mailslot will be blocked, but i think the risks are even greater in the other methods. also, in the email, i asked debs (i think) if she had any other suggestions for how we could get our cards directly to the band, so we'll see if she says anything :D
  18. next week, if it's ok with everyone, i was thinking of gathering all the logos we have by then and then making a poll for voting on the one to use. but we need more of them!! :D i think things will be a lot more organized next week, when we hope to have more information and more time to keep things tidy. according to the poll, right now we have 110 postcards to coldplay, assuming everyone mails two! that's awesome :nice: i hope there's more as well!
  19. i wonder if she'll ever do a dress for less thing. then again, she might not know a lot about it. but yes, i want those boots and that jacket like no other. those are exactly the sorts of things i'm looking for right now.
  20. side of the bakery on agincourt: that square building on the left with the green door is the adjacent side of the alleyway glass door entrance. i think it probably is part of the bakery and is internally connected, but you never know. just a thought, though one i'm not really worried about.
  21. ladder to the sun, moses, the scientist, shiver (though all of those have been mentioned). careful where you stand is a killer to me. i'll try to think of more.
  22. good question. i didn't notice the numbers at the time, and i had to zoom in a bit on the pictures to make them out, but yes, i should have noticed before  hey now. i prefer to think of it as "being a big fan" :P (nahh, sometimes i worry myself :P) hmm. interesting. i would get worried if the number 4a wasn't directly on the building, but it is. then again, there is this building that you can see from the side, which may or may not be connected to the building that we know as the bakery, and that number could refer to whatever that is. imagshack isn't working properly for me right now, but i'll add the picture when it works. however, if the bakery's entrance isn't the glass door in the alleyway, then its address is probably not even on feet road, but agincourt.
  23. i think the garage door thing is open when someone's INSIDE, but that's just me guessing. i really have to go, but with some google and map searching, i've basically almost definitely confirmed an exact bakery address!
