CoL Lyrics
imo at night they would go walking till the breaking of the day the morning is for sleeping through the dark streets they'd go searching to see god in their own way save the night time for your weepin' your weeping singing la la la la la la la la lay and the night over london lay so we rode down to the river where victorian ghosts pray (rofl at suggestions) for their curses to be broken we'd go underneath the arches (under/wander?) where the witches are and they say there are ghosts towns in the ocean the ocean singing... (Gtr solo - which is fn awesome) God is in the houses And God is in my head And all the cemeteries of london I see God come in my garden but I don't know what he said for my heart it wasn't open not open singing... singing... there's no light over london today

Kooks: 'Coldplay are best in the world'
The coldplay bad press thing winds me up, take this weeks NME, I skip to page 47 for the coldplay feature and see a negative review. First things first, until you sell 10 million albums and play sellout world tours, keep your mouth shut. If you're so wise as to know exactly what popular music sounds like, why aren't you making it. And really, what is the point of posting overtly critical reviews in the media of anything, do we really need to cater for people who don't like something? Chris and the guys just try and entertain, which in my opinion is a positive thing for this world.

changing guitar strings? help please?
Well, if you have 3 pegs on the upper and underside of the head then you will twist the pegs two different ways. I tend to turn E A and D anti clockwise (to the left) and G B E the opposite. For a visual, feed the string through, look at the other strings, then twist both ways to see which is better for you. At this stage it gets personal to each player as to what to do. I normally feed E and A through once then tighten until about 2/3 frets below standard tuning. And The rest I feed through twice with the same tightening process. If I break one string I will slacken the rest before attaching the new string then tighten all at the same time. When putting a new set on, (1-2 months, less depending on player/usage/brand - I use elixir anti rust) stick the thickest/thinnest string on first then work inwards, so thickest, thinnest, second thickest, second thinnest etc. If you use a guitar with an all in a row set of pegs, like a fender then don't worry about the last order. This is a slightly superstitious procedure but meh. Ok and lastly when tightening, I leave the strings 2/3 frets below standard tuning for 12 hours then at standard for a further 12 hours. This is so that the tuning settles. You will notice with brand new strings that they will nearly always go out of tune quickly if played instantly. This procedure could probably and wisely be cancelled out by what I have seen in guitar magazines as stretching the strings. When changing, tighten all to standard, then grab each string individually just above the pickups/soundhole and pull 5 times upwards about an inch or whatever feels ok but moderate. I have never tried this because I like to treat my strings/guitar like a sissy to a kitten, and besides I don't have to get my strings ready to quick gigs or anything that requires perfect pitch. And lastly, lastly, when winding the strings check to see that it is coiling around the empty part of the peg and that it isn't overlapping.

Need some help with 'Talk'
I was asked in a job interview yesterday, why is communication relevant in the workplace, and I said, it's maybe the most important thing to being human. Chris is a smart cookie, why not write a song about talking. The lyric, 'Tell me how do you feel?' gives the song an emotional depth and therefore an insight into the maturity of the writer. Emotional connection is of course the most valued of all inter-animal traits. Also, the lyric in square one, 'you just want somebody listening to what you say it doesn't matter who you are ' is perfectly linked. It has a few meanings. One is the illustration of the human ego, the desire for attention, friendship and love. Another, perhaps to teach and lead. Again take into account the originality of the lyric. Its not often in pop/rock that such a philosophical and poetic intellectualistic stance is taken. I remember reading reviews critical of the album's lyrics, and completely disagreeing. As if the reviewer was listening to a *cough* U2 album or something. Nah U2 are ok really :p

Good Music For Beginning Guitarists...
There is a world of music out there, lots with simple melodies, sit in front of the tv for a couple of hours and start riffing, I did this solidly for a year when starting out. It will also help build your soloing improvisation.
