My dad is a great bass player (a lot of people say he is) and he said that the bass player actually follows the drummer a lot, by playing a note everytime the drummer hits the bass drum. Is this true? He's the only one who's ever told me that, but I can actually kind of notice it. Especially DMB's "Crush."

He played piano pretty good too as I recall.
