Yeah at the weekend i may be able to do summin, but we'll see im quite busy. Oh and deadlines are like my worst enemy, but ill give it my best shot. I think i'll do a guitar solo for 15 seconds, it'll be a challenge. And i thought Parachutes was short! Hey everyone, its been such a long time since i visited! Hope you're all well and had a great christmas and new year! It might be just me but im getting the feeling that you're not one of their biggest fans... Piltoff, this thread is just about someone airing an idea, a suspicion, and there's nothing wrong with that. Anyway isnt it good to get excited about things like this once in a while? Its not doing anyone any harm, infact i think this is what makes this site so great, is that it has a great atmosphere and buzz. If you want to be grouchy about this whole thing thats fine, but why try to ruin a thread by calling it stupid, and indirectly calling everyone who has posted a commenton this thread stupid? Hi everyone... I'm currently in my last year at secondary school and im planning to do Animation (mainly computer animation) at uni or college. I need a bit of help choosing wat kind of laptop will be suited for this sort of work. I will be running programs such as 3DS Max / Maya / Lightwave and similar programs that require 3D. (If you don't know what these programs are, it doesn't matter, I will need something that can run 3D games in that case.) The maximum price im lookin at is £799. Ive narrowed it down to the AcerAS5672WLMI-166 as mentioned above, and the Philips X54, but if anyone has any other suggestions can you please tell me? I'll list the specs: AcerAS5672WLMI-166 Processor speed: 1.67 GHz Processor: Intel Centrino Duo Screen size: 15.4 inches Widescreen Display Storage (hard drive): 120 GB Memory (RAM): 2048 MB Graphics: 512MB ATI1400 Mobile Windows XP Home Philips X54 Intel Core Duo T2300 Processor 1.66GHz 667 MHz FSB Screen size: 15.4 inches Widescreen Display Memory (RAM): 2048 MB Storage (hard drive): 100 GB Graphics:256MB Nvidia- G72M Dedicated Microsoft Windows Media Centre 2005 - Both cost £799. Its a hard decision! I would have to say that i am probably leaning towards the Philips X52, because of Media Center edition. On the other hand, i'm probably gonna get Vista so its not reli important. Also the Philips has graphics of 256MB dedicated, while the Acer has 128MB dedicated and up to 512MB shared. Which one would be better? I went into PCWorld yesterday and i tried the Philips X52. I was impressed by the price, but i just couldn't use the touchpad properly! While the touchpads on other laptos in store were smooth to the touch and easy to use, my fingers kept sticking to the touchpad, and even when it glided, the pointer wasnt moving very well! Now i was hoping it was because my hands were sweaty , but even tho this is a great deal for me, I wouldn't be happy with a product which i would find difficult to use. Having said that, I have not yet tried the Acer touchpads, so i would not know the quality of them. Perhaps there is a way to solve this problem? I know u might think i'm nit picking, but im gonna be stuck with this machine for several years to come. I don't reli mind a 20 GB difference between the hard drives of each of the machines, they both have plenty of space. The Acer has a built in 1.3 mega pixel camera which is something that the philips does not have. Again i don't reli mind, but its a nice addition. Can anyone please help me if u know any of the questions above, or if u can recommend anything? This is a reli important buy and i want to make the right decision. Please help! Thanks in advance! Hey i havent bin here for a while now. I was just wonderin whether a 128MB dedicated memory with up to 512MB of graphics memory would run some of the higher end games (e.g Halo) cos im gettin a laptop soon so i can use it 4 my 3D animation course next year. So reli its nt just 4 games but for using 3D programs in general. If anyone knows wot im on about cud they please reply it would be a great help. Thanks guys ;)
