  1. Logging in after many years. The uploaded tracks on Coldplay's youtube page have horrible distortion. I noticed it when listening to track six, Alien Hits (called Neon Forest ANGEL SONG on Youtube, https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=Yg2S5iP3pYU&si=Y1uQeP2VTN7J2TyW). The entire album uploaded to regular youtube has crappy quality compared to other sources. How did this happen? Whoever is running their youtube channel is cutting corners in a big way.
  2. I created an alternative version of Ghost Stories using the bonus tracks for personal listening, check out the thread in Multimedia for tracklisting and link if you're interested! I accounted for transitions between tracks so that it maintains a natural flow: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/threads/52329-Zemy101-s-Modified-Coldplay-Songs-Thread/page13 Managed to keep it at 42 minutes in length too, so it's still concise but IMO sounds a little more complete as an album.
  3. Wow, I really think these two tracks should have been included by default... just need to figure out where to place them on the tracklisting. I also really like the reprise of "O". I do think Chris has an irrational phobia of including too many songs on an album, because it would have worked great here... it's only 9 minutes and 25 seconds of extra music so the runtime would still be sensible at around 50 minutes. Here's my take, ended up being just over 42 minutes: 1. Always In My Head 2. Ink 3. True Love 4. Midnight 5. All Your Friends 6. Another's Arms 7. Ghost Story 8. A Sky Full Of Stars 9. Oceans 10. Fly On 11. O I think 'Midnight' into 'All Your Friends' works really well, then 'Another's Arms' into 'Ghost Story' instead of 'Oceans'. To me, 'Ghost Story' is like a continuation of the narrative from 'Another's Arms', listen to them back to back! 'Ghost Story' flows well into 'ASFOS' if you blend the end of the former into the latter, and 'Oceans' works better in between 'ASFOS' and 'Fly On' to ease into a low key ending to the album. I also removed 'Magic' because personally I find the transition from 'AIMH' to 'Ink' works better, and I'm not a huge fan of it myself. I think the album is has a better flow without it. I decided to leave off the reprise of 'O' because I couldn't really fit it anywhere without interrupting the flow, but I might give it another go! I might upload this as one piece and post it in my Custom Albums thread in the multimedia section with all the necessary transitions to make it sound natural (to blend 'Ghost Story' into 'ASFOS', and 'Oceans' into 'Fly On'. EDIT: You can listen to this version of the album HERE as one piece (with all the proper transitions to make it flow) to see if you like it! http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/threads/52329-Zemy101-s-Modified-Coldplay-Songs-Thread/page13
  4. This and True Love are probably my favourites, I think they compliment each other very well! Pure cheese in the first verse but easily forgiven in this case :P. Great sound and the chorus is Coldplay at their best imo. Another's Arms, Midnight and Fly On all tie for 2nd place for me.
  5. I think the album easily has more soul than MX did, It's also much more sonically cohesive which I like. And unlike MX, the more "poppy" songs like Ink and True Love have a unique flair to them that gives them some depth and intrigue. I also like ASFOS more than ETIAW even though it's not really my fourite of the bunch. The cheesy lyrics are something I've just learned to expect as part of the package, but on every album so far there has always been exceptions and Chris can be quite the poet with the right inspiration. Midnight is a great example of this IMO. And even with the more straightforward lyrics in True Love, I actually think it works very well. It's got a charming and whimsical 80s synthpop thing going on, which I liked on first listen. And excluding the lyirics in the opening verse, I love Ink too. In a sense I think these are the two songs that give life to this album. My main gripe is that it's too short. To me it feels like there should be a song in between ASFOS and Fly On, maybe it's because they're so different in character? I do feel it draws to a close a bit too soon. I'm also not blown away by Always In My Head but it does set the tone and I do like the intro and the production. I also like Oceans, reminds me of the Parachutes era and the Blue Room EP in a way, but again I think that the album could have had one more mid - up tempo track to balance out the lower key moments. Something like Atlas to round things out maybe (which I prefer to Magic personally, can't really get into that song - the cheesiness is a bit too much on this one but it does work it's way into your head :P). Overall I really like it, it's an interesting album. Actually quite difficult to compare to the others and I'm not sure why, in a way its very classical Coldplay but also very different. I think with Viva they managed to make use of the short runtime in a slighty more engaging way overall, and it didn't really end up sounding too short... but my opinion on that could change. For what it's worth, the string of tracks from Ink to Oceans is probably one of my farourite sequences on a Coldplay album since AROBTTH. If they released just those tracks as an EP, and then closed it with Fly On, that would be a hell of a piece!
  6. "Whatever the opposite of Viagra is, Martin seems to have swallowed it before his creative process began." This is everything that's wrong with journalism today in one sentence. Bottom of the barrel... reminds me of the Sun, actively attempting to whip up controvosy where none exists to increase web traffic. You can be a critic without being overtly mocking, especially when it comes to music... just seems like a cheap tactic and wholly unnecessary in this case.
  7. Very impressed that they took the time to do it this way! Great visuals!
  8. I've heard it a few times now, I really liked the live version and especially Jonny's guitar parts. One of my favourites from the new songs. The studio version for me is a little uneven; the last chorus onwards until the end is just perfect, everything is mixed so well and it has real impact. But (personally) I think the piano and especially the guitar is drenched in a little too much reverb before that point, and particularly during the bridge before that last chorus. That guitar solo during the live performance is emphasized and manages to be atmospheric while still being clear and crisp... but I feel on the studio version it lost a lot of it's impact because it's pushed way too far back in the mix, and ends up sounding too distant. Almost sounds like they removed the original guitar track and left only the reverb behind (100% wet, 0% dry for the music producers out there!). That's really my main gripe with it. Other than that I really like how dark and electronic it sounds, and I like some of the effects on Chris' voice. Especially liked how he sung the "is there someone there to find me" line, much more moody than the live versions. Actually this reminds me a lot of when Radiohead were debuting songs from 'In Rainbows' live - everything sounded lively and well mixed, with plenty of emotional impact. And then when they dropped the album itself, a lot of the songs ended up sounding much more conservative, almost muted compared to the live versions. That's basically what I feel has happened here, but to a lesser extent. Overall it's a very good track, but I do prefer the emphasis of the guitar and the piano in the live versions, does it more justice I feel!

If it's not too much trouble, I would appreciate a link as well! (I know I'm like the 50th person asking :P )
  10. Pretty much my feeling about it too... I gave it a 6 personally, there are plenty of things I do like about it like you mentioned, and it actually has a few great vocal and sonic flourishes. But the lyrics are just lazy and lackluster (in my opinion). Midnight on the other hand really impressed me so I'm still interested to see how the rest of the album pans out. I'm glad it's coming out a lot sooner than everyone was expecting!
  11. Absolutely Chuck, diet plays a major role in prevention from what I've read also, and all of what you listed aligns with my own observations so far... I have thought about expanding the information in the first post, but it could grow to such a size that anyone passing by would probably be overwhelmed by the amount of youtube clips and reading material that they'll get put off and avoid it all together. I think it's best for it to remain as a non cluttered starting point for people to then continue to research this subject themselves, and as anyone who uses youtube on a fairly regular basis already knows, merely following some of the related videos will quickly present an opportunity to discover more information from different perspectives. As long as you exercise discernment while delving into 'uncommon knowledge' and are willing to search other venues to verify the information to your satisfaction, you might be surprised at how much of a treasure trove youtube really is! But I'd say that for every nugget of truth there is a good amount of BS to wade through and to identify as such, if you wish to come to any useful & practical conclusions that you can then apply to your own life an others around you. How much you learn will be determined by the degree of importance that this area of study has for you. Of course all of what I just said wasn't really directed at you, but everybody who happens to read this. Thanks for your comment!
  12. Thank you howyousawtheworld, so many people could benefit from this information if only they knew about it! The more this is shared around the better.
  13. Bump, for those who may not have seen this the first time around. Please give it a read and explore the links, especially if you know someone who has been diagnosed with cancer.
  14. Not supporting either candidate (or rather, I wouldn't vote for either of them if I were a US citizen - used to like Obama, not so much anymore). Having said that, here's a video you should watch if you're thinking of voting for Obama in the coming weeks. 16. Hint:  I've been doing quite a bit of research over the past year or so, some of which I'd like to share. This may not be breaking news in the usual sense, but to some people out there, it will be. The vast majority of people are still waiting around for the big pharmaceutical companies to come up with that long awaited cancer-killing drug (and turning to risky chemotherapy 'treatments' in the mean time), when there is a vast amount of research showing that most cancers can be effectively eradicated through safe and natural means. In this thread I'm going to write up a list of a number of cancer-fighting substances that I am aware of, all supported by scientific studies, both human and animal. I'll also put up some links so you can pour through all the evidence associated with anything anti-cancer related yourself. If you're interested in why the general perception is still that cancer can only be 'treated' with dangerous methods such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy, this documentary below is one of the most important you can watch on this subject. It also lays out the evidence that 'Amygdalin' (Vitamin B17), found in bitter almonds and apricot kernels, is an effective (and suppressed) preventative & cure for cancer at all stages of formation: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qHNDYeF0MU]A World Without Cancer (HQ) - The Story of Vitamin B17 - G. Edward Griffin - YouTube[/ame] ^ I urge ALL who are reading this thread to watch this documentary in it's entirety before asking why this isn't common knowledge. Even more important is to get into the habit of doing your own research, be skeptical but not immediately dismissive, and gather all the information you can find before weighing the evidence and coming to a conclusion. ---------- First things first: http://www.greenmedinfo.com/ - an absolutely wonderful resource, circumvents all the spin and rhetoric and cuts directly to the evidence, so that you can DECIDE FOR YOURSELF. 21. Was just about to post about this, part of me can't believe it. I'm in the UK but this is still a highly significant event on the world stage, one that could unfortunately mark the beginnings of a tyrannical global order. If people don't hit the streets by the millions over this, frankly the ruling classes have gotten away with something very disturbing indeed. 22. It's now illegal to grow your own food in New Zealand. I shit you not. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhKEZauNENs&feature=feedu]# 766 Illegal to Grow Food - YouTube[/ame] Last week I actually made the decision to start growing an indoor garden, and this news only goes to confirm that people's main priority needs to be SELF SUFFICIENCY. Invest in a variety organic seeds from an honest source, and make sure they will produce seed that won't be sterile. If not for immediate use, they can still be stored for the future. But having the know-how as soon as you can about this stuff is becoming more and more essential. There are some great videos on Youtube that can teach you all the required steps you need to take to successfully grow your own food without much hassle. It's actually a lot less daunting than it sounds, and far cheaper than you might think. Hydroponics and solar panels would be the next steps to ensure that you can still grow food independent of electricity if need be. Food is the currency of the future guys. I'm not quite sure most people are quite aware of the gravity of the situation, but investing time in teaching yourself how to do this sort of thing will be absolutely priceless down the road.
  23. Really like the new album! Equal to, if not better than AHMS for me - plenty of fresh and upbeat sounds and melodies throughout for the most part. If only Coldplay were this consistent in terms of quality... :P The Garden Rules, New York, In The End and The Symphony are my favourites. And Berlin makes me smile :wacky:
