Random Eddie Vedder moment: When I was lining up for the U2 concert, some kind person lent me their newspaper to read, as it was very boring lol...anyway on front of the newspaper was a massive picture of Eddie and Bono (due to them performing together at the Make Poverty History concert in Melbourne, Nov 17). Granted he was with Bono in the photo, but I never thought I would see the day when Eddie Vedder would grace the front page of the newspaper I read every week...anyway just thought I'd share that, get Pearl Jam back on page 1..where they deserve to be

Chris Cornell
CORNELL, CHRIS CORNELL FORMER GRUNGE GOD GOES SECRET AGENT WITH 007 THEME SONG By DANICA LO November 19, 2006 -- 'I was lucky," says Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell of his recent motorcycle accident in which he was hit by a truck and flung 20 feet in the air. Before his body met the pavement - which it did, and hard - Cornell says, "I was sort of thinking, 'This is an actual accident. I hope it's not as bad as it feels like it's going to be.'" It could have all been over for Cornell, one of the most iconic rock voices of our time, but he emerged almost unharmed. Fortuitous timing for a close call. This month, Cornell, a founding father of grunge, lead singer of the now-defunct Seattle band Soundgarden, and initiator of the legendary early '90s collaboration Temple of the Dog, makes his big-screen debut of sorts as the first man since Paul McCartney to sing a James Bond theme song. His throaty, epic ode to 007, "You Know My Name," plays musical foil to Daniel Craig's Bond in "Casino Royale." Featuring soaring orchestrations and near-crooning vocals, the song is a departure from Cornell's signature sound. "They wanted a voice that fit well with his persona," Cornell says. "They were looking for a singer who was unapologetically male, someone with introspection in his voice but not afraid to be masculine." Cornell cites two of his predecessors as inspirations: McCartney, who wrote and performed the theme to "Live and Let Die" (1973), and Tom Jones, who sang the theme to "Thunderball" (1965). "I decided that I was going to sing it like Tom Jones, in that crooning style. I wanted people to hear my voice," Cornell says. "And 'Live and Let Die' is a fantastic song. Paul McCartney wouldn't have written it if not for that movie. I [also] wanted to write a song in its own universe. I knew I'd never have it again - a big orchestra - so I wanted to have fun with it." The song represents a move that will surely propel him into the mainstream - in fact, lob him so far into the depths of international collective consciousness that his grinding, guitar-angst grunge days will seem like ancient history. Much to the chagrin of his Soundgarden fans, however. "Chris Cornell is not the man or the singer he used to be," complains one on the Audioslave fan forum. He's even been called a sellout for departing from his Seattle-sound roots - for seeking out emotions besides depressive angst. But while it's blatantly obvious Cornell's work has significantly evolved in the last 15 years, so what? "I was referred to as the quintessential angry young man," Cornell says. "But some of it is being 22. It's healthy to get it out on stage. Emotion is emotion and it comes out in different ways. That changes with age. You figure out better ways to deal with it. "To me, there were always infinite possibilities," he adds, "and now I'm singing a song in a James Bond film. As far as I'm concerned, I can do anything musically - the perception outside of that is none of my business."

hahaha dont worry everyone I survived!!!! LOL I had the best time!!!! I've been to a few concerts in my short life time, and that was the best by far. Sadly didnt get to go to Sundays show, so missed BAD!!!! Damn why do I have to be a poor student, but that aside I definitely made the most of the one concert I went to. Lining up was the worst ever!!!! Sun was out all day, no clouds...it was horrible. But the long day of lining up was all worth it when they let us in. I ran the whole length of telstra dome lol, which is funny to me now, and ended up 5 rows from the barrier right in front of Bono's microphone stand!!!!!!:D Its so bizarre, i, ME, was in the ellipse, I've been dreaming of that moment for so long. I cant believe I could see their faces so clearly, is still so bizarre to me, it was like I was in a dream like state. Does that ever wear off?? I'll never forget that, absolutely amazing!!!! There were so many highlights for me, I'll be sure to tell you more of them later lol Dont know what time you were there Andrew, but during soundcheck, they were rehearsing In Gods Country, I knew they werent gonna play that in Australia, but its looking good for a NZ appearance;) . I also read later on they were filming the Melbourne concerts, still not sure what for, but good to know lol.- U2
Thankyou Denise!!!! I'm gonna get someone to tape it for me tomorrow...coz you'll know where I'll be...at the U2 concert!!!!! Ok i should really go now coz I wanna catch a few good hours sleep.... But before I go...Bono and Eddie are looking so HOT! :wink3:- U2
Bono, Pearl Jam rock to fight poverty Friday Nov 17 19:46 AEDT U2 frontman Bono, guitarist The Edge and Pearl Jam have made a surprise appearance at Friday's Make Poverty History concert in Melbourne. They joined forces to open the concert with a rendition of Neil Young's classic, Rockin' In The Free World. It had been rumoured that Bono would make a guest appearance at the concert but organisers provided an even greater shock with the inclusion of Pearl Jam. During the concert, Bono, an anti-poverty campaigner, pleaded with the audience to help make a difference. "Politicians all have to do what you tell them to do," he told the 14,000-strong crowd at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. "Scream it from the mountains." Organisers say the concert, on the eve of the G20 summit in Melbourne, is Australia's biggest youth-run music event and is being broadcast live on giant screens throughout Melbourne, in regional cities Geelong and Bendigo, and Brisbane. Jet, Eskimo Joe, Evermore and the John Butler Trio are among the Australian artists who will perform. Several prominent Australian activists will also speak, including Reverend Tim Costello and 2006 Young Australian of the Year Tricia Broadbridge. The world's leaders will come together this weekend for the G20 finance summit in Melbourne, addressing a range of global and domestic issues. Damn I wish I could have gone, I never get tired of seeing my 2 favourite bands join forces. Josh did you end up going?- U2
haha Andrew, it has been crazy in Melbourne...we actually had snow and hail around parts of the state yesterday...more like Winter at the moment. Today wasnt as cold as yesterday, but had a look at the forecast for the weekend and looks like we're in for a good weather on the weekend, 23 degrees fine on Saturday. Fingers crossed we get it, but Melbourne weather is always unpredicatable.- Pearl Jam
Yep everyone has got to see Mike do a guitar solo over his head at least once haha- U2
haha yes Andrew I had a VERY good time!! Pearl Jam were AMAZING!!! Eddie Vedder was on fire last night, jumping of amps, showing us some of the Eddie moves we all know and love. Last time I saw PJ was back in 2003, was a good concert but I was disappointed with the crowd, too many people actually using their seats. This time was way better, the crowd was fantastic and the band seemed to feed off of it. Eddie said we were the best crowd so far, I choose to belive that lol. The thing that I love about Pearl Jam is that you NEVER know what to expect from the setlist and if you do go, dont expect to hear all their radio hits. I wont go into too much detail about show highlights, cos I'm not actually sure how many people here like Pearl Jam, I'm just going by the lack of love shown to the PJ thread lol...but sorry to say I did not have a camera....so no photos sorry!!! A real shame cos I reckon great photos would have been taken when the house lights came up for the last 2 songs. But for the girls, Eddie looked hot as always, but then again going by the official sexy fit men thread not many here like Eddie haha So this really is starting off to be the best week for me ever. Going to my 2 fav bands concerts in the same week is a fantastic experience. So now I'm currently at home, resting up for Saturday. I got cold yesterday before the concert (dont worry it didnt affect my screaming and yelling abilites;) ) and now I have lost my voice, now trying to get it back for the U2 boys lol- Rate the signature above you
8- Pearl Jam
Well I didnt start out with just one album, cos my older sister had all the albums Pearl Jam had released at that point, I think the latest one at that time was Yield and I began borrowng them off her until I could afford to buy my own. But for new fans to start off with, Ten is probably the best one to get 1st and work your way forward like Jacob said, I've seen many non-pearl jam fans have this cd in their collection as its their most well known. And if you ever get the chance to see them live, take the oppurtunity, coz Pearl Jam live is out of this planet- Pearl Jam
just got back from the concert and it was f***ing BRILLIANT!!! the crowd were fantastic this time round (back in 2003 i was disppointed with crowd participation) and Eddie was on fire!!!! LOVED the setlist, here's what they played: Go, Last Exit, Brain Of J., World Wide Suicide, Given To Fly, Severed Hand, Low Light, Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town, Gone, Do The Evolution, Even Flow, Lukin, Not For You/(Modern Girl), Life Wasted, Better Man, Glorified G, Porch Encore 1 - Thumbing My Way, Last Kiss, Crazy Mary, Alive Encore 2 - Big Wave, Blood, Leash, Baba O'Riley, Indifference- ~the 'official' sexy fit men thread~
Umm Kanye West is opening for U2 :dozey: ...but Kings of Leon are opening for Pearl Jam- ~the 'official' sexy fit men thread~
I know!!!!!! I'm a VERY lucky girl this week!!!!.....its funny coz these are the 2 bands I've liked for the longest time, and to see them in the same week is surreal- ~the 'official' sexy fit men thread~

Bono joins Kylie on stage for duet Monday November 13, 2006 U2 frontman Bono showed his support for Kylie Minogue by singing a duet with the Australian pop singer in Sydney. The duo sang Minogue's hit, Kids, which the singer originally recorded with Brit Robbie Williams, before 10,000 people at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. "Ladies and gentlemen, we are in the company of greatness tonight," Minogue said. "Let me hear it for Bono." Minogue was wearing a leopard-print cat suit while Bono rocked it up in a black suit and sunglasses. "It's such an honour for you to sing with me," Minogue said. Bono then jumped in and said, "You're perfect". The pair danced around the stage and Bono got down on his knees, kissed Minogue's hand and thanked her at the end of the duet. Minogue kicked off her Showgirl Homecoming Tour in Sydney on Saturday. It was the first time she had performed in front of a crowd since being diagnosed with breast cancer in May last year. The London-based 2004 Grammy winner was forced to take a break of more than a year while she underwent treatment. She was diagnosed with cancer just days before she was due to start the final leg of her Showgirl World Tour in Australia. The tour was postponed indefinitely with fans told to hold on to their tickets. Following Sydney, Minogue and her Showgirl troupe will travel to Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth, before heading back to Europe, playing dates in the UK from January 2 http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=81437- What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?
