Y'wanna know what's terrible, Emily (Is it?)? Well, at least for me. What's terrible is having to see all our cultures demolished by this word ''globalization''... and people all around the world acting the same, having the same issues.. and so on. This is what I find quite terrible. Yeap! As for the news, I watch it. Not regularly, though. And the only news channel I like watching is Aljazeera English. It's the best one out there, IMO.

It is not that it's forbidden for us. We can own dogs, walk dogs.. etc, it's just that we can't get them inside our houses and it's still NOT absolutely forbidden. It's a bit like the deal with pork for us and Jews. I'm not gonna go more into why we can't have them inside our houses because many I think would disagree and wouldn't be able to understand it fully. But that's how our religion is and that's what our beliefs are. When I first saw the title of this thread I was like 'Oh dear, I wonder how many of you could've got this wrong.' And I'm quite glad that many of you have responded in that way hehe.. :D As for 'ugadawg5', he has always been this biased or racist from the minute I've started coming to this forum. And I remember he and I had this heated discussion about Islam and I figured then that it's useless to talk to people like him.

I didn't to get to vote in the previous rounds, but it's a shame 'I Might Be Wrong' got out. It was one of my top favourites from Amnesiac. I've just voted for 'Pyramid Song', in hopes 'Life in a Glasshouse' and 'You and Whose Army?' would make it to the final. These two songs are epic!! Please don't vote 'You and Whose Army?' off!!

I learned about them by listening to 'Close your eyes-we are blind', which Zach Condon from Beirut sings along in it. And so I downloaded the full album 'Dance Part in the Balkans' and loved it!! They have such a beautiful sound. Btw, Julia, you may want to try out some Beirut. They are really good as well. Mo (user-burningmonk) had told me couple of days ago that George Orwell's 1984 had the word '2+2=5' in it.. and the song Optimistic references another of his books, called Animal Farm. So yep, I guess that these sort of books had -in your words- a concrete influence on their albums. I will be soon reading that book (1984) and I really can't wait!!! Btw, I didn't hear of We before.
