  1. X&Y: Hmm, the timing is a bit off. But sounds close to the original. Nice bass. Truman: I haven't heard the original, but I liked what you played. Speed of Sound: Sounded good - I liked the way you played the chorus. Clocks: Same goes here as for X&Y - the drums sound a bit off, and the tempo seems to vary throughout the song.
  2. Good job, both singing and playing. I particularly liked the part where the other guitar comes in. Nice sound quality too.
  3. The boards are a bit buggy, eh? I noticed some stuttering aswell. Anyway, I found a decent tab here: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/c/coldplay/talk_ver3_tab.htm
  4. I've got some top secret folders ;) (Ubuntu 7.10).
  5. I study mathematics, physics and programming at uni. Pretty much to do.
  6. Here's an old instrument thread: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39924 Lots of nice pics there too :).
  7. For the talk chorus, check out this post: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2177398&postcount=3
  8. Sounds like e|-------------------------- B|-------------------------- G|-----0----------------0--- D|-2-3-----0------0-2-3----- A|-------3------------------ E|-----------3------------3-
  9. Wow, that was really cool! I'm not a bass player, but it seems that you have a good technique - nice to see fingerstyle bass.
  10. Hmm, I think hobbestheprince gave a good description of a hammer-on. But I found a video showing a hammer-on and a pull-off: In the beginning the sound might fade quickly when doing it, but with some practice your fingers will become stronger and faster, and things will be better. Which song(s) are you playing now, by the way?
  11. Talk was pretty nice, except for the chorus part which sounded a bit off. Here's how to play it: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=352595907537499728&hl=en You could also try to add more "feeling", maybe by using a little vibrato. Keep on playin'!

  13. It's hard to choose five, but here's the songs I listen to less frequently than the others: 1.36 - I think it's a bit noisy and annoying. For You - ZZZZzzzz (repetitive) I don't have anything concrete against the next three, but I think they are weaker than the rest of Coldplay's songs: I Bloom Blaum Easy To Please Parachutes
  14. The numbers represent the frets on the guitar. In your example, you use your index finger on fret 1 on the 2nd string (B-string), middle finger on fret 2 on the 4th string (D), ring finger on fret 3 on the 5th string (A) and pinky finger on fret 3 of the 6th string (E). Since you are new to guitar playing, you can leave out the pinky on the E-string, since this might be hard for newcomers. The letters on the side is the tuning. EADGBe is the standard tuning. Colplay uses this tuning alot, aswell as some more "exotic" tunings for songs like Til Kingdom Come, See You Soon, Spies and so on. But don't worry about this in the beginning, focus on songs with standard tuning. Check this site: http://www.chordbook.com/guitartuner.php Here you can tune your guitar in EADGBe, or choose one of the other tunings in the drop down menu. Good luck, and come with new questions if you have some.
  15. Uhm, the tab posted above isn't quite right. AFAIK, Jonny plays this: e|-----------------------------------------------------------------------| B|--------9-8--------------9-8-6-----------9-8-6-------------9-8---------| G|------8-----8----------6-------6-------6-------6---------8-----8-------| D|----8---------8------8-----------8---8-----------8----10---------10----| A|-10-------------10-8---------------8---------------11---------------11-| E|-----------------------------------------------------------------------| He plays the B-string more "forte/loud" than the others, which kinda make it sounds like the tab above :).
  16. Use WinZip, WinRAR, or my personal (and free) favorite; 7-Zip (http://www.7-zip.org/)
  17. Thanks, the guitars aren't "top of the pops" within their brand, but I think I'm the limitating factor anyway ;) Your Telecasters are hot, by the way. I'm weak for those; nice look and an excellent solo tone.
  18. Rich nylon acoustic Azalea steel acoustic Ibanez GRX 70 Gibson Les Paul Special Faded Roland Cube 30 W
  19. The guitar is tuned 1/2 step down. So he plays with an open 1.string Eb|-0-0-0 Bb|-5-5-5 etc
  20. Johnny's often using the E-Bow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-Bow) to produce these synth-like sounds.
  21. You mean this? E---4--------4--------4 B------0--------0------ G-4-------4--------4--- ---2--------2--------2 ------0--------0------ (times 2) 4--------4--------4--- ---2--------2--------2 ------0--------0------ 3--------3--------3--- And when you get to "Oh how good is it to live ..." (3:06), you simply play it one octave higher, but you strum and mute the B-string.

  24. @lili_portugal: I checked out the album (before I downloaded it, I though mr. Braff had made/composed the songs himself ), and it was a nice, listener-friendly album - thanks for showing me. It was also fun to see that "Warning Sign" was one of the tracks, even though it has gotten pretty old now (still good, though). @soufiancemac2, apple.m & iccp; thanks :)
