  1. That's Eno. He turns all his bands into stadium acts. (not that Coldplay weren't one already)
  2. I want to know how you know it wasn't intentional. You have no idea what they intended. People sing, play, and write notes out of key of the time. It's called dissonance. It actually songs purposeful to me, and I can imagine on a project of this size they'd miss much of anything. But again, I don't know if it was a mistake or not. And unlike you, I really don't think the songs all that great. It's alright, kind of boring. The lyrics are really bad, but some of the "newer-ish" ideas that they haven't used before work pretty well, I think. If there's a problem with the production, it's that it's mastered too loud. Very little room to breathe in the song. My two cents.
  3. For everyone wondering about the lack of "Famous Old Painters", that's probably just being called "Viva La Vida" now. Just a name swap.
  4. Too many people seem to be frustrated right now. People complaining about the title or saying that there's no way that can be the title. Coldplay will do whatever they want and you may not like it. But, geez, it's their fucking art. Let them make it. If you don't like it, there you go, but c'mon. This probably isn't the tracklist, but it's already been stated that the album will be shorter and that a 9-track disc is likely. So calm down. Also, there are plenty of albums that have only 9 tracks to their name. Take Thom Yorke's "The Eraser" for a more recent example. Most albums don't suffer from being short. It usually helps. Also, don't worry, you'll get all the songs. Most of what I'm hearing about the CD has me somewhat excited (besides the bits of lyrics RS reveled, not good, not good). Don't be turned off by talk of "everyone might not like this, but it's what we're doing". That's a good thing. It means they are doing what they want to do and not what they think people will like. That will in most situations allow for the best music and art to be produced. Everyone chill out. Also, you get your announcement in good time. Be patient. Here's to waiting for the leak!
  5. I'm excited. But the lyrics we've been subject to so far, really suck. The music sounds fresh and, I think it might be good. (More African and Shoegaze influences) I'm kind of optimistic. But. X&Y still looms over, making me doubt. I'm really glad they aren't touting it about, saying that it's the best thing that ever happened to music.
  6. Colplay won't ever make anything as good as OK Comp.
  7. If the new Coldplay sounds anything resembling flamenco (or anything similar), I'm out, and calling it a day. But, if (like it says) the album just captures the energy and life of Barcelona, then we might be in for a treat. Now, a shaker or 2 would be cool. And I'd be up for some new trippy rhythems (5/4, 7/8 anyone? I think yes). But beyond that, it'd more than likely end in complete mess. I'm excited though.
  8. It obviously will be a sign of new things to come, but what exactly it the question.
  9. 1 Elbow 2 The Beatles 3 Sigur Rós 4 Explosions In The Sky 5 Death Cab For Cutie 6 Radiohead 7 Blur 8 U2 9 The Strokes 10 Bright Eyes 11 The Smiths 12 Muse 13 Ben Folds 14 Interpol 15 Nick Drake 16 Bloc Party
  10. I sure hope so. I hope the new site is really cool. The latest one was pretty lame. Hopefully it'll be very functional too. I'm guessing we get some kind of new-album-info with the new site. At least what kind of direction they are going. Hopefully. I think we may be getting the album sooner than expected.
  11. It was in a play. It was The Scientist.
  12. Long Play 4. Records are called Lps. Coldplay's forth record.
  13. 5 Help Is Just Around The Corner
