personally from the youtube clips i though the performance of vlv was seemless, brilliant even Im in the school that thinks lovers in japan the acoustic is the best new song, disliked yes, experimental but a failure, loved violet hill and vlv and thought lost was an ok b side

its just seemed like he was out of breath, or ill, or perhaps trying way too hard, he didnt get much of a rhythm going until the second chorus when he got back to the keyboard

to be honest it sounds like hes out of breath alot, a cold or something, or nerves as youve mentioned. Like a sprinter whos takena few months out, comes back realising hes not fit, its been mentioned that they havent done live for a long while, maybe he underestimated he was lacking "fitness" as it were
