I'm surprised (in a good way) that Paradise is doing that well.:)

At the very least, these should be released for radio play.

It's pretty much their standard practice now.

Scary for us fans maybe, but It's great news for the boys.:smug:

I'm not in London, so this is just heresay (so take it with a grain of salt), but doesn't Emirates(SP?) have a reputation for being more rigid than Wembley on that type of thing?

Coldplay sales Updates
I'd think so. It's platinum in several countries, gold in several more, and sold over a million copies (closer to two). It may not be as big a hit as VLVADAAHF but, it's still doing pretty well all things considered.

Coldplay latest act to freeze out streaming services (Mylo Xyloto now on Spotify: 1st Feb 2012)
I rest my case. The whole thing is just more "everything should be free to everyone on the internet" nonsense dressed up with a token payment to make people feel better about it.

Coldplay sales Updates
MX is at no 7 in the Billboard charts right now and several sources are predicting it may go back up a couple place due to fairly weak offerings being released in weeks ahead. It's close to platinum in the states. Coupled with really strong demand for the UK stadium tickets, good news abounds for the boys.

Guitar in christmas lights
I've been looking around online and it does seems like it's possible to get an es 120 for $600-800 which isn't a whole lot more than most epiphones are going to run you these days, especially if you're looking at archtops.

Guitar in christmas lights
No. It has never been reissued by Gibson or Epiphone. Gibson's Custom Shop might be able to make you one, but that would be very expensive (probably in the $5000 range, considerably more than even a vintage one.) Unfortunately, you're not going to find one for less than around $1000-1500 Epiphone did reissue the ES 295 some years ago, which is probably the closest model you'll get in a new guitar, but I don't think they even produce that model anymore. If you're looking for something tonally similar, an Epiphone Casino will get you fairly close.

Coldplay feature in new O2 ad campaign
This is kind of advertising their own concert though. As with Itunes, I think it's probably one of those things they have to do in order to play ball with the music industry.

Guitar in christmas lights
It's actually an ES-125 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gibson_ES-125 It's similar to the 120 except it has a "dog ear" P90 single coil pickup (the same kind as an Epiphone Casino, an ES 330 or a really early Les Paul) They haven't been made since the 60's but vintage ones generally cost less than most new Gibsons, and aren't especially hard to find. Guy also used this model (possibly the same guitar) on Don Quixote on the last South American Tour.

I think they're wrapping up their commitments over here soon, and they have about a month gap before their UK dates, so maybe they will do a bit.

Touting usually doesn't work so well for stadium gigs because even for the most popular bands, there are usually enough tickets to go round.

I'm pretty sure the 2nd night at Wembley wasn't a full sell out. Could be wrong though.

Coldplay sales Updates
I don't doubt it. The band (but especially Chris) are getting really good buzz from this round of US promo, even from people that would usually be slagging them off.

Quality dipping is often more a case of the newness of a band wearing off, as opposed to anything to do with the music itself (although it could certainly mean the quality has dipped too.) At the age and stage of their career Coldplay are at now, their never going to be the "hot new band of the moment" again, but that's a normal progression.

Coldplay sales Updates
If it falls at it's current rate, it should be 9 or 10 next week, so it likely has at least 1 more week in the top 10 (unless it goes up, which is always possible.) To put things in perspective though, MX is already at Platinum levels in several counties, and gold in several more, so it's not exactly doing poorly, just maybe not as well as people would have hoped. It kind of reminds me of Oasis, whose albums always sold well, just not at the phenomenal levels of their first 3, and thus were often perceived as doing poorly.

I'm pretty sure Guy has said he's not a fan of sport. Could be wrong though. Seems like they're playing some less common cities for a stadium tour this time though, so I guess anything's possible.

It's a great song, but I don't know if it's "single" material.

IDK, it's not as bad as it could be considering that some reports pegged them as likely to drop down way more than that. And I quite like Florence and the Machine actually. ;)

I think they (or rather their handlers) probably feel they need to capitalize on whatever momentum they've got, and waiting would push the big gigs back too far. You have some really good points though.

Sorry for the triple post, but I was searching to try to get cumulative worldwide numbers for MX, and found this article instead. It's fairly interesting: http://www.huliq.com/12092/coldplays-mylo-xyloto-debuts-no-1-pulls-all-bands-albums-charts I guess that's at least 1 bright spot. EDIT: All 5 are also on the UK top 100.
