The Scientist Tuning.
Agreed. The song is almost completely different sounding (better IMHO) Live, and it's because of that part...

The Scientist Tuning.
I just looked at the Glastonbury 2005 video again. Jon IS using a capo on what looks to be the 2nd fret. (that part is a little unclear) As I said before, E flat tuning seems to be the closest I can get to his sound on this song, but is still off in some way. I'm sure there's something abnormal about the tuning Jon uses for this song live.

He does use a capo though, correct? (hard to tell as most of the available clips focus on Chris.)

Can you Clarify one thing for me? The Warning Sign tuning you gave was for Jon's part, right? the way you phrased it, you could be talking about Chris' part, which I have no interest in thanks again...:D EDIT: can you tab out Trouble (that is, if it's not too much trouble...Sorry had to go there!)

The Scientist Tuning.
Chris does use a capo when played live. (at least he did on Twisted Logic shows, though I don't think they played warning sign much on the AROBTTH tour.) 2nd fret as near as I can tell from the video clips I've seen.

The Scientist Tuning.
:DThat helps a great deal!:D I thought is was the same as Warning sign, but everybody told me no... I guess I should learn to trust my own judgement in the future!

ES-335
Does anyone know what era of 335 Jonny uses? It looks like a 70's 335 in some videos I've seen and like a later reissue in others. The only info I can find on it's make is that it is "vintage" which is a somewhat generic term, to say the least. I know this is like my 1000th CP gear question:freak:, but if anyone knows, please share...

The Scientist Tuning.
I've been playing it tuned to E Flat and it sounds fairly close (though not exactly right), though I'm sure part of that is that the effects are also off.

What's Jon's Guitar in this clip?
There are lots of 335's with trems (usually Bigsby's) Noel Gallagher has used a Bigsby Equipped 335 as one of his main guitars since at least 2000.

What's Jon's Guitar in this clip?
When I first saw it, I assumed it was his 335 as well, the finish is similar etc. It's only when you look close that you can see the difference.

What's Jon's Guitar in this clip?
It's not his 335. It has Gretsch filtertron pickups and you can see the Gretsch logo on the pickguard and headstock. I'm just trying to narrow down the specific model.

What's Jon's Guitar in this clip?
I know it's a Gretsch, but the video doesn't give a close enough look to determine the exact model. Does anyone have any info? I've never seen him with this guitar outside of this clip...

Guitar Strings
I kind of suspected he used EB Slinky's as well...

Warning sign cover...
I went ahead and did it, and it sounded ACE! Crowd loved it too... I've got a pretty good recording of it, so as soon as my computer stops acting up, I'll post it for you guys...

Chris's Piano
I know. Guy uses an old moog for the sounds in square one. But Chris does often get sounds out of his piano that are not possible with the stock effects on that model of piano. Will try to find a clip to illustrate what I'm talking about.

JONNY BUCKLAND REVERB SOUND?
I read in an old interview (Parachutes era I think) , that he usually sets everything to max and leaves it there. Now idea how true this is though, or if it's still true now. It doesn't usually sound like nearly that intense of a reverb to me...

Chris's Piano
He also has non stock effects added to it as well.

You should be fine without a capo.

I meant low key as in more subtle than the hype preceding previous releases, not a total lack of any publicity. Keep in mind that what EMI wants, may not be what Coldplay wants, and though EMI would ordinarily win out in such situations, Coldplay likely have more leeway than virtually any other artist due to their status as one of the most lucrative bands on the EMI roster. (one of the few EMI uk artists to have any notable degree of success in the crucial American market) Also, If I'm not mistaken (I could very well be), the Today show gig is after the album is released, so can hardly be counted as promotional hype. Compare this one television gig to the large club tours of both the U.S. and Europe preceding the release of X&Y...

Tracklist revealed
The final title and tracklisting for X and Y were not "officially" released until mid april 2005, so as long as we get something in the next couple weeks, it's still in line with the last release. I really think they want this new release to be "low key" and avoid the onslaught of hype that preceded the release of X and Y. We have a release date, so just try to relax a bit and let it come when it comes. I know it's hard, but we've got to wait regardless, so we might as well not give ourselves heart attacks, otherwise we'll never make it to the release date...;)

Warning sign cover...
Hi, my band and I are working on some Coldplay covers for an upcoming gig, and I could use a bit of feedback. I am considering playing Warning sign on my 12 string, I really dig the sound but it's a bit strange and I am not sure if other people will dig it as much as I do. What do you guys think? (I realize it's a bit foolish to ask without posting a clip of me playing the song, but my webcam decided to crap out today:embarassed:, if I can get it working, I will post it) Just asking for some opinions...

Thanks, I just tried that one and it sounds correct...:D
