I don't know if it's just me, but I though Sean Penn was a little overdramatic in some of the scenes of this movie. Especially when he first finds out that his daughter is dead. I liked Tim Robbins though. Can't tell if this movie will win any awards or not.

So I'm not going to go as in depth as you did. Just because I'm lazy. But ... first of all, I haven't seen any of the movies you mentioned so I can't comment on those. But what I will say is that I feel like the movie industry has been more focused on things like special effects and in doing this, the overall script seems to be not as in depth as it could be. I'm not sure how to explain it, but it's just that when I walk out of movie theaters nowadays, I don't really feel like the m ovie has moved me or made me think about it. They are more obvious than I would care for it to be. But that's just my opinion.
