  1. haha. well I think a lot of them are great riffs. I think the reason why they were considered huge for their riffs is because I guess in terms of the time that they were around it was a pretty big thing going on and something that people latched onto easily. I don't really hear the drums being too off much, then again I'm probably so used to those recordings anyway. I still think that he's a great drummer, some of the fills that he's done live are great, and he has been considered to be one of the best rock drummers. He is a really great bass player. Definitely one of the most solid members of the band. If you want to hear a great song w/ his bass playing check out The Lemon Song excellent bass playing, especially that little bend at 5:16 Are there any songs that you like by them, or not really?
  2. I'm sorry jules, but I don't think I'm going to be able to make it :( I have to drive my brother back to school tonight. There's a chance I might be able to make it at the start depending what time it starts.
  3. Thanks Reilly! I would have to disagree, in that I do think they do have a whole bunch of classic or catchy riffs. I mean I've found when I've seen people listing the top catchiest or "best" riffs (whatever that even means), that Zeppelin usually holds a lot of those spots. I would consider the following songs to be their most popular or catchiest riffs (though it pretty much includes most of their songs with riffs): Dazed and Confused (bass), How Many More Times, Whole Lotta Love (bass), Moby Dick, The Lemon Song, Heartbreaker, Living Loving Maid, Bring it on Home (1/2 way into the song), Immigrant Song, Black Dog, The Ocean, Kashmir, Houses of the Holy, The Rover, The Wanton Song, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Fool in the Rain. This video has a pretty comprehensive top 10 list of songs though I might change a few of them around or take one or two of them out and replace them with ones I've mentioned. ignorant slut? :bigcry:
  4. Perfect choices for both of you. I'm going to go with [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsPcGCAgvvE]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsPcGCAgvvE[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nC9Vt1xQ5Kw]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nC9Vt1xQ5Kw[/ame]
  5. I think they were creative in being able to come up with many famous guitar riffs (though they have been known to borrow or be influenced by others) and as I said having a unique chemistry together especially when playing live. well I do admit that Page was a very sloppy guitar player. I mean honestly I'd rather him play a more meaningful or soulful solo like say Gilmour or Clapton, but I still think he was great. I think honestly that was the kind of sound they were going for at least initially. Get a grungy, dirty, bluesy feel to them. at least that's how I see it
  6. yeah If it's that many then I'd imagine just 1 per person. hopefully they'll make the newspaper available to download, especially for all the people that are a far distance from distribution locations. then try to get there early. I'm going to try to be there like 2 hours or so before they are handed out, just to be on the safe side
  7. I don't see how on earth you can call a band like Led Zeppelin a group of "talentless people with little or no creativity". They are in my opinion one of the most talented bands ever. From Jimmy page to John Paul Jones to John Bonham and even Robert Plant vocally (well at least say the first 3-4 albums), they were an amazing musicians with great chemistry when playing music together. Yeah you may not like them or think their lyrics are shit, or feel the music is terrible but you cannot deny their huge importance within the music world or how much talent as musicians they had. Like I personally am not a fan of Jimi Hendrix's music, but he still was an incredible musician. I think they were able to really bring more blues to a mainstream audience, but also help pave the way to making music heavier. For better or for worse it was a band like Zeppelin that directly influenced the emergence of metal music. Yes their music isn't metal but the whole image that is associated with them is always seen within metal.
  8. Winter's Bone-6/10 Acting was really great, but the movie was so slow.
  9. I'm sure they'll be a limit per-person. I'm still going to try and get a few of them, even if that means slipping a 20 to the person distributing it
  10. At work they play a lot of popular songs from today and over the past like 20 years. Unfortunately it includes Nickelback
  11. Nancy Grace may be the most over dramatic person on tv. My mom used to watch her all the time
  12. I love Ten Years Gone. In fact it might be my favorite Led Zeppelin song, which is strange because it's not a very well known song by theirs. Other favs include: No Quarter, Going to California, Since I've Been Loving You, When The Levee Breaks, Bron-Yr-Aur. maybe I'll make a playlist of some Zeppelin songs, both well known and underrated ones and see what people think.
  13. ^that's a good choice, I might have picked that one
  14. I was thinking about picking a Beatles or Paul McCartney song, but i figure a lot of these songs will be by the Beatles so I decided picking another song/artist [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMytHN6odD4]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMytHN6odD4[/ame]
  15. also I dunno if you guys saw but yesterday I did a cover of These Are My Twisted Words if you want to check it out
  16. you can always play a few songs from the last one (seeing as i missed it) :P
  17. sweet.. I'm pretty sure i'll be around
  18. TKOL and "Amazing" does not compute :|
  19. Overall I'd go with The Suburbs, though right now I'd say TKOL since it just came out. but I also agree in that I didn't hear a song that I was amazed by
  20. all I know is Thom Yorke's Remix of Doom [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvACD45Z1Pg]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvACD45Z1Pg[/ame]
  21. alrighty then... here's some playlists. This is Bob Dylan. Unfortunately a lot of his songs are not on it, so in addition to the songs I picked other songs that are good or popular include: Simple Twist of Fate, Desolation Row, I Shall Be Free, Tangled Up in Blue, Jokerman, Death of Hattie Carrol, Shelter from the Storm, I Shall Be Released, You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go, Just Like a Woman, Mr Tamborine Man. I'm sure there's many more I'm missing. so if you want search on google, but here's the playlist. http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=9AA857BBABEC8076 If I was to recommend an album by him go for Blood on the Tracks, it's my favorite. Beatles: I separated it into 2 parts. First is their biggest hits: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=CD55B696EC06C540 Next are some deep-cuts, or not as popular songs that I think are great: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=5577E1310BC5DC83
  22. Did a cover of These Are My Twisted Words if you want to check it out. keep in mind that it's really difficult to sing while playing that weird picking pattern.
  23. Pitchfork just announced that LCD Soundsystem will be broadcasting their MSG show on youtube http://pitchfork.com/news/41857-pitchfork-to-stream-lcd-soundsystems-final-show-live-from-madison-square-garden/
