  1. First of all before I state my favorite song, I want to say that the process of picking a favorite song of all time is impossible for me, and although I may post this one, there are probably at least 10-15 other songs that could take this spot. Also initially I was going to pick The Beatles Abbey Road Medley (Because-Her Majesty), however it isn't of course a single song but 10 songs, yet they are strung together so well and flawlessly that I can only listen to it in full. Anyway without further adieu my favorite song... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWWJx4gpfMg]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWWJx4gpfMg[/ame] one of the many demos of the song: Of all The Beatles songs that are out there it may seem like quite a strange choice to pick this one, not only because it's not nearly one of their more popular of well known songs, and also the song itself was recorded in a span of about 15 years. John Lennon initially recorded this song with just a piano track, vocals and a tambourine metronome in 1980. However Lennon died that year and the song was lost. But in the early 90's for the Beatles Anthology project McCartney approached Yoko to see if she had any demos that the rest of the band could use. So this was one of the songs she gave. It was recorded in 1995 and released in 96. Now the reason why I chose this song is not because of the quality. Yes the instruments sound good, but the vocals are kind of hidden and hard to hear, which is no surprise considering it was recorded as a home demo. Personally I think it is one of the best written songs I have heard. The chords that he has in it are very catchy but at times extremely haunting especially when the intro piano bit comes in. The harmonies themselves are really great especially at one point that they sound so good it gives me chills (3:19). This song pretty much has most of what you need from any Beatles song, a good chord progression, great melody, background harmonies, and also of course the other members backing up. I wish that I could write a song like this because I think it's brilliant. The song itself sort of reminds me of my childhood because I remember that one and Free As a Bird being songs I heard, but it wasn't until a few years later I found out how new they were compared to their other catalog. Also at the same time the song makes me sad knowing that Lennon never got to work on these songs, and I guess for other personal reasons too. Overall it's a song I have listened to so much and never get sick of. Also here are some honorable mentions that had the possibility to be my favorite:
  2. you guys are listing so many chocolate bars I haven't even heard of :bomb:
  3. nice... I think I might like those options more
  4. ^what other options?
  5. Hey Rosetta (March 28th) [possibly going to this] Explosions in the Sky (April 1st)
  6. just bought Kaputt by Destroyer (thanks to Briggs) also the Norwegian Wood soundtrack (mainly Jonny Greenwood soundtrack)
  7. yeah, but it's I guess the biggest nuclear issue since Chernobyl
  8. me too. It's one of the things I'm most afraid of. It's better not to think about it.
  9. True but also it has 10 songs. That makes it feel longer too. I think it's the overall feel of an album too that makes it seem if it's long enough or not. For me it's a combination of the length of the album in runtime and also the amount of songs. Like it's funny but for Beck I often forget that his last album was Modern Guilt. It's not as if I don't like it because I really do but it's so short that it doesn't fully feel like an album. But it's weird because although it's 5 minutes shorter than TKOL I'd consider it more of an album than that. I guess I feel that 8 songs is way too short for an album. Yes bands like Pink Floyd and Yes released albums that were only 3-5 songs but the songs were so long (often 10-20 mins each) that it felt like an album.
  10. I am for nuclear power. Not only does it produce a huge amount of energy but also is clean energy too. Of course like w/ Japan there are times that these problems can happen, but at the same time these plants should be up to date and constantly be under testing. I think if anything we should focus more on ways to contain radiation or limit it moving in event of a meltdown like here in Japan or at Chernobyl.
  11. haha very true. I think when it comes to war that intelligence must be perfect, and also that all other options have been exhausted
  12. Well that's the problem about going to war is deciding when to leave. I just feel that all of these Post WWII wars have been pointless in the sense that there's never really been much of an end in site to any of them. Like I mean Iraq has been going on for a long time and won't probably ever really end. Same with Afghanistan... I thought things were going well but then after time attention was taken away from it and you have Generals saying it's unwinnable. So if that's the case then what do you do? Occupy the country forever? Or do you leave with a huge possibility of it going wrong. It's a delicate situation. I agree in the sense it was a stable country and able to function on it's own. However hindsight is 20/20 and who knows what the Middle East would've looked like with him still in power. For all we know there could've been a Nuclear Arms race between Iran and Iraq. I honestly don't really think that that was the reason we went to Iraq. I think that the intelligence was wrong. Also I feel that Cheney probably egged Bush on... he definitely seemed like the person who was into going to war IMO
  13. I think regardless we shouldn't spend way too much time in there. We don't want another Iraq situation where people seemed happy at first, but then things went all sour. I say we try to help them as much as possible to overthrow Gaddafi and then step back and let them make their own decisions
  14. I have mixed feelings. Part of me thinks that what he has done to his people is terrible that we should try to help. At the same time I don't like the idea of getting involved in ANOTHER war. We are already in so much debt already. Also fighting 3 wars at once is too much at one time. At least though there is much more of a backing from the international community so it's not as if we are spending all the money, but still.
  15. I think it sounds cool
  16. ok cool! :D now I forgot Lore, did you ever get to see McCartney, or not. I though I remember something where you couldn't go last minute, but I forgot or maybe it was someone else.
  17. I should probably see a doctor in the next day or two if this scratchy throat doesn't go away
  18. why not to the show yourself? if I waited for other people I wouldn't have seen most of the bands I have
  19. all of those Paul conspiracies were ridiculous. I found it great how the rest of the band played along with with songs like Glass Onion
  20. Paul is dead man... miss him, miss him. edit: also I did a cover a few weeks ago of Paul McCartney's Let Em In
  21. bump... I just saw Nowhere Boy... great movie! It really gave great insight to John's teen years growing up.

wow... well at least it's good that he's okay. I hear it can be really bad from what my grandfather used to say (before he died). He really hated it because he had to really watch what he was eating a lot, and he used to love eating things that were unhealthy.
