  1. exactly... better to be overprepared than underprepared. yeah.
  2. yeah well of course with any storm some people will be more affected than others. Also it was because of the news and their local law enforcement that they decided to leave their homes. I think it'd be better to be over-prepared or "over-hype" a storm even to people that might not be affected rather than down play it and have people carry on with their daily life activities.
  3. seriously... what Megalomania (I don't know your name) said. I mean I am fine and was lucky. but I have a cousin who's home got completely flooded and it ruined everything... and also my uncle has (last i heard) water right up to his door and probably will continue to flood and ruin his house. So maybe you should think about posting that kind of icon in response to someone elses post before doing so. Yeah maybe some people like myself weren't really effected by the storm, but I personally know a lot of people that were, and it pisses me off to see you post something like that.
  4. Glad you didn't get hit hard. Honestly here it didn't seem much like a hurricane, if anything just a regular or heavy rain storm we sometimes get. There was a little bit of flooding in our basement/celler, but that's just from the ground being so saturated that it leaks in. But it's kind of normal when we get a lot of rain. No trees down or anything. I feel we lucked out (especially compared to some other family I know).
  5. Thanks! Yeah I know... I'm sure they'll be fine, and I hope they will be. Just be sure to secure things down. Like I said the good thing is the storm is not as strong as it was before. Stay safe
  6. looking at the map the eye pretty much passed directly over us. But now honestly it's fine. I went outside. The rain has stopped, it's just slighty windy. To be honest it doesn't really seem like there even was a hurricane. Just like a regular heavy rain storm we sometimes get. No damage was done, just a little bit of flooding in our basement... but that's normal with a lot of rain. I hope you'll be okay Marie! At least the storm is breaking up, but there's still a lot of rain.
  7. looks like the storm has pretty much passed down. I mean the eye is still making it's way, but there's no rain in the southern part of the storm.
  8. haha yeah time for some sleep... i'm exhausted... it's been a long day. stay safe fellow east coast coldplayers in this storm!
  9. Rats would probably migrate up from the depths of the subway... though i'm not sure where they'd go exactly. I just know NYC is known for having big rats. I think I saw one once as a kid. yeah I'm thinking the same here. They say the worst will be later in the morning. Right now there's just a lot of rain w/ little gusts of wind.
  10. well in NYC you have to worry about rats... pretty much the size of cats :|
  11. yeah I mean it's only a category 1 which compared to other hurricanes is not too bad Right now it seems like just what we expect from heavy rain storms. I'm sure it'll be fine into tomorrow, but of course since I've never really experienced any hurricane before I don't fully know.
  12. it's been raining really heavily so far. Wind hasn't been too bad yet, but they say the worst is still yet to come in the morning hours. so we'll see
  13. heavy rain now and the rain is getting a bit stronger.
  14. Being so used to Grand Central... this is such a strange sight to see :|
  15. yes people in the news use fear tactics, but it's still a major storm. ESPECIALLY for the North East. I mean we haven't experienced a storm or hurricane like this in decades. Is it a super strong storm? no. I mean it looks as though it's weakening, though who knows what will happen if it goes off shore. and back to sea. There will definitely be flooding and damage. I mean before today the ground is already damp because we've gotten a lot of rain. Also in the past, storms (not nearly as strong as this one) have caused a lot of flooding. Also we've had storms with wind that has knocked down a bunch of trees in the past and blocked off roads. So I think it's understandable for people to be worried or for them to talk about it. Also in some sense it's better to get people scared and have them prepare well ahead of time then make the storm out to be nothing big and it causes a lot of damage.
  16. ...there's enough Donkey's running this country already... we don't need any more of them.
  17. both beautiful pictures of you emma and jules! :D also emma you look a lot like this girl that used to go to the same HS as me in the first picture... it's kind of funny how similar.
