  1. well linkin park is my favourite band (then RHCP then coldplay) hybrid theory was the first album i ever bought and still is my favourite album of all time its basically the soundtrack to my teen years. meteora was awesome too but MTM was not worth the 4yr wait. i hope the boys improve otherwise they will get the flick from my faves list
  2. yippeee!! its so much better when we get solid dates but i dont think i will fully believe this until i see it on their official website
  3. ^^ right on mate!! i paid zit for in rainbows but since then ive legally purchased the rest of their discography
  4. ^^ at least you guys in the UK are lucky in the sense that most of the gigs will be within an hours drive of where u live even if you miss out on your home town gig. down here in Aus if we miss out on our hometown gig the nearest gig is a 10hour drive. and i soooo hope they play a small arena instead of a stadium. i would absolutely hate to see them in a massive venue even if it means that there will be more tickets available
  5. it depends on what the connectionis . because most of the mixing and mastering is done by people outside of the band. so if that person works in that field theres a very good chance that they have heard the entire album. but i really dont see how that changes anything unless they do what alot of people do and that is hack into the label's computer and leak the album
  6. now here's some truly great news. but i really hope this won't be the only promotion of the album before its official release most bands play a few new songs at promo shows after the release of the first single and before the album comes out.
  7. thanks everyone but i would really really appreciate it if people who visited the blog actually commented on the entries so i get some idea of what people think. you could even put your reactions here that would be totally fine and a little request to the moderators. would it be possible for you guys to put a link to my blog on the bulletins you send out by email. that would be really lovely. thanks
  8. This is my first post on this massive thread. I've recently become a huge radiohead fan (since the release of In Rainbows). I have one very simple question to everyone here Is Radiohead one great album away from becoming one the best bands of all time to never really crack the mainstream market???
  9. ^^ such a huge relief isnt it!!!! i was really worried for a little bit with all this hispanic and latino influence stuff but it seems like its just gonna be another coldplay album. i just want a complete album.
  10. ^^ my signature is my blog link mate- whispersofascientist.blogspot.com that is my website
  11. like most of the songs on X&Y it has brilliant lyrics but very bland music. but it cements chris's position as one of the best songwriters going around at the moment.
  12. i've made a couple more posts on the blog here's a small preview Tracklisting Released before i say anything else let me get some things straight. it is down right impossible to judge any album from the titles of the songs and the order in which they are going to appear so this announcement tell us very little about the album itself. on top of this announcement the band has promised us a "couple" of singles before the release of the album which is great news as it means that we will most probably being hearing some new songs by the end of the month or early in May (either 'Yes' or 'Violet Hill' or '42'). Despite the rather superficial nature of this news i still do have a couple of issues. first the fact that the album will only have 10 songs and will run for a rumoured 42 minutes. this is significantly shorter than previous records. Being a long time Linkin Park fan short albums don't bother me that much (their first two albums combined are just over an hour). what irritates me is that this album has taken over a year to record and a band of Coldplay's calibre i feel should be churning out more than 10 good songs in a year (assuming that they are all good). of course i didn't expect a 'Wall' style double album epic but i would think that the band would give me more than 10 songs for my $15. making the album so short has only added pressure on the band on top of the delayed release and 'new sound'. at this point the music world expects nothing short of a masterpiece. Radiohead's In Rainbows album was only 10 tracks and in my opionion is one of the best albums of the decade. hopefully Coldplay give us something on par with that. but according to Billboard there will be a hidden track on the album called 'Escapist'. i personally think that hidden tracks are the stupidest idea to ever hit music. I really hope that the band and its management increase the frequency of announcements such as this one. There's nothing better for album releases than media attention. since its been close to two years since 'The Hardest Part' was released most people have moved on from the band (except of course the hardcore fans) so it will take (once again) Radiohead like antics to generate the right amount of hype over the release.
  13. ^^ some of the greatest albums of all time have been double albums with over 20 songs ie Physical Graffiti (led zeppelin) and the Wall (pink Floyd). i guess i have very high expectations of the band. As long as the album flows well and falls into myself nicely ill be more than happy. Something on par with in rainbows will be awesome. all i really want is coldplay to have their own sound instead of borrowing from their inspirers (if thats even a word) like radiohead and U2.
  14. heres a translation of the great news (I LOVE TOUR NEWS!!) British training Coldplay would give a show at opening of the Summer festival of Quebec, on July 3rd of this year, to an information brought back by network VAT on Monday evening. Show will take place on the Lowlands of Abraham. The details of the contract would be shortly finalized, always according to VAT. The Summer festival must confirm news in some days.
  15. so it dosn't bother anyone that one of the best bands in the world have only been able to create 10 decent songs in three years??!!?? (assuming that every song on the album will be great)
  16. lets hope viva la vida is just as good as in rainbows cos it will take some beating. in rainbows is a true masterpiece.
  17. do you all think that coldplay sound better in stadiums? i most certainly dont they just dont have the right sound to suit the large venues. they did make a very half-arsed attempt at it in X&Y. i would much rather see them at a smaller venue (max capacity of 25000) but i think theres very little doubt that they will do a wembley gig. check out my blog for the 2008 tour http://whispersofascientist.blogspot.com/
  18. sorry but i really want people to read it and respond to my opionions and views. i dont think i will be posting anything pre-2008 as im sure there are dozens of sites dedicated to that did you hav to put all the posts into the same thread i wouldn't of minded if u just closed off the extra threads. i look like a complete idiot now (some people might feel that way even more so after reading my blog) nonetheless most people here seem very nice. i've been a huge contributor to a chili peppers forum for the past two years but things are getting a little bit tense over there so im over here now.
  19. live show blog i'm a bit short for time so ill make this short you may have seen this thread else where in the forum. i am really desperate to get people on to my blog and reading and commenting. the site is dedicated primarily to live coldplay shows in particular during their upcoming tour http://whispersofascientist.blogspot.com/ enjoy. i know this section of the forum will be of great help to me over the next couple of years or so
  20. hey people im new here but a huge coldplay fan so ive decided to start my own blog dedicated to everything coldplay but in particular their live shows there isnt much on there yet but i hope to put on as many links to bootlegs and videos as i can. it might take a while as i am currently upto my neck with university work but as soon as the tour starts it will be in full swing http://whispersofascientist.blogspot.com/
