  1. ^^ couldn't agree with you anymore about comfortably numb whats even more incredible is that its not his only incredible solo, the solo of money is awesome as is the solo on another brick in the wall. Here are some of my faves John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers) - I could Have Lied And Scar Tissue (One of the greatest live moments in rock history.....stunning live improvisation. Mike McCreddy (Pearl Jam)- Alive And Black http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8bkTusHYeQ Slash (Guns n Roses) - November Rain http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8ARpGUX1w4 Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin)- Dazed and Confused (with violin bow) Angus Young (AC/DC)- Back In Black http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k816dPQyPAM Kirk Hammett (Metallica)- Master of Puppets http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5sXk5tHbqA (also check out James Hetfields solo on Ecstasy of Gold) Mozart himself would've been proud if he composed music like this!! Jack White (The White Stripes)- Ball and Biscuit i have another video of john frusciante and rhcp (yes i am obsesed with the chilis) which i cant find on youtube!!
  2. Coldplay, Pussycat Dolls Set To Perform At MTV Movie AwardsViews 5,767 Show will broadcast live Sunday, June 1. By Shawn Adler From Jason Bourne to Juno MacGuff, the 2008 MTV Movie Awards are about celebrating the best names in film — but it wouldn't be MTV if some of the biggest names in music didn't get their chance to shine as well. Set your "Clocks" for June 1, when Coldplay will take the stage live at the Gibson Amphitheater to perform the single "Violet Hill" from their first new album in three years, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends. Released April 29, the song was downloaded more than 2 million times from the Coldplay Web site. Mr. Gwyneth Paltrow (Chris Martin to his friends) and the rest of the band will no doubt be hoping to follow in the footsteps of already-classic MTV Movie Awards performances like the ones from Rihanna and Amy Winehouse at last year's telecast. They'll have plenty of friendly competition from their fellow performers, the Pussycat Dolls, who will also hit the stage during the irreverent awards show, broadcast live this year on Sunday, June 1. The girls will grab the mic from host Mike Myers to perform "When I Grow Up" from their upcoming second album. Only time will tell whether Coldplay and PCD will shine brighter than the other mega-watt stars in attendance, particularly those who find themselves vying for the coveted Golden Popcorn. This year, expect to see stars from movies like "Superbad" (which led all films with five nominations) and "Juno" (which came in a close second with four) — not to mention actors from films like "Enchanted," "Transformers," "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" and "Knocked Up" which were right behind the leaders with three nominations each. Fans can vote for their favorites by visiting MovieAwards.MTV.com before voting closes on May 23. Stay tuned for more MTV Movie Awards updates, coming soon! The MTV Movie Awards will air live on MTV on Sunday, June 1. All the latest updates on nominees, presenters, performers, voting, contests and much more can be found on MovieAwards.MTV.com. 3. ive made some more additions to my blog. i will try and make it a bit of a one stop shop for their upcoming world tour. as this place can get a bit messy at times
  4. do you think that radiohead might head down to australia after the japan leg of their tour in october. they band has hinted at a south american tour but no mention what so ever of any aussie dates what do people think?
  5. i noticed that there hasn't been too much talk on the announcement of the japan dates in august. the band has a significant break between those dates and the re-commencement of their north american tour. in that time i'm guessing that they will either do an australian tour or an european tour. most bands tend to tour australia after their japan tours and to the person who was upset that they didnt announce any south american dates, i would be very very surprised if they dont tour that region i'm sure they will head over there around early next year like they did in 2007.
  6. saw U2 3D last week and it was unbelievable. by far the best 3D experience ive ever had
  7. i've heard the entire cut copy debut album called "In Ghost Colours" and i would strongly recommend it to anyone who likes their electronic music. the song Lights and music started getting solid airplay on alternative music stations and now it is finally catching on, on the commercial stations also have a listen to "Hearts on Fire" and "so haunted". if you like these guys also check out The Presets and their latest album Apocolypso and Midnight Juggernauts and their album "Dystopia". all three of these bands are aussie and i may be a little bit biased but i believe that australia is leading the world in electronic music.
  8. watching the webcast right now....BUT I CANT GET ANY IMAGES ARRHGHGHGH but its still awesome love john butler trio and cant wait till jack white's raconteurs come on stage
  9. i was referring to bands like 'the killers', chili peppers and linkin park and foo fighters all of whom consistently make great videos using american directors
  10. Talk Show Host would win hands down for me
  11. Hot Hot Heat- Happiness Ltd one of the best bands to come out of canada in recent years
  12. very interesting observations but i'm waiting for the day that coldplay make a half decent video. with the exception of the scientist every clip has been nothing short of laughable. lets hope the band gets themselves a decent director, the americans might hav shit music but they sure do know how to make video clips.
  13. Apocolypso- The Presets Alas I cant Swim- Laura Marling Consolers of the Lonely- The Raconteurs In Ghost Colours- Cut Copy Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds- Dig Lazurus Dig HAARP- Muse Sharing Spaces- Cog
  14. if only guy berryman was cliff burton........
  15. '2732' do u mind since i've sort of re-killed off this thread if i put a couple of songs up myself. what if (X&Y) vs what if (toronto 2006 or any show that you went to)?
  16. ^^ mate you are 110% right. but the only thing is that every improv is the same night after night which means that hardcore fans like me who will most probably download every recording i can get my hands on will find the shows very predictable. but there was something special about live 2003 i think it was the raw emotion and simplicity of the show. i am yet to find a TLT show that i like. i hope they bring that back in 08/09
  17. i really don't see what the big deal is. his certainly not the first to hear the song there are most probably loads of journos and sound engineers and other people in the industry who have heard the entire album. let the man/woman live in peace. just for the record i too am sceptic (but thats just my nature) but i wouldn't be surprised if he is 100% on the mark at the end of the day it still doesn't mean i get to hear the song any earlier. i got all the insight i wanted from the rolling stone article and his views didn't really tell me much more as the biggest attraction of coldplay to me is chris's lyrics and this guy/girl who writes english as well as i do can't recall any words from the song.
  18. nothing will stop manchester united this season. end of story
  19. Live 2003 cos it was in sydney :)
  20. to me coldplay will always be remembered as an album band more than a live band. some songs like politick, AROBTTH and clocks do sound better live but its the fact that they simply dont improvise enough on stage. being a massive RHCP my expectations are quite high. but it would be nice to see the band change around the songs a bit more than they do at the moment. the band should aim to be remembered for more than chris's lyrics and voice. i'm not saying that they should do deep purple style 30minute improvs mid show but the boys need to make their shows less predictable at this point its not much more than chris changing around the lyrics. but i blame their lack of on stage improvisation and jamming on their target audience which is primarily made up of people who listen to 'pop' music with the view anything that doesnt have words to it is not a song. i dont think a long jam at the end of clocks or something will be received well at all by their fans, thats assuming johnny, guy and will are capable of such spotaneous jams without preparation. what do you guys think? sorry mate if i've sort of taken this thread on a bit of tangent. but i think life is for living sounds better on parachutes
  21. ^^ i agree with you i too think it out does nirvanas nevermind. check out their vitalogy album and their latest self titled album their back to their best in it. but its their incredible 2 n half hour shows with 25-30 songs that really impress me. they have been doing shows of that length for over a decade now and showing no signs of slowing down. there the most humble honest not to mention talented rock bands of this era and an inspiration for other bands. very few bands have been able to mix soft and hard rock together so beautifully and consistently. but the biggest attraction is the love and affection they have for their fans. too many bands take their fans for granted (thankfully coldplay isnt one) but pearl jam go out of their way to satisfy their fans. from recording every show they do to capping ticket prices to make it more affordable if in 10yrs time coldplay are even half the band that pearl jam is i would be extremely pleased with the boys.
  22. DAMN YOU EUROPEANS!!!! :shocked2:
  23. Pearl Jam Thread any pearl jam fans in here?? for those of you not familiar with the legendary grunge band from Seattle. they have had hits like "Alive" "Even Flow" "Daughter" "Better Man" "Last Kiss" "Life Wasted" and many many more. Would love to hear from any PJ fans
