Not a clue... I can't even imagine who I'm going to vote for in my own counrtries elections, let alone in the US poll. Are there any decent leaders out there?

Hi everyone, This is a longshot, but I'm looking for some inspiration. I am a High School teacher and on Friday, we are burying a Time Capsule to celebrate our schools 50th anniversary. I need to find a poem to be read out while the capsule is being lowered in to the ground... and I know nothing about poetry. It could be on the theme of past memories or looking to the future, something positive that will inspire... Any ideas? If you can't think of an actual poem, could you perhaps narrow the field by naming a poet? Thank you for taking the time to read this, even if you can't help :)

Ah, like half brothers & sisters rather than brother & sisters-in-law?

Ooh, the twin thing, that's interesting. In my entire life I've only ever known one set of twins - a boy & a girl - but at the school I now teach in we have five or six pairs. So you do you have any of that weird twin stuff going on - can you read each others minds or feel each others pain: or does that just happen to twins on tv? Ok, I'm not understanding this one. If you only have two siblings, how come you have four in-laws? :confused:

Me too. I never wanted a younger sibling, but there have been a lot of times when I wished there was an older brother or sister around. And ultimately, I'd have prefered a brother. Of all my friends, the ones who had a sibling of the opposite sex seem to have the best relationship.

I'd be gutted if I was mistaken for someone so much older than me!

I hear that! On the wall in my parents house they have seven or eight photos of me through the ages... every time I walk past them I feel pressure. It's like, I'm the sole focus of their attention, so if I screw up, I'll break their hearts. Sometimes I think it would be so much easier if there was someone else to share it all with

I cannot imagine what it's like to be one of five. Wow! My parents made a conscious decision just to have one child. My Mum was an only child and loved it, so she didn't see the need to have more than one. My Dad was one of seven and is childhood was really tough so he thought having just one would be better.

I realise that being an only child has had it's advantages - my folks gave me all of their love and attention and financially they were better off so whilst I wasn't spoiled, I never went without. But sometimes I feel like I missed out. It might have been nice to have an older brother or sister to lean on and learn from... And sometimes I wish there was someone else my Mum could focus her attention on. She gets a bit intense sometimes and it's me that has to deal with it!

Reading a couple of other threads tonight got me thinking about family... How many brothers & sisters do you have? Do you get on with them? Have they influenced the person you've become? I'm an only child, and I think that's why I'm such an independant person. I love my friends and family, but I'm also very comfortable when I'm on my own. How about you?

Well that's good. As an only child, I have no experience of sibling relationships, but I guess you two must have a really good relationship - at least, I hope she appreciates you after saving her life!!!

To help the thread along I looked for a ferret fact on wikipedia. How about this: Ferrets have been used to run wires and cables through large conduits. I've just had a look at the UK website for HMV and there's no mention of anything in the "Coming Soon" section - and it goes all the way up to Jan 12th 2009
