The way he went about bashing the band completely made him look like a fool. If you even know the littlest amount about music you know that Coldplay write some of the best melodies ever. And if that is so easy, everyone could be a succesful musician. Since this guy is a music critic, I'm assuming he failed at that. And some of their lyrics may be simple, but that doesn't automatically them bad. By getting so much out of them I think they should be commended. His example of the clocks chorus is a perfect example, it really is quite profound

^They come up with their own titles ha. My girlfriend unfortunately loves them, which is probably why I hate them so much. She dragged me to a concert a little while ago. I think they call the lawyer one the "Me and You" song.

The release date does suck, and I don't runderstand it really. I know idealy a worldwide launch is best from a piracy point of view as well. If I do download a leak, I'll still buy the album, but I know a lot of people wouldn't do that. So is it simply a duplication and distribution issue? Doesn't seem to make sense for a group as big as Coldplay, with a release this big And nice sig btw Kel

Haha, that's pretty funny. There was a guy when I saw it who was having a blast too, it did put a good vibe into the theater. I think he was drunk or something though, he pretty much couldn't stop laughing

Ha that's really true. They can be ridiculous with their song titles, and most are completely irrelevant to the song, plus long as hell. "I'm Like a Lawyer With the Way I'm Always Trying to Get You Off" is my favorite, it's absurd

The band I hate right now is Fallout Boy, I just dont see why people like them it just pisses me off. And they're pretty big, at least here in the states Just pisses me off.

Crests of Waves and Moses, don't know why but I can't stop listening to these two songs lately. I accidentally added them to a playlist in itunes with the new songs and now they're stuck in my head again

I don't know, I'd actually imagine a lot more than that would enter it. Maybe not though. On a side note, if I do win (yeah right) I won't even be able to go. If that actually happens I'm going to be tremendously depressed. I'm taking a few summer classes abroad in London and I leave two days before the show.

ET is a great movie, least from what I remember. I haven't seen it since I was a kid. Close encounters is too. War of the Worlds was pretty ridiculous with the plot holes, recently though he has made a bunch of really awesome movies. Munich was amazing, and I really liked Minority Report

Politik is really amazing! And seeing chris do it solo on piano was one of the greatest things I have ever seen. It does give me goosebumps It's such a hard choice though, Crests of Waves has always been one of my favorites, and X & Y has a great chorus. You could pretty much say any song though and I could see where you were coming from

I think I remember reading that the escapist is the same but with vocals, I might be wrong though

I've listened to it closely, and I really don't think he does. It doesn't matter in what he was trying to say anyway. I was trying to explain that even he says won't/will he still might not understand why, so both could work, whether he is forgiven or not doesn't matter in that way

Yeah I never really liked Speed of Sound all that much, Hardest Part is better I think, maybe because I just didn't hear it played on the radio constantly. And the faster songs are admittedly better, but I really think Proof is a beautiful song, as is Gravity. But I can understand how some people would think it's too trite, usually I hate songs that are that overtly sweet like you're saying. Chris just seems to sing it so sincerely to me that I don't hate it. Swallowed in the Sea is a very good song, a few of the lyrics just annoy me a little too much to call it great, and that might turn some people off entirely

Where are you hearing him say will? I could be wrong but I really don't think he ever says will, and even if he does it doesn't matter in what you're arguing . And I don't think you're understanding the lyrics, or me, you're the one not making any sense. When he first says for some reason I can't explain I think it is in relation to losing his power after losing his love.. "Once you'd gone there was/ Never an honest word/ And that was when I ruled the world". He can't explain it but as soon as the person he loved left he stopped ruling well, and went from "owning the streets, to sweeping them"... from "King to pawn". "People couldn’t believe what I’d become" He says it again in relation to St. Peter and heaven, still says won't, but he can't explain because he doesn't feel as if everything was entirely his fault. He knows he made mistakes, but he thinks he should still get in and forgiven. But, he knows he won't be for some reason he can't put his finger on. It's too late and he won't be Even if he says will (I'm assuming you're hearing it in the last chorus) then it's the same reasoning, he'll get in because it wasn't all his fault and he'll just be forgiven. Won't makes more sense, he can't explain because he feels he should get in, and he can't understand why he wouldn't be forgiven. If he says will then for some reason he can't understand he'll get in? It's wont. And you explained it to yourself, if you don't speak an honest word why would you get into heaven? The song is more about power in general, the thoughts behind it and everything it causes (corruption, revolution, etc.), religion plays into that, but its not the main focus of the song

Viva la Vida just has a great melody that I can't get out of my head, I do like all the others though, even a spell a rebel yell. It's really interesting and distinct

Is this guy freaking serious? Really, why even mention them in the same sentence as Coldplay (or any band of their stature) unless that sentence is... "Man I can't believe that guy from the Zutons thinks his band is any competitions for _____ (insert pretty much any band name that pops into your head)" The Zutons are the same old same old and bad at it. Nothing new, and no good melodies. Their music is too formulaic and doesn't show anything of interest to me, it's not thought provoking and their musicianship is mediocre at best. As for Mark Ronson, can't stand him. If he does a cover of one of the new coldplay songs I'll bet you anything it'll have trumpets in it, and suck. That radiohead cover was a POS! And the video?! Jesus christ!
