BBC Love to Hate Coldplay?
This made me laugh; clearly John Harris is after some attention. As they say in these parts, he doesn't know his a*s* from his elbow. Coldplay encourages debate, now that can't be a bad thing. What kind of lover of music is this John Harris? For example his description, “their lyrics tends to be stuffed with non sequitur of the worst home spun existential wisdom”, in your own words John, pardon? Given that moments before he muttered that bunch of clichés he was going on about Coldplay and over use of clichés, I have to say, he’s the only one I’d accuse of cliché storming and very badly at that. I’m not sure he’s said anything or proved any point other than the obvious; if we take a bunch of words and repeat them in a monotone voice they quickly lose their meaning and character. Take for example, Barcelona by Queen, lets repeat Barcelona…Barcelona….Barcelona….Barcelona.. Did that do anything for you? No me neither however now add in the phenomenal music the brilliant voice and we have a masterpiece! I’ve never regarded Coldplay’s work as highfaluting in the slightest. In fact I think John Harris is hugely pretentious and like many pretentious folk not really saying anything and hanging off the coattails of our contemporaries successes! Anyway that's just what I think :)

"Death fascinates us" - Short interview with Will Champion
Hey Larry Thanks for posting this. A good interview, I like Will Champion's style. Ah the good old garden fence, what happen to those days? Uh-oh, I've just got an image of Les Dawson & Roy Barraclough's, Cissie and Ada comedy sketch. The one with Cissie and Ada chatting over the garden wall. Sorry about that. Anyway, I never knew Chris Martin had adopted the title from Shakespeare nor that he has always given his words double names, I'd love to explore that a bit. Nice find, Larry!

Small Reminders/Updates on Coldplay.com (feat. Roadie #42!)
What a cool wee video. Did anyone else get a flashback to the TV show Mash, at the beginning of it? Probably the helicopter flying over mountains that did it. I like that song and Will's voice, would love to hear more of it. Thank you #42 for the blog, really great. How does that saying go? Erm... I'll dance at your wedding or something like that :)

Since they are in Japan...
I think it'd be fantastic, especially if they done a scenic vid. Have images of the film, Lost in Translation, the night scenes were pretty cool.

Viva La Vida music videos! (Videos in first post)
I liked both videos but for different reasons. The official video, in my opinion, is elegant. I loved opening with a red rose, to me symbolising love and ending with the band members dissolving into rose petals I took that to mean that Coldplay - or the message - is love. I asked my partner what he thought about it and he wasn’t impressed. He told me that they could have done a lot more with it, given that it’s such a fantastic song and wanted to see a story unfolding. I disagree, I’m happy Coldplay chose to take this route because it’s open to interpretation. (Although with the theme chosen I would have probably added and played with different parts, but that’s only because I really like what’s there to begin with.) With such a powerful song I think it’s dangerous to convey a particular message. It could lead to perhaps confusing fans or worse still insulting us unintentionally. I thought that it was visually appealing from beginning to end. Just as a side note, was anyone here a very inquisitive child? Ok Stupid question, like all children I asked millions of questions, church not being the exception. I didn’t get the Bible, but I loved my understanding of it. My priest was keen for me to develop my own understanding rather than giving a definitive answer. He told me religiously (sorry about that) that it’s open to interpretation which just fed into my already growing imagination. Anyway what I’m getting at is that I think similar with this video. I think it keeps the song personal to us and still remains open to interpretation. But that’s just my opinion. The cover version got a better reception from my partner. He loved it, laughing from beginning to end. I found it very funny too; I think Chris Martin is coming into his own as a performer. It’s pretty cool that they did both of them, I always feel like I’m getting more than my monies worth with Coldplay. It’s cool that Coldplay like to make us smile. :)

It's that bad I think you'll smile...Q: What's musical and handy in a supermarket? A: A Chopin Liszt.... Any good? OK i'll try another; Q: How many musicians does it take to change a light bulb? A: Twenty. 1 to hold the bulb, 2 to turn the ladder, and 17 to be on the guest list... I'll stop while I'm drowning here :) Thanks again Nikki, really cool of you :)
