  1. I can see it on an album with Will and guitar in between two songs by Chris (of which, one with piano and falsetto). The tension and contrast would work nice. They would enhance one another. In the same trend about country, Dylan, bluesy song, anyone an opinion on Kooks version of Violet Hill ?
  2. Will multi-instrumentist, multi- percussionist and now singing ! Hope he will singing one (maybe this one) on the next album :) They said it's already partly written... coming out end 2009 :o:drummer:
  3. Well I posted my reply on the wrong thread but I see you respond. So, in fact they tried so many new things on the album they also managed to get closer to progressive/electronic music with this trance like "song". Did you hear A spell a rebel yell ? Same thing. Strange dreamy treatment and still very Coldplay (beautiful lyrics too).
  4. Indeed I also believe it is a way of sharing alpha brain wave state with us. The lyrics may change as Chris feels in the shows if they do play it when they feel a trance. It may relate not only to us falling asleep on them, or to the hypnose session with Brian Eno, it may have to do with Chris sleeping pills thing (see Rolling Stone interview) or even with meditating in Yoga. It s a natural trance that you can get without "products". I am glad they did it. They have Jon Hopkins to do that kind of thing for them (perfect child of my youth electronic scape heroes like Klaus Schultz, Tangerine Dream or.. Brian Eno) and CSC is a Coldplay way of making a progressive track, the way I see it. I really like it as I really like everything they do. I was a fan before of well I'll spare you the list, but never in 30 years of music addiction have I been so enthralled by a band, what they do and who they are. (Well ok I may be the oldest coldplayer on this site.):smug:
  5. In the lyrics I hear sleep satisfies and sleep satisfied and also sleep crucified.. I think it coould be about so many of us listening to them last thing before sleeping .. finding yourself lying eyes wide open sometimes. Chris said in a interview that csc is the result of the session they did under hypnose.

  7. :) Yeah and also if you look at how early Michael Jackson stopped making music you can think how impossible it was for him to mature. In any case, I am not sure Chris actually likes MJ, it's more like he would take the songs apart to find out about the beats and the bits that are good in that music.
  8. Thanx, the Rolling Stone mag costs 8 euros here and I am in between 2 jobs at the moment. (Thank God for Viva la Vida coming out at the right time !) (and I did buy it ) Also I did not really want the whole mag cause the review of the album sucks (it's further down some pages after the interview). It is so superficial, I believe the critic did not have time to listen properly. Surely he would write something else if his deadline was now. Thanks a lot again for the scans, it is yet another ,very generous and funny, moving interview.
  9. Calculations Anyone hear about Patti Smith ever ? (check albums like Radio Ethiopia). Well she is something like 10 years older than me, maybe. In any case I'm 16 years older than Chris. So Lady Gwyneth is 11 years younger than I am  The thing is, I find they reach such a level musically now with VLV/DaAHF that it's impossible to ignore. I mean I can finally acknowledge being crazy about Coldplays' work without being blamed for liking 'cute' music (pff.. yes I know). They are not just a band of brilliant musicians and composers that do something lovely. The falsetto voice that I like, has been judged an ennnoying gimmick by some people who are into rock music for 30 years now. The treatment of the guitars was also like, not quite enough for being something more than easy- to -play- on- the- radio level. It's already enormous obviously. But really with the VLV album they are at the dawn of somethin never ever reached before. You watch. Let's enjoy for decades!

Thanks a lot, for Debs Wild email adress! I have just send out an email to her. Just to confirm to them that Viva the album is a monument. No way I can listen to it while doing something else like going to sleep. I will cherish their previous work always, and now I am glad they joined the most important rock artists with this new turn. I am so proud of them. Chris's hard work is paying. Maybe they ll write back some sweet word that would make my day. Then again I am happy enough just checkin Coldplay.com regularly.
