  1. If the news were not for everyone to know, the guys surely wouldn't have told you/anyone  They always have to live with the fact that something they say will end up somewhere ... :( Or even worse, will be taken out of context. So if it's real secret, intimate and familiar stuff, they wouldn't have mentioned it in the first place ... :) Then again, even if news were 'only' posted on the forum for fans to read, you can be pretty sure that people lurk here from time to time to find 'gossip'. Third way is to find it on Google. And if you enter 'Coldplay LP5 release' the first result is this very thread on Coldplaying.com ;) I find it somehow incredible funny that these news made it into several papers/online sources :) Sometimes I am convinced that the guys are spreading news to see where they end up or what the stories will be made into ;) :laugh3: Well, just my thoughts of course
  2. Congrats you two :) Amazing pics! Soooo very happy for you :D
  3. You just need good company to go with ;)
  4. Happy (belated) Birthday to you, Phil. Hope you had a lovely day! K.
  5. August 20, 2010 - submitted by Luis, Mexico Q. Olaa gran y poderoso Oraculo! Well maybe this is a stupid question but I can't remember when and where was the first show of the Viva la Vida tour so can you tell me? Thanks and sorry for my bad English. Atentamente Luis The Oracle replies: It's not a stupid question at all; it was a long time ago! Even though I know when and where it was, I still feel the need to account for the live shows preceding the tour. On June 13 2008 the band performed for friends & family at Wembley. This was followed by free/TV shows on 16th in Brixton, 17th Barcelona, 18th BBC Television Centre, 19th Paris and 23rd & 27th New York. The first live date of the tour proper was July 14th at The Forum, Los Angeles.
  6. August 20, 2010 - submitted by Levi, United States of America Q. Dear Oracle, Which do you think is better the original The Office from UK or The Office in America? Thanks, Levi The Oracle replies: I prefer the The Office U.K to The Office U.S however that's not to say one is necessarily better. Once the U.S version stepped out of the shadow already cast by the original and became a great show in its own right, I loved it!
  7. August 20, 2010 - submitted by Fredrika, Finland Q. Dear Oracle. I have a question. Can you stay happily married for the rest of your life? Is that a possibility? I am seventeen and my parents just had a divorce. I feel very confused right now, and I just want to know if it's even possible to stay with a person and love him/her for the rest of your life. The Oracle replies: Oh Fredrika I feel empathy for your pain. My parents divorced when I was young so what I say comes from a place not only of knowledge but of experience. It remains to be seen with our current generation and future ones whether people will stay happily married forever but there are plenty of couple who have managed that despite what life throws and many who get married thinking that they will stay together and maybe they will. Anything is a possibility so I will answer yes to your question even though you probably know I am quite cynical when it comes to marriage. Of course the odds are better if you wait 'til you're older before getting married. Sorry, only joking! I do think some people rush into it though or do it for the wrong reasons but honestly? I still believe that people can make it work if they truly love each other and respect one another. Right now you may not see how that's possible; when I look back after my parents split I remember saying that I would never get married; I didn't see the point. I have watched many marriages fail but that doesn't prove anything. Life can be tough and loving one person can be hard when there's so many pressures and stresses along the way. I guess it's all about finding the right person who shares the same values and beliefs plus mutual trust and support as well as a bucketload of compromise. Your parents divorcing may seem like the worst thing to ever happen to you right now but trust me, them staying unhappily together would be far worse for all of you in the long term. The only advice I can give you is... don't let anyone else's relationship taint the view of any you have.
  8. August 19, 2010 - submitted by Kathryn, United States of America Q. Does the band plan to still have the C stage on their next tour? The Oracle replies: Well you know me well enough to know that I couldn't and wouldn't reveal any future plans but what I will say is that the past couple of tours had a segment of the show set aside where the band would leave the main stage to perform for the audience further back. I can't imagine them not continuing to find a way to do this but it's not set in stone and of course if it was - I wouldn't say!
  9. August 19, 2010 - submitted by Dany, Italy Q. Is this true? The Oracle replies: Here are the facts: Coldplay signed to BMG Music Publishing in 1999. BMG were later bought out by Universal and so Coldplay automatically became part of that deal. Caroline Elleray who signed them to BMG is now Head of A&R at Universal and when the band's contract came up for renewal the boys renewed it. It's a very normal negotiation.
  10. August 19, 2010 - submitted by Suzanne, United Kingdom Q. Mighty Oracle, please give me some motivation to lose weight apart from: 1. It is highly healthy 2. I'll be much more beautiful 3. I might make Alex Turner fall in love with me and leave his stupendous Alexa Chung for this. I'm seriously down since I used to be so skinny and now that I'm a little depressed I gained kind of 6.700 lbs. I know there's more important things than this, but I'm really sad about it. HELP ME IF YOU CAN, I'M FEELING DOWN. The Oracle replies: Right Suzanne I am worried about you even though you're aware there are more important things... 6.7lbs is not even half a stone. What is it about girls and weight? That makes me really sad. Ignore airbrushed photographs of people who have access to personal trainers and dieticians. Your motivation should only be health; happiness does not necessarily follow weight loss. It's not always healthy to lose weight and can be dangerous. I don't know what you currently weigh or if it was quite recent when you were "so skinny" but if you want to lose weight because you are obese and want to get healthier fair enough. If however you are an ideal weight for your age, height and build - which sounds like "so skinny" + 6.7 lbs could be - then you do not need to lose any weight at all. It's natural to put it on as you get older by the way and I wouldn't imagine 6.7 lbs is going to make you less beautiful. Beauty is not relevant to size and sorry to burst your bubble but it ain't gonna make Alex Turner leave his girlfriend (who by the way I personally do not find attractive as she is too skinny for my taste).
  11. Luckily he didn't call his first born 'Peppermint Patty' .... ;) :P
  12. Me too ... :laugh3: I mean, don't get me wrong ... TDS's debut album is really, and I mean REALLY great but somehow I fear that too much praisals and comparison to other bands may only put even more pressure on the band. Okay, some bands just need that to get even better and such, but the higher you stand the deeper you can fall ... :\ And honestly ... you can't really compare TDS to Coldplay or the other way round
  13. Back then then forum was still disabled, you could register though but were not entitled to post yet. Since today, the forum is open for posting/replying. :)
  14. Well, honestly saying I don't really like MP3 downloads, I just do it, when I really can't wait for an album but usually I prefer the physical copy over any mp3-download, no matter if it's iTunes, Amazon-mp3 or any other provider. In fact I am approaching some troubles here as I slowly start wondering where to store all my bought CDs. I've got 5 racks already, each with a capacity of around 150 CDs each and they are to 4/5 full ... ;) My vinyls not even mentioned ... :laugh3: But back to the main topic. There's hardly any song on the album which I don't like, it just depends on the mood I'm currently in but right now I'm completely hooked by 'Pompeii'. Apart from that I just love 'This Oubliette', it's kinda my fave song over all :) 'What's The Question?' (the original single edit), 'You Are The Winter', 'WMNSOA' and 'Reverie' are close followers ... But as mentioned earlier, it's pretty hard to single out a song which is 'less' good. Just because ... there isn't one ;) And IMHO, with a little promo 'This Oubliette' (even though being a so-called b-side) would do pretty well over here on some radio stations as it's not to 'rocky' but has a wonderful melody & this kind of hymn-feeling attached to the song. You just catch yourself wanting to sing along to it at the top of your voice ;) *cough* speaking from my own experience here :laugh3: I just really hope that this album and the career itself will put TDS where they belong, somewhere amongst the big band of the 21st century ... :) Edit: Hmmm, maybe I should copy&paste the text above and post it to Amazon reviews ;) Did a review for Amazon Germany already, maybe that will encourage people to order it, though EUR 28,- there might scare most of the people off ;)
  15. I haven't listened to any other album since last week's monday. Always hear TDS when I drive to and from work. The album is absolutely amazing, brilliant ... I'm lost for words - HONESTLY!! I've read some reviews and someone said somewhere that they deserve to be HUGE. Completely agree with that :)
  16. August 13, 2010 - submitted by Lauren, United States of America Q. Dear Oracle, This has been driving me insane for the past week, and I was wondering if you could help me. I was watching an episode of Grey's Anatomy from season 2. The name of the episode is called As We Know It (espisode 17), and it involves a patient who has an unexploded bomb inside of him. At the very end of this episode there is a song, which is played, and I could have sworn that it was a Coldplay song. However, it wasn't familiar to me, and I searched and searched for that song, but could not find the name of it. I was wondering if you know what this song is called? Thank so much for even allowing me to ask you this question! BeSt WiShEs, Lauren The Oracle replies: That particular episode didn't feature any Coldplay songs but there were a lot of artists in this one... Here's a list of all the songs which should help you track down the one you loved: I Tell Myself by Correatown Homebird by Foy Vance Stay Where You Are Ambulance LTD Unlike Me by Kate Havnevik World Spins Madly On by The Weepies Breathe (2AM) by Anna Nalick Back In The Wild by Greenskeepers
  17. August 13, 2010 - submitted by Jacky, Australia Q. Who is the photographer that takes all the photos we see on the Roadie blogs? The Oracle replies: Roadie #42 takes his own photos for his blogs. Multi-talented isn't he?
  18. August 13, 2010 - submitted by Siobhain, Australia Q. Hi Oracle, Given that it's Friday the 13th I thought I'd ask if you were superstitious? The Oracle replies: I have to say that no, I am not superstitious at all. In fact, I walk under ladders and everything just to prove theories wrong
  19. Oh and you can also order it at Play.com :) http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/15751488/The-Domino-State-Uneasy-Lies-The-Crown/Product.html?cur=257
  20. Sorry for the delay in getting back, have been a little quiet around here ;) Yep, I ordered the album at the beginning of July, when the link was revealed and Rough Trade did an amazing job as I already received the physical copy this past monday :) I haven't stopped playing the album ever since and I can really recommend it. It's absolutely worth buying :) And no, I'm not from Berlin but from Hamburg. Had to drive to Berlin as I missed TDS in Hamburg at the beginning of March, as I was in Mexico to see a different band there *cough* at that time ... ;)
  21. Have an excellent birthday, Will! And all the best for the upcoming year :)
  22. As I know NOTHING about HP at all, I am clueless what this all means :laugh3: Never read a single book of it, just saw one film but it wasn't my cup of tea ... ;)
  23. Anyone noticed that you can now click on a FB-'I Like' button next to the person's name who asked the question? Cool
  24. July 20, 2010 - submitted by Indraja, United States of America Q. If the members of Coldplay were sorted into the houses at Hogwarts (from the Harry Potter series), which house would each member be in? The Oracle replies: I'm going to put them each into separate houses: Chris in Hufflepuff, Will in Gryffindor, Jonny in Ravenclaw and Guy in Slytherin. You can sort yourself if you like...
  25. July 20, 2010 - submitted by Eddie, United States of America Q. Dear Oracle, I need your help. I have a friend (who is a girl) and I like her and I told her so. A couple weeks later she finally told me that she doesn't feel the same way about me. I'm pretty upset now, but should I get over her and embrace our friendship? Or should I keep on trying to win her heart? Please help me oracle! The Oracle replies: I think you did the right thing by telling her even though you are rightly upset right now but it's not as easy as just deciding to get over her. That may take a while but in the meantime try and stay the same as you always have with her so the friendship doesn't become awkward now that she does know. Don't try to win her heart; if that's going to happen it just will. You never know in time her feelings may change but don't hold onto that thought just - as you say - embrace your friendship
