haha - it's not the band reputation actually. It's more that when I was told I'd get to see the music shoot and meet the band, it came with a caveat that I shouldn't speak too much about it in days to come. Now, I think it's fine if I discuss the what the song "sounds like" (and it's more than "few days") but let me just confirm with the person who took me there to be completely sure. Once, I get the green light - I can elaborate on song details. Also, while I was there I didn't hear any lyrics - I think mostly because it got drowned in the loud music while Chris pretended to sing! I can't wait to discuss the music video with you guys too!

Haha. I like pitchfork actually for discovering new music. I discovered arcade fire through them and generally their post rock artist section is good too - like NPR. Also, although I've discussed a bit of the music I heard during the shoot - I really wanted to discuss more of what I heard and I thought I'll be able to do it soonish but now because of the delay... I'll still put the release date of the song as late October (no hunch - just a guess - don't convert into a rumor and start expecting things)

Pitchfork is super hipsterish. People were hating on MX for pop sound when it came out, it would be mainstream to rate it low so they rated it high (my assumption). I think the album itself has grown a lot on me. I've noticed this that when Chris likes something/a song, I generally tend to not like it at first and then it grows on me. As for album ranking, I would say Viva La Vida > AROBTH > Parachutes = MX > Ghost Stories > X&Y (for me) On topic, I do think they are taking more time than usual for release of a shot music video which generally means they have gone to the drawing board. In terms of contract, is this is their last record with the record company?

Somehow I completely missed this in the Mylo Xyloto era. It's weirdly worrying that they went from 25% each to Chris getting 40% credit. I think it's reflected in their music after Viva. MX and Ghost Stories both have songs which I think wouldn't have passed “Will's seal of approval" if he had an equal say. Brian eno had worked perfectly with each band member to make Viva what it was. From there on, I think it has been others supporting Chris's ideas which can be reflected in their music. I personally don't like this development and I hope that the new record changes it.

I'm guessing you must have not heard the lyrics right? (There was no lyrics when I saw them record). When you say it's like Violet Hill, do you mean the drums? (Indian) because I couldn't hear the raw Jonny guitar that is there in Violet Hill. Yup, definitely not EDM - and were you able to hear the piano hook in the recording? (Cos that was good)

Like some other soundchecks, this can go unreleased too - I think that's the most likely situation. It doesn't sound like a single or anything that I feel they would want to show as “First glimpse of the album"

This is definitely not what they played in India. I still don't think they'll play a new song from A Head Full of Dreams at global citizen - either they won't play anything new at all or this is from Ghost Stories era

My guess is that they won't play a new song at a charity event

The logo thingy that Chris is wearing in Paradise was there at the music shoot too and color lining shirt. It seems that a subtle gear for the new album - also the color explosion on screen in Paradise. My guess is that the band wants to start introducing elements of new era but they won't drop the song yet - first the website will change. I'm guessing another 2 weeks at least before we hear anything new

The Hindi at the speaker says “Coldplay" and they have garland around the piano like in Indian tradition

Hey, they didn't make us sign anything. In terms of the song/album/shoot, I can't give out any details since that would hamper the band - they do monitor the forum. Trust me, I know how it feels waiting for a song to come out when you know it's out there (did the same exercise in Viva La Vida era). All I can say is think more "Paradise" and less "Viva La Vida". In terms of release date, I'm guessing (no one has talked to me about it - PURE guessing) that October (as the magazine mentioned) could be right. I noticed in one of the pictures (posted by someone), they had Ravan statue - something that we burn during a festival called Dusshera. Dusshera is slated for October 22nd so the release can be around that (again, a PURE FAN THEORY, no one has told me any of this).
