Meanwhile, Delhi police in India claim they have concrete evidence that proves collusion between Pakistani intelligence service ISI and the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in carrying out militant attacks in India. One of the alleged mastermind's of the liquid bomb plot, Rashid Rauf, is a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba. The ISI is a CIA front and the CIA have privately ignored their control of terror groups while publicly lauding Pakistan's status as an ally in the war on terror. On Monday night it emerged that elements of MI5 wanted the liquid bomb plot to proceed and make the arrests only after the attack had taken place - sacrificing an estimated 3,000 lives and ensuring Britain experienced its own 9/11.

The gentleman being "interrogated" had fled the UK after being wanted for questioning over the murder of his uncle some years ago. That might be felt to cast some doubt on his reliability. It might also be felt that factors other than political ones might be at play within these relationships. Much is also being made of large transfers of money outside the formal economy. Not in fact too unusual in the British Muslim community, but if this activity is criminal, there are many possibilities that have nothing to do with terrorism. We then have the extraordinary question of Bush and Blair discussing the possible arrests over the weekend. Why? I think the answer to that is plain. Both in desperate domestic political trouble, they longed for "Another 9/11". The intelligence from Pakistan, however dodgy, gave them a new 9/11 they could sell to the media. The media has bought, wholesale, all the rubbish they have been shovelled. We then have the appalling political propaganda of John Reid, Home Secretary, making a speech warning us all of the dreadful evil threatening us and complaining that "Some people don't get" the need to abandon all our traditional liberties. He then went on, according to his own propaganda machine, to stay up all night and minutely direct the arrests. There could be no clearer evidence that our Police are now just a political tool. Like all the best nasty regimes, the knock on the door came in the middle of the night, at 2.30am. Those arrested included a mother with a six week old baby. For those who don't know, it is worth introducing Reid. A hardened Stalinist with a long term reputation for personal violence, at Stirling Univeristy he was the Communist Party's "Enforcer", (in days when the Communist Party ran Stirling University Students' Union, which it should not be forgotten was a business with a very substantial cash turnover). Reid was sent to beat up those who deviated from the Party line. We will now never know if any of those arrested would have gone on to make a bomb or buy a plane ticket. Most of them do not fit the "Loner" profile you would expect - a tiny percentage of suicide bombers have happy marriages and young children. As they were all under surveillance, and certainly would have been on airport watch lists, there could have been little danger in letting them proceed closer to maturity - that is certainly what we would have done with the IRA. In all of this, the one thing of which I am certain is that the timing is deeply political. This is more propaganda than plot. Of the over one thousand British Muslims arrested under anti-terrorist legislation, only twelve per cent are ever charged with anything. That is simply harrassment of Muslims on an appalling scale. Of those charged, 80% are acquitted. Most of the very few - just over two per cent of arrests - who are convicted, are not convicted of anything to do terrorism, but of some minor offence the Police happened upon while trawling through the wreck of the lives they had shattered. Be sceptical. Be very, very sceptical.

The article in the New Yorker magazine relies on many anonymous sources and includes denials from US officials. It does not claim that the US put Israel up to attacking Hezbollah. Israel had planned its bombing in advance, Mr Hersh claims Seymour Hersh is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, whose past work includes exposing the Abu Ghraib prison scandal and Vietnam's My Lai massacre. 'Pre-emptive visit' Israel's "immediate security issues were reason enough to confront Hezbollah, regardless of what the Bush administration wanted," Mr Hersh cites "Israeli military and intelligence experts" as saying. But, Hersh says, Israeli officials visited Washington to secure US support for its plans before Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers on 12 July, the ostensible cause of the Israeli bombardment of Lebanon. "Israel began with [Vice-President Dick] Cheney. It wanted to be sure that it had his support and the support of ... the National Security Council," an unnamed US government consultant told Mr Hersh. With Mr Cheney's backing secured, "persuading [President] Bush was never a problem, and [secretary of State] Condi Rice was on board," the source added. Convergent interests Israel's plan for an air war to turn the Lebanese people against Hezbollah was "the mirror image of what the United States has been planning for Iran," the article quotes an unnamed former senior intelligence official as saying. The Israelis got Mr Cheney's backing first, the article says And different US government departments which do not always see eye-to-eye all had their own reasons for backing an Israeli assault on Hezbollah, Mr Hersh claims. The State Department reportedly saw it as "a way to strengthen the Lebanese government", which does not control the south of the country dominated by Hezbollah. The White House wanted Hezbollah's missiles eliminated so they could not be used as retaliation against Israel in case the US bombed Iran's nuclear facilities, Mr Hersh says. But both the Pentagon and the National Security Council deny that the US knew of Israel's plans in advance. Meanwhile, an Israeli embassy spokesman said Israel "did not plan the campaign" to attack Hezbollah, adding: "The decision was forced on us." Ward Carroll, a retired US Navy officer and editor Military.com, was sceptical of some of Mr Hersh's claims. Israel would not have relied on any American intelligence or support in its campaign, he told the BBC. "If the inference is that we are fundamentally interwoven [in the Israeli air campaign], that is a flawed thesis," Mr Carroll said. He did not doubt that there had been communication between the US and Israel, but suggested Mr Hersh was reading too much into it. "This would have been a courtesy brief [from Israel to the United States], and the Bush administration saying, 'We got the message.'"

However, there are contradictory opinions about the ultimate Pakistani intelligence objectives. At least seven people were arrested in connection with the plot in the cities of Lahore and Karachi last week. Officials claim they provided important information about the plot. British security officials have detained 24 people - most of Pakistani origin - over the apparent plan to attack planes flying from the United Kingdom to the United States. A senior Pakistani security official told Asia Times Online, "The real episode started after the earthquake in [Pakistan-administered] Kashmir in October 2005. Various Islamic charities were active to provide relief to the displaced Kashmiris. The US CIA [Central Intelligence Agency] and British MI6 [security Intelligence Service] contacted Pakistan and warned that under the cover of relief money, funds could possibly be transmitted to terror rings in Pakistan. "MI6, the CIA and a special Pakistani intelligence cell coordinated investigations on the fund transfers. During those investigations, many people were rounded up in Pakistan." This is where different opinions emerge, however. Pakistani officials have arrested Rashid Rauf (a British national) as a key suspect in the foiled terror plot and have accused him of being linked with al-Qaeda. Contacts with close knowledge of the arrested men - in the earlier swoops as well as in the wake of the foiled plot - claim that none of them had links with al-Qaeda. Rather, they claim, they were linked with al-Muhajiroun and Hizbut Tehrir. Hizbut Tehrir (Liberation Party) is a non-violent organization founded in the early 1950s in Jordan for the liberation of Palestine. Its ultimate aim is the revival of the caliphate, which it tries to bring about by toppling what it sees as corrupt Islamic governments. Pakistan has been particularly hard on the group, most of whose members are British-born Pakistanis sent to work in Pakistan. The most apparent reason is these youths want to stage a coup against the government of President General Pervez Musharraf and infiltrate institutions such as the army. Muhajiroun is a breakaway faction of Hizbut Tehrir. Most of its members are in the UK. Famous Egyptian scholar Omar al-Bakri was its leader. Muhajiroun was banned in the UK last year after its praise of the attacks on the London Underground. A contact from among the senior levels of the jihadist cadre told Asia Times Online, "Boys from organizations like al-Muhajiroun and Hizbut Tehrir come to Pakistan from the UK and have nothing to do with al-Qaeda. They are British-born Pakistanis and are interested in [fomenting] a coup in Pakistan. A few of them have been arrested in the past in Islamabad while distributing pamphlets, and then released. I can tell you with surety that the boys [recently] arrested in Pakistan have long been identified by the Pakistani establishment. "Their fate started when they interacted with a few officials of the Pakistani army. This they were very keen to penetrate to stage a coup, therefore they were close to a few army officers. They were delighted that they had penetrated into the army, but in fact Pakistani intelligence - coming from a strong military background - penetrated deep into them," said the jihadi. "Those youths, in their 20s and completely unaware of Pakistani society, were very thrilled with their success and even shared their views with people in Islamabad, saying that many officers had agreed to a coup. In fact, we warned them that military officials were only loyal to their job and they would not be committed to any revolutionary cause. "The youths from Muhajiroun did not agree, and continued to meet with intelligence operators, whom they thought were military officials of the Pakistan army," the jihadi said. "The closeness of the Pakistani intelligence with some boys with a Muhajiroun background was a known fact, but at what stage it turned out to be their 'London terror plot', we are completely in the dark. "However, I safely make a conjecture that those highly motivated boys were exploited by agents provocateurs. A religious Muslim youth in his early 20s is undoubtedly full of hatred against the US, and if somebody would guide them to carry out any attack on US interests, there would be a strong chance that they would go for that. "And I think this is exactly what happened. The government of Pakistan has been seriously trying to cleanse groups like Muhajiroun and Hizbut Tehrir from Pakistan, as well as from the UK. Both groups are fiercely anti-establishment and serious about staging a coup in Pakistan and were enhancing their influence among youths in cities like Lahore and Islamabad. So they were basically trapped," the jihadi said. It should be remembered that Hizbut Tehrir and Muhajiroun were banned in Pakistan after the September 11, 2001, attacks on the US and all police stations have strict instructions to arrest any person claiming to be the member of the groups. In the recent past, Pakistani authorities have been arresting members of both organizations under anti-terrorism laws. However, the courts have been releasing them on the basis of insufficient evidence.

Why they would need 80 mobile phones to trigger one bomb was a question never even asked. Houston, our tapes have gone missing Search is on for historic TV footage of mankind's first landing on the Moon Andrew Gumbel / London Independent | August 13 2006 Houston, we have a problem. There is probably no artefact in the history of space exploration more precious than the first television images of the Moon captured by Neil Armstrong and his fellow astronauts as they disembarked from their lunar module in July 1969. Unfortunately, the magnetic tapes of those images have gone missing. Worse still, they appear to have been missing for at least 30 years - and nobody, until now, even noticed. The man who devised the lunar camera for the mission, a retired Westinghouse engineer called Stan Lebar, is hoping the tapes can still be recovered somewhere from the bowels of Nasa, the US space agency, or from one of the companies to which Nasa has outsourced its archival storage. But, after a year of looking, he and a small band of old-timers in the space business have turned up precisely nothing. Their hope is to track the tapes down before they deteriorate so far as to be unreadable, then transfer them to digital format so they can be preserved for ever. "This is a once-in-the-history-of-mankind kind of thing," a markedly understated Mr Lebar said in a phone interview. "So it's important." The world is familiar with the fuzzy, grainy footage of the lunar landscape shown on television screens back in 1969, and repeated many times since. But that is not what the US astronauts shot - it was a low-quality reproduction achieved by pointing a television camera at the monitor beaming back the original images from the lunar mission to tracking stations in California and Australia. The high-quality originals were preserved on telemetry tape, but were never actually broadcast. Instead, they were sent from Nasa's Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland to the nearby US National Archives and Records Administration (Nara). Sometime in the mid-1970s, Goddard reclaimed the tapes, part of a hoard of more than 2,600 tapes that it wanted for "permanent retention". And then they vanished into the bureaucratic ether. Some similar tapes showed up in Australia a couple of years ago, but turned out to be test-run tapes for the Apollo 9 mission. That was when Mr Lebar and a colleague at Goddard, Dick Nefzger, decided they would launch a full-scale hunt for the more valuable tapes. First, they hunted through Nara, only to satisfy themselves after five months that the tapes weren't there. Now they are going through the list of retired former Nasa employees, by department, in the hope of finding someone who remembers where the tapes were sent, or even someone who can explain the bureaucratic protocols of the time so that they can make an educated guess. Last month, Mr Lebar and his friends issued a flyer appealing for help, but they have received no responses so far. "It's going to take a deep search," Mr Lebar said. Until now, they have kept the story out of the press because, they say, they do not want to embarrass Nasa. They insist it is wrong to characterise the tapes as "missing". "They're not missing," Mr Lebar said, "we just haven't found them."

Media reports in the days following the alert cite Pakistan's ISI as having identified Rashid Rauf as, "the link between the plot's planners and British-based Muslims who were allegedly preparing to carry out attacks on transatlantic flights." According to former NSA official Wayne Madsen, the Lashkar-e-Toiba terror group, to which Rashid Rauf is affiliated, is wholly operated and funded by the Pakistani ISI. The Pakistani ISI is a CIA front and controls terror cells at the discretion of the highest levels of the US military-industrial complex. This means that the potential mastermind of the liquid bomb plot, Rashid Rauf (pictured), was operating under the oversight and direction of Pakistani and by proxy American intelligence agencies. To understand why the Pakistan link strongly indicates that Thursday morning's terror alert was a manufactured ruse, it is necessary to understand the the nexus that connects Pakistani intelligence, the CIA and terrorist organizations. In October 2001, under the headline 'Pakistani Intelligence Had Links to Al Qaeda, U.S. Officials Say,' the New York Times reported, "The intelligence service of Pakistan, a crucial American ally in the war on terrorism, has had an indirect but longstanding relationship with Al Qaeda, turning a blind eye for years to the growing ties between Osama bin Laden and the Taliban, according to American officials." The ISI has received CIA funds to create and control militant organizations, including the Taliban and Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan. Funds transferred from Pakistan bankrolled the alleged 9/11 hijackers before the attack. Ahmad Umar Sheikh wired $100,000 from Karachi to alleged lead hijacker Mohammed Atta at the behest of ISI chief Mahmoud Ahmad. If this isn't a direct link from the ISI to Al-Qaeda then nothing is. Porter Goss, later appointed as director of the CIA, was having breakfast with the money man behind the terrorists as the planes crashed on the morning of 9/11. Ahmad had also met with top defense and intelligence officials in Washington in the days before the attack, including then CIA director George Tenet, Pentagon officials, and White House personnel. The fact that the Pakistani financier of the alleged hijackers was meeting with the top brass of the US government in the week before the attack was never investigated by the 9/11 Commission. In addition, alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammed was repeatedly protected by the ISI, according to Josef Bodansky, the director of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare. Defense Intelligence Agency documents dated from 2001 clearly indicate that the CIA is aware that Pakistan's ISI supports and bankrolls Al-Qaeda groups but they have deliberately chosen to ignore the connection. This rich history of ISI creation and protection of terrorist cells, allied with the fact that the ISI is a known CIA front, and added to the revelation that the mastermind of the liquid bomb plot Rashid Rauf is under ISI control, it is therefore obvious to conclude that the entire charade was cooked and orchestrated by elements of the Bush/Blair cabal and sold as promotional propaganda for the increased surveillance and behavioral control of UK and US citizens. At the very least, the terror cell had been fully infiltrated for months - this has already been admitted - and the snap "foiling" of the attack was coordinated and stage-managed for purposes of political grandstanding on the part of Bush, Blair and the Neo-Fascist apparatus that seeks to use the ailing justification of the war on terror for a future military incursion into Iran. Another dimension to the indication that we are being fed another hoax, are reports detailing the alleged plot's links to the 7/7 London bombings. As this website has exhaustively documented for over a year, the 7/7 bombings and the patsies that were used to take the fall for them, were controlled and engineered by the British intelligence apparatus. The alleged ringleader of the attack which targeted three tube trains and one bus, Mohammed Siddique Khan, was an MI5 informant, according to former London Metropolitan Police detective and terror expert Charles Shoebridge. Therefore, in the case of the liquid bomb plot suspects, any link to the London bombers is a link to MI5. It is clear that the scope of the attack has been greatly exaggerated by the British government to maximize fear and subservience engendered by images of alarmed and frightened airliner passengers. Doomsday proclamations of ten planes exploding into balls of flames in mid-air do not correlate with the capacity of the liquid explosives the alleged terrorists were to use. The only other example where terrorists used liquid explosives was the December 1994 Philippines Airline Boeing 747 incident, a dry run for a bigger plot conducted by Ramzi Youssef. In this case, Youssef planted the explosives explosives under one of the seats in the airliner and timed them to detonate after he disembarked for a connecting flight. The subsequent explosion killed only the Japanese businessman who was sitting directly above the bomb. Besides five people with minor injuries, the other 200-plus passengers were unharmed and the plane landed safely. Only liquid explosives in large and noticeable amounts can have any literal chance of "blowing up" a plane in mid-air. Confiscating pregnant white women's lip gloss is completely insane and proves in itself that the new airport measures are purely designed to act as a PR coup for the police state. In addition, photographs of passengers being ordered to pour liquids into one single container completely belies the claim that the alleged terrorists planned to mix the liquids to create the deadly explosives. If mixing liquids was a key component of the bomb making process then why are airport security ordering people to mix liquids? World Affairs Brief editor Joel Skousen highlights prescient questions about the inconsistencies of the properties of the alleged liquid explosives in relation to the much vaunted scale of the foiled attack. "The supposed explosive device this time was a Peroxide-based explosive, which is mildly explosive and can be prepared from acetone, hydrogen Peroxide, and an acid catalyst. This type is claimed by governments to be "widely in use by terrorist groups," though we have no known terrorist events where it has been used, except by one Palestinian terrorist, and then as a detonator only-not as the main charge. This explosive material is usually known by its abbreviation TATP (Tri Acetone Tri Peroxide)," writes Skousen. "Both Peroxide and Acetone are clear liquids, but acetone (laquer thinner) is easily identifiable by smell and its high rate of evaporation. Experts indicate it is very unstable and highly unlikely to be a stand-alone explosive to take down an airliner. The quantities would have to be large enough to be easily noticed. Thus, even though this is a theoretical threat, banning all cosmetics and lotions is stupid and banning all liquids is unnecessary. Only clear liquids need checking. There is cheap test equipment for TATP, and simple ways for TSA employees to quickly check for acetone and peroxide." Returning to how the latest plot is a mirror image of Operation Bojinka - the Ramzi Youssef link is also telling because Youssef has been protected and coddled by the US government at every juncture. In September of 1992 Youssef entered the US with Ahmad Ajaj. Ajaj's luggage contained documents on how to make bombs and was stuffed with fake passports and ID's. Ajaj was arrested - amazingly Youssef was released. Youssef later masterminded the WTC '93 bombing with the gracious help of FBI agents. Having penetrated the group before the bombing, the FBI's mole, Emad Salem, was told to arm the terror cell with dummy explosives so a sting operation could ensnare the perpetrators. Salem was mystified when the orders changed, the sting was called off and the FBI allowed the bombing to go forward. This was all admitted in an October 1993 New York Times front page story. Again, any Operation Bojinka or Ramzi Youssef link in the case of the liquid bomb plot is a link back to western intelligence agencies. Within three days of its exposure, Tony Blair and MI5 are already milking the alleged plot for political purposes in re-introducing the argument for 90-day detention without charge legislation. Blair suffered his only defeat to date in the Commons last November when the bill was shot down by Labour rebels - a humiliating rejection of the so-called 'liberal' government's feverish bloodlust for authoritarian control. Reports of criminal insider trading on airline stocks before the announcement of the alleged foiled plot, specifically British Airways stocks, have also started to filter in and will be the subject of a follow-up investigation.

Peak Oil and Gas, increasing shortage, is making itself felt in earnest with the disruptions of US oil supplies from Prudhoe Bay, crisis reports from remaining oil fields (Saudi Arabia), defiance from Venezuela, etc. Desperation fuels the likelihood of increasing brute force and violence, led by the Bush administration. Right.....I know it's hard to think about how evil the Government is but you can read their own documents which say that they wanted to carry out fake terrorist attacks - here, actually read this - the Northwoods Document (PDF) which was written to divise ways to take military action against Cuba. Please read it.......it's not that long and it shows you how sly and sick the Government was back then! They are up so many new "evil" levels now that's it's frightening. Also what you were saying about the invasion of Iraq...... 9/11 was used to achieve many gains by the US government including control of the people and their freedoms......but the first big public announcement was that Bin Laden and all these hi-jackers carried it out and then there was an attack on Afghanistan. This was a big attack which disabled the government opposition in Afghanistan to an oil pipeline that was trying to be built through their country. Afterwards pipeline was then built. There were also many other things gained by attacking Afghanistan but I'm sure I've mentioned them lots of times before.... Ok, now Iraq...... Iraq was said to have links to Afghanistan and Al-Qaeda which was one on the reasons to go to war...which was then admitted not to be the case. The other big reason was the supposed WMD that were there....also later found out to be a massive lie. You see, 9/11 was used to create a 'fear' mindset within many of the American people and also around the world. This enabled the government to announce the "War On Terror" which ironically was all their own doing. I think it works like this... The british intelligence agencies tip off other countries' intel. departments with the names and locations of predetermined "patsy's" who have been set up in the exact same way as the ones arrested in the UK and the US. There's normally a leader of these groups and the in the past they have all been linked/working for either MI5 or the CIA/FBI or other foreign intel agencies. All these recent (during the last year) 'terror arrests' have turned out to be fake ones and the people have been let go. And I believe this one to be a large scale set-up which really is going to allow for some major changes to the way we (throughout the world) are policed and controlled......having said that.....I think this current fake terror plot isn't quite enough to get the backing for more war and another major 'terror' attack will be needed for that. The fact that Bush's approval ratings have risen since this "folied plot" gives the indication to the Government that when it creates such an attack there will be enough support gained from it to declare Martial Law. However this 'foiled' plot will also create public empathy with the police services, which on a whole are filled with good people who actually do want to help people - thus, helping the governments achieve a better public status (like with Bush's rating jump) which will allow for another staged 'terror' attack to initially be seen by many as 'the one that slipped through the net' - because the general public are made all so aware of the fantastic work that has been done to 'pevent' the faked plots of the recent past that there's no way that they won't blame whoever is said to be behind the future mega attack that will mean the start of something absolutely massive.

It has been proven over and over that these measures will not help prevent terrorism, the government itself has even admitted this, so why do they relentlessly push them? The latest mind bending terror stupidity has every passenger at airports pouring their potentially explosive liquids into bins inside the airports. How stupid can things get? How far does it have to go before people start asking simple questions about what they are being made to do in the name of security? If these liquids are potentially explosive what the hell is the good in pouring them all into large bins inside overcrowded airports and mixing them all together? "On the one side, I’m fine with the safety measures and the effects, but on the other hand, I had to pour out my baby’s milk this morning. They said I couldn't take it on board." And here she is pouring the potentially deadly milk into a vat of other potentially explosive dangerous liquids. The official counterterrorism statement told us that the plan involved mixing a sports drink with a gel-like substance to concoct explosives that could be ignited with an MP3 player or cell phone. The sports drink could be combined with a peroxide-based paste to form a potent explosive cocktail, counterterrorism officials said. If you believe the dodgy science that suggests that these liquids can be ignited by calling up your mom or whacking on a bit of Led Zeppelin on your MP3 player then they better clear the airports pretty smartish because those bins full liquids could go up any second. unless they are just bins full of baby milk and Dr Pepper that is. The Scientific American states: Furthermore, some chemicals can be mixed to create a toxic gas capable of killing people in an enclosed space such as an airplane. Great, marvelous, lets get mixing them in bins then! The XOPL blogger here is bang on the money and I couldn't put it any better: Sir, I'm going to have to take this bottle of water away from you since it might be a liquid explosive, and I'm going to have to mix it with all of these other bottles of possibly liquid explosive, and I'm going to have to dump them all in this trash can... together. Nevermind that the plot specifically mentions mixing chemicals and/or nitroglycerin... which explodes if handled too roughly. The only conclusion you can reach here is that airport security are not looking for terrorists because if they truly believed terrorists were attempting to board planes with liquids they wouldn't be mishandling the liquids in this way.
