New Coldplay eh?
Actually, what's lame is the fact that you would single me out on something I said in a conversation that didn't even involve you. Quit being such a troll. True.

The Muse Thread - Hate This & I'll Hate You
But we do talk about Muse. It's just not really about music right now. Actually, I haven't taken a legit listen to Death Cab. I've heard a lot about them, though.

Can we please leave Coldplay discussion out of this thread? It's gone rampant everywhere else, and I'd like this thread to remain untainted from such things.

Oddly enough, the vocals were something that annoyed me about "Christmas Lights," too. That, and the random time and tempo change in the second half that doesn't quite work with the first half.

New Coldplay eh?
Yeah, but they kinda lose their charm after using them so many times. It kinda does that here, especially with the added "WOOOOO"s at the end.

OK, now that I've listened to this song twice, I can make a proper assessment. It's a grower, that's for sure. I liked it better after hearing it the second time. I rather love the guitar bits. With that being said, however, I'm quite annoyed with Chris Martin's vocals. The balance is off, the beginning is a bit repetetive, and the "WHOA"s and the waterfall bit at the end are annoying. I don't get it.

Ehhh, perhaps. At any rate, its current title is the worst. Ummm...good for you, then? LOLWUT. Lead singles aren't "supposed" to be anything. That's ludicrous. Even if it was, you make an excellent point with "Shiver." Of course it wasn't; its sound is too dark.

I would, if it weren't for the fact that A. dial-up Internet really doesn't work with torrents, and B. this is the family computer, and I'd rather not acquire any viruses because I used it.

^^^ Well see, now that you're actually TRYING to be creepy this time, it kinda just failed.

Multi-quote time! Of course it's towards you. Who else would it be directed towards? Only people who are defensive use that as an excuse. Thank you once again for proving me right. While I'm thinking about it..."dead at u?" Haha, what is that even supposed to mean? It makes no grammatical sense in English. I normally am not so brash about pointing stuff out like that, but as this was an attempt to insult me (which, by the way, was piss poor and failed horribly), I thought I'd make an exception. :nice:   Yeah, I agree. "Teardrops" sounds a LOT better. I disagree with that, but OK. It's clear that you don't know that the idea of good music is completely subjective. I approve of this post. That's a lovely way to think about it. Mhm. I love "Violet Hill" to pieces. That sounds creepy. :uhoh: I hate that word.

I just read about this a few minutes ago. I'm excited! It's kinda lame that you can only pick and choose, though. I'd like to hear them all... :(

I'm saying you're not handling it. You wouldn't twist what we're saying as heinously as you are if you could. The way you are reacting clearly indicates that you are offended to some extent. No, that's not an opinion. It's fact. We are critiquing lyrics. That is criticism. I don't see why you're insisting this is a matter of opinion. ...Wait, what? You can't be serious. We've allowed you to say what you want this whole time. No one has stopped you. I have no problem with what you're saying, and I've responded accordingly. I don't see how anything I've said/done has hindered you from saying/doing what you want, particularly given we aren't even in the same location. You're being defensive again, and there's no reason for you to be. It's not like any of us have made a personal attack towards you. And with that, I'm going to bed. It's nearing midnight here, and I have to get up early. Good night.

Criticism isn't about being positive. If it was, it wouldn't be a critique, and people wouldn't know how to improve things. I'm sorry that you can't get past the fact that people are talking about what they think is wrong with the lyrics as opposed to what they like. That's not our problem. If you can't handle it, then you don't have to be here. You say you don't care, but clearly you do, because you make a point to talk about what we're doing constantly. You are being rather irrational, honestly.

Adele
You know, you're probably right.

New Coldplay eh?
OK. We're talking about a song. Yes, there are people who highly dislike the ideas being put forth on this single. However, there's a huge difference between hating lyrics and hating a song, and there's an even bigger difference between hating a song and hating a band. They aren't the same thing. Sadly, people like you don't seem to grasp this concept. While we're on the topic of differences, let's talk about the difference between hatred and criticism. Here are the definitions of both words, courtesy of Dictionary.com. hatred-the feeling of one who hates; intense dislike or extreme aversion or hostility criticism-1. the act of passing judgment as to the merits of anything 2. the act of passing severe judgment; censure; faultfinding 3. the act or art of analyzing and evaluating or judging the quality of a literary or artistic work, musical performance, art exhibit, dramatic production, etc. After reading those, it should be obvious that we are partaking in the act of criticism, not hatred. Look at the third definition of criticism. That happens to be exactly what we're doing. Your theory about this not being about criticism has just been quashed.

Nono, Alexa, it's not that you can't express your opinion; it's merely that your opinion is wrong and filled with hate.
-
New Coldplay eh?
Yeah, because Urban Dictionary is TOTALLY a reliable source of information. :|

New Coldplay eh?
Might as well flame me, too. Is there criticism? Yes, and there's nothing wrong with that. Is there bashing? Hardly. ...Weeeeell. Maybe a little, depending on interpretation. However, it's not as if people insulted the band, their families, or you guys, so I really don't see why you guys are making such a big deal.

Adele
God, Paul was even worse. I couldn't ever forgive him after his terrible cover of "Folsom Prison Blues." I don't even listen to Johnny Cash all that much, and I was still like, "What. The. Hell. D:" Naw, man. There were a couple of people who sang that song on "The Voice," and I was horrified. There was this one girl in particular named Vicci who I thought just murdered it and spat on its corpse. Oddly enough, while I love Adele and Amy, I don't feel that way about Duffy. I'm not sure why.
