Just saw Friendly Fires in DC last week and they were great! I am only just getting to know their music, and was so impressed with their performance. After the gig, my friends and I went to Uncapped Live (a popup club venue) for the drummer's DJ gig. He was awesome and it was such a fun night :) Can't wait to hear about their upcoming shows, be sure to post here how they were!

Haven't been here in ages :shocked2: Sorry about that! I can understand people being disappointed that the guys are not playing closer to them, but the fact is that this is an amazing oppportunity for them. When I read that press release I was so happy for them - how many bands do you think could play within this context and do it any kind of justice? The venue and occasion is absolutely perfect. And for sure there could be other opportunities that make sense for them in other places, but they don't seem to want to take that cube everywhere and just play to play. The context is extremely important to them IMO. Maybe the right context would come up again, say at MIT or somewhere in New York or...? Yes, I am dreaming :D

Absolutely agreed. Besides, every band - even one made up of famous people from other bands - has to build up their own reputation. If they want to be known as an amazing live performance band, they have to start somewhere, and hopefully it starts tonight and only gets better from there. Crossing fingers all goes well, they should be on stage now in fact!
