  1. he name drops a few other artists/bands too in his songs. for anyone who missed out on it, here's his Thank You EP that he put online to grab for free for a short time following the launch & success of his debut album recently. love it when artists/bands do stuff like this. :) i'm loving this song of his right now... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVX3VgGjdmo]Ed Sheeran - Firefly[/ame]
  2. quite an interesting watch. & i like the programming schedule that was done such that the highlights of U2's Glasto debut was shown right after the docu. nice continuity. any idea if this will/is available on DVD? or do i need to resort to alternative means to get a copy?
  3. *lol* that might just be true! he did the breathing sound pretty well... :laugh3:
  4. he's probably too busy with Gary to care about poor Pablo...& he probably thinks Pablo should've been fine with a lightsaber. :P & Vader's probably holding Pablo hostage cos Gary must've managed to nick the Star Wars Complete Saga BluRay discs off C3P0 on Soccer AM. or he might be insulted by Gary & Tom's Dundonian impersonation on the show..
  5. hmmm...ok. fair enough. it's a slow song that builds up towards the end like Crack The Shutters, i guess. but to me, i don't think it's another Crack The Shutters in a sense that the song's "story" is very different to the outright love song that is Crack The Shutters. this one is about love, but in a sad sense. he's singing about a person's a unrequited/lost love and/or a broken heart who's retreated from the world & the people around them & is going into self destruct because of the heart break. that's how i personally interpreted This Isn't Everything You Are anyway... Yiiiiiiiing!!! i love you deep deep. again. hahahahaha :D album aside, the Force is still strong with the SP lads... (well........maybe not *that* strong, since poor Pablo's obviously in a spot of trouble with Vader here... :dozey: ) & for anyone who hasn't seen this......... *still trying VERY hard not too grin like an idiot at nobody in particular since seeing it this morning* :wacky: :wacky: :wacky:
  6. here you go...tho it's just the snowflakes falling/filling the screen & the audio for This Isn't Everything You Are (btw, i've been unable to rip it to mp3, so if anyone is able to...mucho appreciated! :) )
  7. only slightly for 2 or 3 notes, imo. not very similar to me as i've played that COITD riff on the guitar. why do you say that the song is "redundant"? agreed! when they played it at the Shepherd's Bush gig, it's still completely new so nobody knows the song yet. think by the time they go on the Fallen Empires tour proper this'll be one of the crowd singalong faves. it's definitely been growing on me the more i hear it. SP.com's posted a YT link of the studio version... :) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEN9hmpWFDE]Snow Patrol - This Isn't Everything You Are (audio)[/ame]
  8. so that's why they've been playing it at practically every live show since Shepherd's Bush... :P (ok, they haven't really been playing *that* many live shows since)
  9. they're playing Velociraptor! now on Jools...
  10. high time for a bump for this band, methinks... anyway, here's 3 videos including Scottish Winds (well, 2 at the moment...1 more coming soon pending vanquishing of technical difficulties) Sleepover Show #74: Frightened Rabbit love seeing these guys live...have since seen them twice in London & once in Bristol in different settings/environments & they've been great all 3 times! :) & Scott draws really well! got his drawing of "The Iceman" on a Guardian G2 supplement/pullout at their Shepherd's Bush gig last winter. talented.
  11. ^^ this!!! :D it's been the other way round for me...Fallen Empires was the standout track for me even from the 30sec snippet on Amazon UK. hearing it in its full glory (& with the volume up loud :P) just cemented it for me. with This Isn't everything You Are, it's been growing on me bit by bit. tho it did take re-listening it in a clearer/cleaner, less noisy context on the Jools Holland show for it to really sink in with me. think what's really grabbed me is the lyrics to the song...Gary's hit it home again with me & it's struck a chord in my life. pretty sure that's why it's been growing on me lately. COITD i view as both SP's attempt at being a bit more poppy & in tune with the current trend to include elements of electronica in songs...so kinda like a Just Say Yes Part 2. & i think they pulled off the attempt to introduce a different sound much better tha CP.
  12. probably. but i was thinking it might've been that the audio settings were off (despite the soundcheck earlier) for that song. the other bands, artists & SP's own 2nd number sounded much better. & i noticed there seemed to be some mic issues intermittently. anyway, here's an Absolute Radio podcast i fished out of iTunes...which i didn't realise was even there (assumed it was a recording of that real short interview Gary did when they 1st played COITD)...so, here you lot go: a nice long phone chat with details about the album, life, music, U2, Barry's Tea, etc. :) EDIT: oh, wait! it IS that interview...but in its full unedited glory! :D
  13. hmmm...i'm quite liking CrowdSurge so far, actually. i bought tickets for Ash before the SP London gig at The Empire, so i luckily didn't have to register...but in my excitement then, i'd forgotten my password! d'oh! in comparison, for the Q Awards gig, i ended up missing out on tickets as the pre-sale site (Aloud.com) was totally not working for me & the only number given for help was Seetickets who told me they just flat out couldn't help me. then on general sale day, tickets sold out in minutes only to show up within the day on reseller sites (even got a Seatwave emailer in the evening telling me those tickets were available!) ...for Children In Need it was even faster. got the Seatwave emailer within 30mins of tickets going on sale to inform me tickets were available on the site. anyway, ticketing issues rant aside, SP opened the Jools Holland show with COITD...which was rather poor, imo. didn't really carry thru well over the telly. other song played tonight was This Isn't Everything You Are...which sounded much better & it was great to hear it played w/o the distractions of screaming fans. ;) think right now my fave tracks on Fallen Empires would be 1) Fallen Empires 2) The Weight Of Love 3) This Isn't Everything You Are :)
  14. saw this tweet today from Teenage Cancer Trust, but anyway...it's a chance to get the new album at 20% off & donate to charity (from what i understand about this fairsharemusic site). Kasabian's back catalogue's available at £5 only also. :) hmmm...that code didn't seem to work for me, but anyway, you get 20% off if you pay with PayPal. so Velociraptor! cost me just £4. score.
  15. either wait for it to show up on YouTube, or if you're comfortable/confident enough with techy stuff, look for a free UK proxy host to get access to the BBC iPlayer online. great that you didn't have any trouble getting tickets...it'll definitely be an awesome time! :D btw, was it via CrowdSurge again? i got my code today, but i'll be saving it for when the London date is announced. *fingers & toes all crossed*
  16. me mucking around with my iPad to make a SP music video (sort of) featuring the planet A Hundred Million Suns in the Snow Patrol galaxy...& my reflection. i apologise for that & the sight of my face spoiling the otherwise beautiful visuals. :P [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZQ4ySFsu1A]Planetary / The Planets Bend Between Us[/ame]
  17. i hope so too...even tho i'm in London. i can't possibly be taking days off for queuing at gigs! not that i've done that, tho i did try to for the Shepherd's Bush gig (& failed miserably...darn project deadlines  ). :inquisitive: that's great! welcome to the TTB.com world! :D ...tho tbh, i only really go in there & lurk around. & do it more often when there's a gig happening soon.
  18. i haven't watched the Biffy DVD since the screening either. :shame: anyway, i think that Deluxe CD/DVD should be available elsewhere eventually. the only one that was marked as a "Web Store Exclusive" is the double gatefold vinyl.
  19. errr...if you're posting this statement in the Snow Patrol thread, then it's highly likely. :dozey: ouch. ;p saw the tracklisting already on SP.com, but it's great to see that the title track IS in the album. case closed. :D me too! pre-order done (& dibs on pre-sale for UK tour when it's announced/on sale! you ARE coming to London next year, right? :D) & love the artwork! so there *was* a reason for that awesome soaring eagle at the foyer's staircase at the "fallen Empire" last Monday night (sorry, couldn't resist... :P) awesomes! good luck getting your ticket(s)! :)
  20. AFAIK = as far as i know (i.e. me being lazy to type ;) ) can't wait for November & when they start touring next year!
  21. ^^ don't think you're the only one who forgot they have a pub in NYC. Gary seems to have forgotten too! :laugh2: DJ: "who's looking after the pub?" gL: "ah heh...the pub...where...?" can just imagine the look on his face when he was asked that! think the poor bartenders at that pub are going to have to put up with a lot of ppl ignoring them for Gary whenever he might be there now...haha think the album's on track for a early Nov release AFAIK...but still no confirmed date. :disappointed:
  22. here you go... click here...you know you want to... :sneaky: anyway, i think i need to make a trip to that Houndstooth pub one day when the lads are around in New York! apparently Gary's been behind the bar pulling pints of beer for ppl depending on how drunk he is... but overall, i felt this interview gave a bit more insight into the album than the super short ones on TV/radio i've managed to tune into. & Soccer AM was more about football than the album, tbh...the hosts referred to Called Out In The Dark as Calling Out In The Dark  (1st BBC, now Sky Sports...oh, dear. journalism fail! :P) & i think at some point soon Gary's bound to start getting tired of answering a question about his writer's block at every single interview. i know i would. :dozey:
  23. i may be mistaken, but i think that reviewer might have been referring to Fallen Empires the album & not Fallen Empires the track. personally don't think Fallen Empires the track sounds very U2-like aside from the fact that Jonny plays the bongo drum in it (i.e. I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight live). anyway, happen to hear Geoff Lloyd announce on the Hometime Show that Gary's going to be his show guest tomorrow (13 Sep) after 7PM (UK time) on Absolute Radio.
  24. no worries, Anna! btw, the Soccer AM stuff (SP's little bit anyway...would like to see the whole show tho. heard Gary & Tom arrived fashionably late! haha) is up on the Sky Sports website! Sky Sports | Shows | Soccer AM oh & i think nobody's posted this so far, but here's a special treat we got on Monday night: If I'd Found The Right Words To Say played live for the very first time ever! & it's a beauty! :wacky: i liked the song before, but after Monday, i think i like it even more...specifically played as an acoustic song as they did here. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWUjFU8eVWQ]Snow Patrol - If I'd Found The Right Words To Say - Shepherds Bush Empire 05/09/2011 [/ame]
  25. awww....thanks for the offer anyway, Anna! but i'm hoping what you said is the case (it usually is, anyway). press review of Monday night that was posted on TTB which describes the new songs a bit, incl. The Garden Rules. comes complete with cheesy caption "Here We Snow"... speaking of The Garden Rules, here's a video of it... :) agreed. but well, like i said, i'm pretty confused about whether it is going to be on the album or not. i haven't heard an interview where Gary specifically says it won't be on it, but then i don't listen to every single SP interview. think it'd be a shame for it to be left out, unless it really doesn't fit in with the other songs in the album. as for TTB, i've heard about that approval thing from others. i can't remember if i had to be approved first. but i registered ages ago when they first set up that forum after the problems with the SP.com forum & Sam (the founder of TTB) knew who i am online anyway. thought it might've been recently imposed as one of the Eskimos from SP.com posted the link for Monday's gig in there & specifically asked that it not be re-posted elsewhere so checks were needed. anyway, just my guess about why pre-approval's needed. shouldn't have taken so long tho...did you try contacting the mods?
