  1. actually, i'm really getting confused about whether Fallen Empires will indeed be in the album itself. some of us were talking about this after the gig on Monday. the ppl on TTB's forums are quite sure it won't be on the album as (apparently) Gary's said so in a number of interviews that it won't be despite being the title track. My Brothers is not likely to be on the album as it was written for a movie a while back already by now. given what i've said above, surely you can listen to Fallen Empires at least? i recommend the BBC Maida Vale session version :wink3: ...you hear quite a bit of Nate there. because it is frigging awesome as a live track... (& yes, i do remember that you don't like it... :sneaky: ) i want to get a physical copy of it, actually. but i've been told that it's definitely a digital only EP still. & i want to see them again already! *sigh* but i couldn't get a ticket for their Q Awards gig at the end of Oct. gutted. :( ...& incredibly annoyed. as i was doing website testing most of the week & misbehaving websites (i.e. practically every single online ticketing site!) was the last thing i wanted to have to encounter. :bigcry: anyway, i'll get over it... *sigh* btw if anyone at all could record Soccer AM tomorrow & put it up on YouTube, i will be incredibly indebted to you for like forever!!! :D Gary & Tom will be on it, but i can't watch it as i'm putting playing football ahead of SP (sorry lads, i've loved football longer than your band...tho it IS ironic given the show they're gonna be on). & i can't record it either as my TV box has no recording function. :(
  2. for £18, that t-shirt had better be great! & it had better have gone towards paying for the venue hire/deco. :P but price aside, i really like what's printed on the back. ;) this! (re: The Weight Of Love) :) tho i kinda feel that the recordings kind of lose a bit of how good the songs were live, aside from Those Distant Bells, due to the bass distortion & drums overpowering the humble cameras' mics. but can't be helped...not like they were recorded with proper/pro video cams anyway. really hoping the recording they were doing that night makes it either as a deluxe edition extras or available online (i.e. the Tired Pony London gig) if not a proper live DVD.
  3. here's my photos from the night... :) last 2 pix are of the event's t-shirt (i.e. the bloody expensive t-shirt :P)...1st one with the wristband is of the back & the other's of the front. Called Out In The Dark To The Shepherd's Bush Fallen Empire (sorry, can't figure out how to put it in here as a slideshow preview :shame: ) & here's a couple of videos from their Maida Vale sessions (fyi, Zane Lowe snuck in an extra treat today during his show: the recording of Fallen Empires from this session! ...happened to turn on the radio when i got back from work at just the right time! :stunned: ) Called Out In The Dark Fallen Empires ...bloody hell, it's an awesome live track! totally epic! :D
  4. tbh, i agree with you. & Aurelie. way more likely that footage will end up on the album's deluxe edition. guess we can keep hoping a more current live DVD gets made...:\ Open Your Eyes live was amazing! i loved the part in the song where it builds up to the "big" crescendo towards the end & at full on epic volumic proportions that a live performance has! :) my 1st SP gig was actually on the Reworked tour. so it's great to finally get to see them in their usual rocking element as opposed to the semi-formal/toned down setting & musical arrangements for the Reworked tour. have you seen the music video for it? totally a stroll down pop memory lane! haha :wink3: i'm not much of a Katy Perry fan myself (tho i quite like Teenage Dream & Firework...& to some extent this one)...took me quite a while into the song before i realised what song it was. aside from this VERY VERY strong feeling that i've heard this frigging catchy song somewhere before. :dozey: btw, for those in the UK, heard SP are going to be on Soccer AM this weekend. :)
  5. i swear, that song is now firmly stuck in my head! the original was catchy enough, but after last night...TGIF! TGIF! (wait, Gary...isn't it a Monday night?! :inquisitive: :P) along with a craving for Horlicks...but then, the weather in London right now is so horlicks, i could totally justify a horlicks. :P it was loads of fun & a thoroughly memorable night with friends (Virginie, you are a life saver & the true queue hero! here's to another SP gig with all the Polar Teddies...or as many as the lads can muster over to London in the winter! ;) )...even though we were split up all over the stalls! hands down best gig for me this year so far! :D Gary was on top banter form & he had a big giant smile on his face throughout the night, especially when the crowd pretty much sang the entire Run for him, which he'd incidentally intro-ed as the song that first brought them to the Shepherd's Bush Empire all those years ago. Pablo was also visibly all smiles, along with Tom in his wee corner. the new material...it's good stuff, i can tell you that. feel that it'll be their High Violet. not quite Joshua Tree, but i think it could be their 2nd coming creatively after Final Straw. i loved The Weight Of Love most & felt it had a bit of a Springsteen/Americana feel to it. but all the others were beautiful pieces & i think it's fairly safe to say amongst us CPers there, we're all eagerly awaiting the new album in Nov after last night! Fallen Empires = EPIC LIVE!!!   ...Nathan & Pablo were going all ape shite on stage playing the riffs! but it was a post-encore closer rather than an opener...which still worked, imo  Called Out In The Dark live = hard to resist the urge to bust a move & even Gary seemed to almost bust out a move at one point ...tho the crowd could've jumped around a wee bit more to the tunes, in general. :P & i get to keep a nice electric blue Snow Patrol wristband (i.e. my ticket)...along with the bloody expensive t-shirt for the event - my boss was taking the piss out of me about it today cos he saw my tweet about it...he thought i'd wear it to work! haha pix to follow...Virginie was the videographer of the night. i just concentrated on photos mainly. also, we saw heavy signs that the gig was being recorded last night...so hopefully all that effort makes it to a long overdue live DVD. seriously, lads! still waiting on that Reworked Tour live DVD... :inquisitive:
  6. ^^ ROTFL...great response, Anna! i was about to ask "what the hell is this person even on about?" already. but guess bjaiken beat me to it. :P
  7. you'd think they'd play more London gigs...since the guys work & live in London. & that Notting Hill Arts Club venue is pretty nice. or maybe they can do another free gig, but in Camden this time...the Wheelbarrow comes to mind. :)
  8. i think i need to start bugging them for a London gig...i'm now quite sure there's no way i can make it for a holiday to Germany. darn project deadlines. :(
  9. tried looking in Amazon UK also (which was showing the release as 2 Sep before) & that's all been changed to 4 Sep already & no d/l available yet.
  10. hmmm...can anyone confirm if the EP's already available on iTunes? been told that the person's YT uploads are not leaks cos it's already available on iTunes & the pitch was apparently changed to circumvent the copyright. but i've just looked in iTunes UK & it's still locked as "Pre-Order". is it available on some other country's iTunes Store already? :\
  11. same here! & this is the track that was written for an Irish movie, right? in which case it'd explain how the person got hold of it before 4th...
  12. man, it's hard to believe it, but the EP's going to be out this weekend! it all seemed so far away still once upon a time... :D
  13. was going thru some of the older posts & realised i've seen this band play live recently. volunteered at the Camden Crawl over the summer & decided to check them out cos i vaguely remembered seeing them mentioned somewhere before. liked their music so much i bought both of their albums on sale that night. the lady & guy manning the makeshift merch stall seemed to be both surprised & happy that i was buying 2 albums straight off. haha  haha...probably! i am still very much in love with High Violet. & guess i also keep thinking of The National with SP's new album cos of Gary's post about having Nico Muhly & Owen Pallett working on this album's strings & bass arrangement. still think Big Broken had a bit of The National kind of vibe to it (wonder if that track's going to be on the album even?). can totally see ppl at the upcoming SP gig(s) jumping around to Fallen Empires already. looking forward to the rest of the album! :)
  14. actually, i think he said it is the title track. but as in it's the title track for the album & not the EP. he was saying it's confusing in that sense. but anyway, title track doesn't mean it'll be the lead track on an album. so it's still anyone's guess for now where it fits in on the actual album. EP-wise, it's right after COITD's boppy happy sound, but leading into the slower (sadder?) sound of My Brothers. which i think is about right...if i remember the sound of My Brothers right.
  15. think i'm one of the few (or maybe the only one?) who liked Fallen Empires already from that snippet on Amazon UK. & am going to stand by it. loved it! had to re-listen to it 2 times though, as i was at work & was interrupted a couple of times when it finally came on. on top of trying very hard not to laugh or grin like an idiot during Gary's interview. :dozey: fairly sure this is one song that's going to sound epic when played live (& frigging loud!)   CAN...NOT...WAIT!!! :bomb: & i think i actually like Fallen Empires a bit more than COITD...tho i have to keep stopping myself from referring to it as Fake Empire (totally different song/band even!) but this might partly be due to my slight preference towards darker, angrier, heavy charged songs lately.
  16. yeah...like for the Q Awards gig he's doing. his sold out already on the day & there were still tickets for the other acts, i.e Kaiser Chiefs. & the Guardian's review of his Barfly gig mentioned there were like 1,000 peeps queuing to get in! :stunned: did you pre-order his album off play.com? there's a signed edition on sale there with earphone cable. only knew about it cos he'd tweeted that he's been signing albums, tbh. :P
  17. & i hope the Empire does fall cos of that lady shouting for him to come out in the dark... :P (i'll get me coat now... :dozey: ) ^^ THIS! he can feel free to wear his busty little fashionista shirt too... *lol* or his VERY grey designer socks that the Q Mag guy told me about ...just not that jacket in that T4 video. (come to think of it, it would seem our Gary boy's a bit of a closet fashionista...designer socks, All Saints busty shirts, All Saint t-shirts... )
  18. *lol* she's on a roll with her SP jokes about the crazy french lady on twitter tho... :P don't worry...i kinda hate that jacket too. i kept thinking that if it were red, it'd look like MJ's jacket from Thriller! & as Virginie's said, Gary looks like he needs a haircut. he should do like his brothers & get that shaggy mop of hair of his cut short. else by 5 Sep it'll be a messy mop. :P no worries. just happy you got it sorted out in the end & looking forward to seeing you again. nothing worse than changing your travel plans to come for this gig only to not have a ticket for it!
  19. *ahem* i think some updating of this status needs to be done here...polar bear karma FTW! :wink3: & on another note...if anyone didn't see the tweet/FB update about it...the boys performed COITD live on T4 this morning! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEQdDYMHPHA]Snow Patrol - Called Out In The Dark (Live on T4)[/ame] + something i saw on the Absolute Radio website: Gary's going to be talking to Geoff Lloyd live on the Hometime Show on 30 Aug some time between 7pm - 8pm! :D
  20. ME!   fell in love with The A-Team & watched the video of his set at the iTunes Festival supporting Bruno Mars (why the hell didn't we get Ed for the recent London gig for Bruno?! *sigh*) & thought he was really good. like the way he pretty much did all the sounds on his tracks all on his own during his set. he's playing in London on my birthday, but it's already sold out. so is his 1-off gig for the Q Awards (£15 only! sold out in under an hour, apparently! :bigcry: ) & i can't make it for his show in January. i seem to be doomed to not be able to see him perform live right now. :disappointed:
  21. thanks guys & girls! :) glad i'm not the only one who thinks that. when i saw that picture, somehow, first thing i thought off was "Run!" (the song...obviously). have to admit that snowflake wasn't meant to be there. last minute addition. think you'll find that most've been saying that already (in varying degrees on kicking the crap-ness). title already wins over Mylo Xyloto...the DJs are having a field day getting ppl to guess what it could possibly mean. :dozey: did you see my link to the Amazon UK site? you can listen to snippets of the EP's songs there...loving Fallen Empires (the song) already! :D i might give this app a go on the night...see how "live" the experience is. Gigorama - get to know the latest updates live from the concert (or so the website says). mixing my work with play. it's market/competitor research after all...haha ;) yes, i did!!! SO excited!!! Bianca & Elena already told me they're coming over for it... :D i might not stay on after the gig tho...i'm tempted to, since i can get a 24hr bus back direct to my flat nearby. but i'll probably only stay on if i get both Monday & Tuesday off from work. not sure yet if i can even take Monday off in the first place. else it'll be a mad dash from work to Shepherd's Bush...it's just 2 stops away on the Central line from work, but i only finish at 6pm earliest. argh! :\ the stage:barrier distance at the Empire is (as Min put it) the closest i've ever been to the stage at a gig when the 2 of us went for Frightened Rabbit last year! & i DO wonder if the venue was specially chosen for the name as well as small capacity... :sneaky: the rules to get the ticket (i.e. wristbands) are REALLY strict. but i personally think it's great they're taking such strict measures, heard there's even a 2 per household limit! for one thing, it makes sure that the touts won't snap up the tickets as buyers with 2 tickets must be there with their +1 to be wristbanded (i.e. ticket collection) together on the day...no running off with a spare wristband. else the fact that they'll be playing tracks from their not-yet-released album at this gig'd probably make it a hot tout target. heard some other small gigs by big bands in London have been taking this approach to ticketing lately. on that note, i hope they do a special plastic or fabric wristband, just for a unique keepsake given the collection procedure. i doubt it tho. :P & Aurelie: there's some tickets up for general sale now...no code required. & it's the standing section... :wink3:
  22. oh, dear...that lady didn't seem to know what she was meant to be asking the lads about there...proper embarrassing. & why does Japan get the cool/nicer looking album cover? :(
  23. something i came up with over the weekend...well, on Sunday really...been wanting to do this for a while now, though my original idea was quite different. (clicky on the piccy above to see it in its original size, with more details...i.e. the words) i'm sure some of you (i.e. Aurelie & Anna ;) ) will recognise the central image i used...or destroyed...or defaced. depending on how you see it. i've always felt that Banksy graffiti piece & the lyrics to Run suited each other very well. here's the end result. :)
  24. the teeth! :stunned: now THAT's detailed observation...
  25. maybe it's just my bad eyesight, but i can't see any resemblance to Tom or any of the others (aside from Serge). :shame:
