:cool: (im no good at reviews) 1. A cool start for the mixtape. Starts off pretty atmospheric and ambient but goes into something a bit rockier. I recognise this, has it been used on an ad or movie or something? it feels familiar (but this might be because i listened to it briefly when i first got the tape) I'm not too sure how I feel about this song, it's just not really my thing... 2. This song sounds older. 80s or maybe 90s. Kind of folk/country-ish at some points. Irish? it's nice, but again not really my thing. It's pretty cheesy... 3. This sounds newer but still pretty traditional. It's pleasant and summery...harmless! 4. Modern british indie kind of thing. Sounds a little like U2, too. I found it pretty dull, sorry. 5. Nice folky song. Not really a fan of their voices though. The trumpet bit was cool, I love trumpets! 6. The sounds really 70's. Reminds me of Led Zepplin. I really like this! I have a soft spot for that era folky rocky stuff... 7. Another 70's sounding song. Not a big fan of this...good instrumentation and all. the drums sound great. 8. A fun halloween song! it's got THAT organ sound. fun fun fun fun 9. Accordion and quite an obvious Beatles influence. I like the chorus thingy, where the vocals get higher/louder 10. Spoken word (about tea?) on a very 60s backing track. Reminds me of some Serge Gainsbourg stuff. This is pretty cool. For the record, I don't actually like tea... 11. long instrumental intro. veeery 80s. I really like this but the 80s sound is kinda putting me off. really great melodies and everything though! Probably my favourite of the tape. 12. pretty piano and string section with electronic bass and kick drum. really nice. Sounds kind of like something Jon Hopkins would do. Gets all epic at the end. samples from the news or something? I take what i said before back, this is my favourite of the tape! a great ending COOL! thank you very much mixtape maker. I didn't really like a whole lot of it, but who cares, I hadn't heard anything on this before. I appreciate that you've found stuff I've never heard! I'm interested to know who some of these artists are. thaaaaaaaaaaaaaanks :nice:

The best thing about MX is that the band are really proud of it. I'm happier with seeing a band happy with what they've created than enjoying it myself tbh.

Are we treating songs like Thinkin Bout You (Frank Ocean) or Call Me Maybe (Carly Rae Jepsen ) as 2011 or 2012 releases? they were released as singles late 2011 but released on albums this year.

^i really like the more electronic stuff but otherwise it's just kinda dull she's a great songwriter, i'd just prefer it if it wasn't all guitar based!
