  1. well actually the beginning was supposed to mimmick the intro in the 2005 live :-( I played the exacted same notes in the beginning that Johnny did. I guess... it just doesn't sound quite the same on an acoustic :-(
  2. Nicely done ! I didn't get much of the intro though .. i couldn't understand what you were saying in that first minute ( sorry :( ) I got some coldplay covers on my youtube too. Check 'em out when you have the time. http://www.youtube.com/user/vincymon
  3. Biggest band of the decade ... I would have to say Coldplay. Some might disagree about technical skills ... but the fact is ....Coldplay rose very quickly, and everybody knows of them. To go from having the reputation "only [] listen to coldplay" to having every little high school band in my state trying to play Viva La Vida .... I would say coldplay is pretty much on top. MUSE, are great ... but hey they haven't yet got the market like how coldplay has.
  4. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vzRGh3R9T4]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vzRGh3R9T4[/ame] I hope its a cover different enough to keep you interested.
  5. This story was classic. In the last FiFa world cup Trinidad had a team. So off course EVERYONE in the Caribbean was watching. One day they cancelled school for the team, and we all went to this friends house to watch the game. Just before the game we got into an argument about who has more coldplay songs/ knew about the band first/ can play more of their songs.
  6. I would have to disagree. Regardless of gender, the first verse of YES, is very difficult to sing. Although Chris Martin sings it comfortably on the record, I have yet to hear him sing that verse live without going flat at times. Particularly the lines "sin stay gone" and "i'm just so tired of this loneliness." From what i've heard. I'd say Martin has the wider range, but I would still say Matt it better because he goes flat less often, and reaches a higher falsetto. Have you ever watched the Wembley performance of Knights of Cydonia , Matt reaches an impossibly high note during the intro.
  7. Here goes: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deaVdbBz15Y&feature=channel_page]YouTube - strawberry swing acoustic cover[/ame] What do yo think
  8. Although I am a bigger fan of Coldplay; I would have to go with Matthew from Muse. After recording dozens of Coldplay songs on youtube, I tried doing [butterflies and Hurricanes] (muse) ... and that was tough. When I try singing coldplay I've never felt like I was losing my voice. Singing like Matthew does, is a real exercise !
  9. I agree Its ok to say you're inspired by someone ... if that musician is of age and not still mainstream. But to make music like Coldplay, while they are still relavant and kicking ... is just annoying. Its like if a girl started singing just like Beyonce now and says she's inspired by Beyonce. Its like what Pink said, immitation is not flattery, its just annoying.
  10. Ok. Well, learnt basic guitar at seven. But my guitar got messed. I started again 3 years ago. You are right princesanji, my understanding of the music theory often surpasses my physical aptness. I try to correct that.
  11. Well, I never bothered buy an album of the Fray. I once thought of buying "One Republic" but .. they haven't really got me yet. What about safety suit. I gotta give it to them, "STAY" is more depressing than anything Coldplay ever did. Something about a girl tying her boyfriend to a chair and beating him .. just doesn't appeal to me. Its like, driving with STAY blasting from my speakers, is the equivalent of an extended kick in the nuts.
  12. yep. Although I only bother with "singles from these other bands" The only somewhat-similat band whom i actually seriously dig is the killers.' The Killers have got punch ! to their music. Bands like Keane and the Fray, are competent .. but they lack the punch of Coldplay; you know, that quality that makes you not skip half the tracks on the album.
  13. I supposed ... but it does make the music industry feel saturated at times.. I am sure some of you have had the experience, you put on VH1 before you go to work and you feel like you are hearing a dozen different versions of Coldplay for 2 hours
  14. Well as for the Fray ... they just sound ordinary. Non- coldplay fans often complain that the band is boring, well if Coldplay is boring, The Fray is 10 times worse !
  15. Yep. Classical to the point that the stringboard is now lifting off the body. :(
