  1. Here is an idea if you want it with bass notes, tune your bottom strings to the same as the high strings. Just tune A to B and D to G. And play it like so: E. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”7.β€”β€”β€” B. β€” 12.β€” 7. β€”β€”β€”β€” β€”β€”7.β€”β€” E. 12. β€” β€” β€” 7.β€” 12. β€”β€”β€”7. G. 12. β€” β€” β€” 7.β€” 12. β€”β€”β€”7. B. β€” 12.β€” 7. β€”β€”β€”β€” β€”β€”7.β€”β€” E. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”7.β€”β€”β€” This might just work. (Warning: Portuguese message below) So uma dica, tua tablatura ficou de cabeca pra baixo, fica dificil de ler. B e G eh em cia em A e D eh em baixo. Abraco!
  2. Anyone knows any tutorials on how to play this version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas? I found coldplaykb's tutorial but it is for the other version which I don't like as much as this one:
  3. You gotta adjust the levels, you are going in too hot into those plugins (too much volume). - try lowering the pre fx volume of the piano track - both the ssl plugins should go in the mix bus not directly on the track - Adjust the thresholds in the compressors so you don't compress too much, look at the gain reduction meter, I would say not to compress more than 5 to 10 dbs, in this case on the cla-76. - Same for the mix bus SSL compressor, I wouldn't compress more than 3db on that. - If you see a red light on the volume you are clipping and it shouldn't sound very good since this is in a digital environment - For the reverb, its better to create a separate track with just the reverb, leave it at 100% wet and send the piano track signal to that track and adjust the volume of the reverb track for how much reverb you want. Good to learn a bit of mixing on youtube if you get confused with these stuff.
  4. Just listened to the bloom setting on the Big Sky, that sounds amazing. Wish I had one... maybe one of this days.
  5. Going back to the volume pedals, actually only one of them is a volume pedal the rest are all expression pedals. Yes, they are Ernie Ball's Volume Pedals but they are being used as expression pedals using a TRS split cable, to control the feedback of the Echo Pro and Eventide. You can see and hear this effect more clearly when he plays Lost and lets the notes ring out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjxuccDgfSA. You can see he uses it during the entire song, when he wants the reverb/delay to ring out longer (and give that amazing ambient sound) and to stop it when he wants to, so it doesnt ring out forever and overlap notes.
  6. As you can see in this video its just basically random slide hits. With his left hand he mutes the strings, he is not doing any chords its just so when you hit the guitar with the slide it doesn't ring out unwanted strings. He also uses a slow delay with modulation to create that echoing of the birds fading away. I believe he might also be using either a shimmer reverb or the micro pog + reverb. Try out those slide hits for yourself, you'll be impressed with the sounds you come up with, even without any effects on.
  7. Or you can go simple and just use a laptop, run ableton or any other daw, and use a simple audio interface to get the output to a PA ;)
  8. I'm guessing it's both B and E tuned to C#, like in Violet Hill and Life in Technicolor. Not sure though, would have to try and see.
  9. The video I mentioned: http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid31183220001?bclid=31196924001&bctid=31268882001
  10. Even though the keyboards on stage are all only used as MIDI Controllers, the actual sound from Chris's piano is from the Kawai MP9000. They turned a MP9000 keyboard into a rack unit, and they trigger it through his stage piano. There's a video in here somewhere that shows their rack units for synths and piano sounds. I use the Kawai Ex Pro VST plugin, and it sounds really similar to Chris's sound.
  11. Yeah, but that's because it's not his style of music, or at least not Coldplay's style, cause he probably like rock music like those as well. Just cause he doesn't have to play it in Coldplay, doesn't mean he can't do it. He probably plays rock guitar solos when he is just chillin at home or practicing.
  12. The DL4 uses 4 batteries, so probably not a good idea to use it with the batteries. I have a One Spot power supply, for my pedalboard, they are cheap and they are great! And the Auto-Volume echo feature works perfectly, it's pretty handy cause you can save this mode in one of the preset switches and just turn it on whenever you need to start swelling. And now I'm sure that Jonny uses it cause I was watching the Live Toronto 2006 yesterday and I could see him turning it on when he starts the swells on Speed of Sound. Yeah POGs are great! Still hope to get one soon or at least a reverb pedal with shimmer mode.
  13. Yeah you're right. I've seen him doing swells without the volume pedal or knob. He probably uses the Auto-volume Echo mode on one of his Line6 DL4.. Works like a charm :)
