  1. I FREAKIN' LOVE the transition between Violet Hill and God Put a Smile Upon Your Face 2011 - I really hope this gets kept for the forthcoming arena tour. Sounds like a Jon Hopkins flourish to me....
  2. I'm watching on a delay of about 40 minutes, but WOW, is this performance WAAAY better than Glastonbury or what? The boys seem tons more relaxed, their playing is tight, the crowd are hot, the HD picture is stunning, the sound mix is great (Chris's vocals not lost in a sea of backline). And yes, that was the best Major Minus I have heard, hands down. Wonder if they have been asked to drop some parts of the set to meet curfew / BBC Three & HD off air time? (Due to Beyonce overrun).
  3. I think Charlie Brown is one of the best tracks the band have ever written - imagine if it isn't the best track on LP5? That means an even more awesome track is going to blow us away in a few months...
  4. T In the Park Set (09 July 2011) to be broadcast LIVE IN FULL on BBC (and in HD) From the Radio Times website (also as listed on your EPGs) "Coldplay Live @ T Saturday 09 July 10:00pm - 12:00am BBC HD Coverage of the headline set by Coldplay on the Main Stage at Scotland's biggest music festival in Balado. Subtitled, Widescreen, High definition" Woo, and indeed, hoo!!!! I honestly thought that following so hard on the heels of Glastonbury, the BBC wouldn't be able to justify showing Coldplay live again, but it looks very much like they *are* going to do just that!
  5. Actually, BBC are showing the WHOLE SET(!), a la Glastonbury - AND IN HD!!!! From Radiotimes.com "Coldplay Live @ T Saturday 09 July 10:00pm - 12:00am BBC HD Coverage of the headline set by Coldplay on the Main Stage at Scotland's biggest music festival in Balado. Subtitled, Widescreen, High definition" Check your EPGs, also available in SD on BBC Three at the same times...
  6. Why not? Don't get me wrong, I am certainly not one of those fans who expects a "Greatest Hits" set, in fact I applaud bands who almost deliberately f*ck with their fans by playing b-sides, obscure tracks and omit the hits (which let's face it, only the casual fans are interested in). But at a "proper" Coldplay show, I don't think it would do the set any harm to re-introduce tracks such as those described above. Imagine if they added the likes of "High Speed" to the LP5 tour, that would be SICK!
  7. Because they sounded better at the likes of Rock Am Ring, although it is hard to tell where the mixing problems have manifested themselves for starters. Plus, they didn't play Princess of China, and took out a lot of good stuff to put in "crowd pleasers" like Shiver, Everything's Not Lost, etc. I had hoped for better, not terrible, but not Crystal Palace 2005 awesome by any stretch of the imagination!
  8. I don't think the appalling sound mix from the BBC is helping. Poor levels on Chris's mic, the piano, the crowd - all making this experience seem a little....off. The sound on BBCHD channel is underwhelming, but when I flicked to BBC2 for an SD vs HD comparison (have had HD for a few months now, yet I still love to compare the pic quality) and the sound there is ATROCIOUS! Not the tightest performance I have heard from the guys, oooh here's Charlie Brown!
  9. Developed for this festival tour and hopefully for the arena shows following LP5's release! Everything's Not Lost! Not heard since the Twisted Logic tour, if I am not mistaken?
  10. What's up with the sound, BBC? The rips of the Rock Am Ring had better sound mixing than this sorry mess!
  11. And not in a piss taking way, either [i don't think]!!!! 12. I know, the distortion on Chris's vocal doesn't bug me, I am open minded about those sort of things - but why so low in the mix? Like ETIAW, some of the lyrics are unintelligble they are so buried in the mix? Many have criticised the lyrics for being a backward step, are they trying to hide the fact by drowning them out? Major Minus was AWESOME at Rock Am Ring (and no doubt will be this Saturday), but the studio version was a huge letdown. After ETIAW? Not looking forward to the album. After Rock Am Ring? It's okay, panic over - the album is gonna rock! After Major Minus? Not looking forward to the album again. What is going on?
  13. I think is partly why Chris loves the song - it is clearly an above board use of the chord progression from "In My Place" or is an unlicensed sample. Don't really like it, but nice homage to the boys using the In My Place chords...
  14. There are far too many people on here who are clearly blinkered by their love of Coldplay that they cannot see how good "Me and Tennessee" is, at least the likes of Valypan and others get it. Those doubters are all entitled to their opinions (even if those opinions are somewhat "it is country and it is not Coldplay, so it is rubbish") but in my view, "Me and Tennessee" is probably in my Top 5 Chris Martin songs - I would say I have listened to the track over TWO HUNDRED times and still don't tire of singing along - and the hairs on the back of my neck still stand up thanks to the incredible melody.
  15. It is AMAZING, what an incredible track and shame on me for not knowing about it's existence until now. Off to download Country Strong soundtrack from Amazon.co.uk (can't download track on its own unfortunately; clever marketing bods knew that people would ignore rest of album, I guess!) Not sure if this is Eno's fault - it could equally be the "quality control" exerted by the rest of the band (e.g. doesn't fit with the band's "sound" or "direction", for example)
  16. Exactly, can't believe ANYONE is getting concerned by this! It is just Chris's typical self deprecating "we are rubbish, this is our last chance" false modesty thing he has going on. Calm down, people!
