The mail has arrived but I'm waiting for my hubby to get home so he can bring it in because I want to torture myself with suspense. Sure, I could have walked out there 3 hours ago since I'm off of work today, but self-torture-suspense is fun. :bomb:

So far yes, I just checked after being offline for about 6 hours. I explained what happened to a girl I work with, and we both thought that was odd (that someone could retract their bid twice). I looked at some of the bidding rules posted on ebay regarding bid retractions. Basically, ebay can suspend an account if the retraction option is abused. Maybe that's what happened...

What a tease! I am confused. I just got another ebay e-mail that Bidder 18 was back and outbid me. A minute later I get an e-mail that they retracted their bid AGAIN. WTF??!!?? Make up your mind!

I know! I don't understand that. It's much nicer, it's Will's (:D), and you don't have to spend extra money to frame it like you would with a lithograph. The only downside is that the shipping on it is more than 3 times that of the lithographs. I hope you get it!

I agree for the most part. It's not the end of the world if we don't get anything. A few weeks ago this auction didn't exist and we were all just peachy, and it shouldn't be any different after the 31st. I'm not going for any of the guitars, becuase I don't play, so it would indeed collect dust as you say (which is pointless, so it should go to someone who can appreciate it). The globe wouldn't collect dust becuase I would put it on my piano and plug it in every day and keep it nice and pretty and dust-free and give it the love it deserves. :D Actually now that I think of it, that's better than it's current status, becuase apparently it's been collecting dust in storage for years now... And I also agree with you that it really belongs with the ones who made it what it is (i.e., the band)... I am still perplexed why they would want to give it up. Some of the other stuff, sure, but I don't understand why they would give up THE globe. I don't think I'll ever understand it. I mean, I know it's for charity, but still.

Yes, I was. My husband thinks I'm insane, but I don't care, the globe is a one-in-a-kind, once-in-a-lifetime piece of music history, I don't care if it takes years to pay it off (not his money anyway). I'm Bidder 15, and I officially stopped yesterday. I realized that Bidder 18 was likely going to stop at nothing to get it (at that point Bidder 18 was over $12K U.S.), so I just went ahead and figured out a bid that would be just under the special pre-sale verification limit. I got outbid in less than 3 minutes, that's how bad Bidder 18 wants it. They have the next highest bid at just over the pre-sale verification limit; so if they don't get verified (and they are from the U.S.), I think it would default to me. But I could be wrong. I decided not to get special verification, so that way I'm not tempted to spend more. :dozey: That scenario likely won't happen though, so I'm not getting my hopes up. I just hope Bidder 18 is a true fan, and I think they are becuase a lot of their bids end in some sort of variation of 42.

Yeah... if bidder 18 is from the U.S., hopefully (or not hopefully) they realize that any purchase over a certain amount requires additional special ID verification (in addition to the normal PayPal verification). If they don't do that before the auction ends they are SOL, and then I'll be SIL (and a bit broke).

So far they've raised about 100,000 GBPs for Kids Company... great job!

My understanding is there would be one BIN for each of the 7 liths (Shiver, Parachutes, Don't Panic, AROBTTH, In My Place, Yellow, and X&Y). In addition to Shiver and Don't Panic, they gave out 2 for X&Y, I'm not sure why. So, it looks like they still have 4 more BINs: Parachutes, AROBTTH, In My Place, and Yellow.
